I fell asleep reading this.

Great art, but I got absolutely nothing from the writing end.

Admittedly, there are some good ideas here, but I had to put this down not even halfway in. Unfortunately, this is where I'll be dropping this book.

This book isn't clicking for me, unfortunately. What I once thought was a series devoted to going into the forgotten corners of the DC Multiverse now comes off as pretentious.

Not very good. The tonal difference between this and the first issue of Absolute Power is night and day. This wouldn't be terrible if this weren't such a serious and gloomy event and this was a standalone story in the middle of some random DC title. But for what Williams is going for in this, it doesn't work. I'm glad this Task Force VII series is all a set of one-shot stories, so I'm hoping we're onto better things.

At least it reads quickly so we don't have to suffer through it for too long.

Unfortunately, this is where I part from this series. The art is all over the place and I cannot get behind the story whatsoever. The first arc was great, but then filler issues completely killed the steam this book once had.

An incredibly run of the mill Two-Face tale, elevated by stunning artwork. That's all it is, and a disappointment it was.

Unfortunately, this series really fell off for me after issue 6. I really wanted to like the latter half of this title, but ultimately it fell flat. It seems like James Tynion either wrote or had a majority of control over the first arc, then gave it off to someone else, which obviously looks to be the case as Rosenberg also writes this. Granted, I do enjoy Matthew Rosenberg as a writer, and I have found myself following a few titles of his that I genuinely enjoy. Unfortunately, DC vs. Vampires and Task Force Z were two duds, ironically both in their second arcs for me. The concepts were there, but the execution wasn't.

Rushed, confusing, and very underwhelming.

Why was this character invented?

I don't need a retelling of Revenge of the Sith. Nor do I need thousands of words on the page, either.

Dropping this book. Unfortunately, this fell off after issue #6 for me.

So we're just going to turn this into an overly-wordy, nonsensical issue? Cool.

One more to go...

The story has lost me so much that it's starting to confuse me.

Just one more issue... One more trudge to get through.

I've never been privy to anthology stories; unfortunately, this one doesn't do it for me. It would have been nicer if we got an oversized chapter of PKJ's story, rather than the other smaller stories we did end up getting.

Power Girl lacks the very thing mentioned in its title: power.

Everything was unbearably boring except Williamson's story...at the very beginning. Why not end it on a positive note by having his story last?

Forgettable ending, incredibly trope-y, and overall, a "meh" book.

This was a real trudge of an issue. I was easily bored within the first ten pages, though the final few pages did bring in some intrigue to what will come next. Hopefully the next issue is an improvement.

When you strip a good amount of dialogue from each lengthy word bubble James writes, I think it's a bit more readable. Nonetheless, I can't wait for the suffering to be over.

Retrospectively, this is one of Zdarksy's more solid issues in his run. However, this was a filler issue with practically no implication or setup for future issues, barring the Absolute Power tie-in. Unfortunately, this was more of a miss than a hit for me. This felt like an issue I've read multiple times before.

It may have a fun element to its concept, but I give up.

The first two stories are hits. The Aquaman story, as much as I wanted to like it for the art alone, I just found it super forgettable. The black-and-white story at the end was just...basic. It doesn't do anything exciting. It's just dull and predictable. The art in the black-and-white story is fantastic in most parts, but there were panels where I had to look back, unsure of what was happening.

Ends with the most whimper way a whimper ending could get.

I really did enjoy Mariko Tamaki's run earlier on when she started back in March of 2021, but the finale to her tenure on the title was much more of a whimper than a bang.

Well, this was quite the letdown. At least this was one of the last of Bore State. Dull, uninspired writing, zero stakes, uninteresting, wonky art (when I was actually a fan of Robbi Rodriguez's two prior Nightwing issues), this really was a heartbreaker. Though the best thing, by far, to come out of this issue, the cliffhanger words saying, "Next: Back to Blüdhaven!"

Fine, but really lacking in that Burton-verse feeling. It's a real joy to see Sam Hamm back to write a Bat-book, but it doesn't automatically imply it's great. Without Tim Burton at Hamm's side, I don't think the title will succeed, and reality is showing that right now, sadly.

Dan Watters's story is the highlight here, everything else... I just don't care enough whatsoever.

These one shots probably would've worked better pre-Dark Crisis #5. Just saying.

So...Tom Taylor's telling me that The Joker, in this universe, is a mix of Lex Luthor and the Green Lantern? Hooboy, the days of me reading this series are numbered.

I'll be re-reading this once the full series is out. Waiting a month or so per issue made me forget absolutely everything about what happened.

The ideas here are really profound and fantastic, and so is the art, but the huge downside is how overly verbose Kudranski's narration and dialogue are. It's unfortunate because there's something really great here, but he's boggling it down with uninspired wording that turns out to bore the reader.

So... Okay, whatever.

Sad to see this title being overshadowed by such a letdown of an event.

Sadly going to be dropping this title now. These last two issues have been really just...meh, and I expected something far better, especially with Taylor on writing duties.

Ends with a whimper. I wanted this to be a bit more than what it turned out to be, but sadly, we just didn't get that.

I think by issue #12 I'll be off of this title. The first six issues were phenomenal; since then, it's been a dip in quality. I love Jorge Corona's art in this, but I do think that DWJ's writing in this second half of his run is nowhere near the heights of his first six issues.

Nothing very substantial happens in this issue, which I appreciated, but for the price you pay on a prestigious title such as this, you'd want something to definitely happen here.

Am I missing something? I genuinely really want to enjoy this, but I can't seem to grasp the excitement that everyone else has for this.

Some fine stories in here, Kurt Busiek's is the highlight here. Other than that, I expected a bit more from Tomasi, to be quite honest.

An improvement to last issue's slip-up, though not by much. I dearly hope this ends on a good note.

Intriguing enough to keep my attention, but starting to really dwindle down for me. Possibly going to drop this.

Mostly fine. Pyg's and Azrael's stories were the highlight. Alyssa Wong just needs to stop writing boring things.

Despite this book moving really slowly, I'm enjoying this run. I'm hoping Ahmed's Wolverine doesn't suffer from the same pacing issues.

The art still impresses here, the story is still fine enough to pass time, it's just an above-average book. There sadly really just isn't anything else running for it.

Really enjoyed Tim Seeley's and Dennis Culver's stories, but other than that, it's just super forgettable.

Fairly fun, but I'm really just giving up with this event.

An incredibly wordy conclusion, yet still entertained in its noirish roots. Other than that, it was okay. And this is only for the main storyline as I don't care enough to read about Punchline in jail for fifteen issues straight.

After a few months on hiatus, I have to say, the book really lost its luster.

Still a really interesting story, but it sure is losing its traction.

Still a fun title, but I just personally am not a fan of Amanda at all.

Continues to interest, but this was a much slower issue. Let's get to some real versing already, like the title suggests, please.

Still a fun book! Glad there's a decent story with the addition of the codes for the game.

Definitely weaker than the previous issues, but I'm looking forward to how Chip will wrap this one up.
