The second chapter in Jed Mackay's time on Doctor Strange kicks off by preparing the titular character for what may be his biggest challange thusfar in an exciting first issue. Read Full Review

The water that is the War of the Seven Spheres is beginning to simmer once again, and if MacKay and Ferry can make it boil, Strange fans may have a serious hit on their hands. Read Full Review

Doctor Strange #7 may be the strongest issue in MacKay's run to date as General Strange enters the public stage to make his intentions known with a killer introduction. Technically, this is a setup issue, but the writing and art combine to kick off one heck of a challenge for Doctor Strange. Read Full Review

    Comic Watch - Anthony Bergamini

Doctor Strange #7 starts off with a very underwhelming follow up to General Stranges backstory reveal from the previous issue. That combined with General Stranges overdesigned aesthetic takes a lot away from this story, although MacKay and company do end up reeling things back by the end of the issue. Read Full Review

    The Comicbook Dispatch - StoryBabbler

    Sep 07, 2023

Doctor Strange #7 continues the confrontation between Dr. Strange and General Strange. The exchange between Stephen and his darker self was well-written and the emotional writing for the character is compelling in the comic. However, said confrontation wasn't really that eventful as it could've been. While the main event wasn't that suspenseful, the rest of the comic did a fine job setting things up for the next issue that should make things more interesting. Read Full Review

Don't get me wrong, I liked everything before this issue and the last issue, but I think MacKay is really cooking something great with this current story. I loved the previous issue and this one was another hit. Stephen losing it on Tiboro was fantastic and just well-written. Throughout this issue, it really felt as though something big is on the horizon when it comes to facing General Strange. Plus, I thought the final page was a really intriguing cliffhanger. Ferry's art works better in some places than others here, but it doesn't take too much away from this for me. All in all, these past two issues have been the best this book has been and I hope it's only up from here.

This is a good chapter, fantastically told. The art's stunning and the dialogue sparkles with brilliant (if melodramatic) turns of phrase. This issue wraps up all this volume's plot threads (along with some from past volumes) into one ruthlessly rational conflict to challenge Doctor Strange. I can't wait to see how he tackles it.
