But Why Tho? - Collier "CJ" Jennings
Sep 29, 2021Darkhawk #2 continues its protagonist's superhero journey, adding a heavy dose of emotional weight along the way. I appreciate the work the creative team is doing to make Connor a fully fleshed-out character, and I also appreciate that Higgins is using the "Air Space" column in the back of the book to reach out to real-life people and experts about MS. I can only hope that other writers are willing to put in this level of effort when creating characters. Read Full Review

Sep 29, 2021This issue is a win across the board, and while the artistic style doesn't land in every single panel for me, it's a small nitpick for an otherwise fantastic issue. If you're a Darkhawk fan, this really is the reinvention you've been waiting for. Read Full Review

Sep 29, 2021A very strong issue in this series. Chock full of events that move both the characters and the series forward to where it needs to go. This would be a really bad issue to skip, folks. Read Full Review

Oct 04, 2021Solid issue to check out in this mini-series, but the fight scene was relatively short to help it be established for a book of the week. Read Full Review

Oct 02, 2021This second issue doesn't do anything to emphasize why a Darkhawk reboot was in order, but everything from the new characters to the ongoing drama is still fine. Read Full Review

This is a solid comic. I really didn't expect that ending.

On the personal side, Connor struggles to adapt to his MS. On the superhero side, all the secrets come out between him and Derek. I was really impressed by how much mileage this issue got out of the complex relationship established in #1. So many lines took on extra weight and meaning! I hope that level of intricate character work continues. I liked this issue, but I'm really struggling with the art. The layouts, posing, and anatomy are all fine, but that shading is killing me. It looks like every character just climbed out of a chimney.
