    AIPT - David Brooke

There are huge implications for Lex Luthor going forward after reading Superman #7. This extra-sized issue sets up future threats while establishing The Chained as a heavy hitter and revealing Lex's life becomes more complicated. The extra pages don't help the somewhat jarring plotting, though, as the story cuts around too much for its own good. Read Full Review

    The Comicbook Dispatch - StoryBabbler

    Oct 17, 2023

Superman #7 continues the story of the Unchained who rampages through Metropolis seeking Lex Luthor only to be confronted by Superman and his Super Family. Now, the comic does what it can to celebrate Superman in its own way, but it's juggling that with continuing the current story arc with the Unchained. On top of that, the comic is a little too focused with making some big reveals with certain characters that are definitely setup for future story arcs, but they somewhat distract from the main plot. Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez

    Oct 17, 2023

Superman #7 is not bad, but it feels disjointed and cobbled together. Williamson introduces multiple plot lines, some of which have nothing to do with the main conflict, and the eclectic art team delivers serviceable art with frequently inconsistent styles. Read Full Review

The Fandom Post - Chris Beveridge

    Jul 17, 2024

This feels like such a confused book. The main story isn't bad but it's bringing in Kara and the rest in a way that feel sudden and out of blue in comparison to previous issues and it took a beat to reconnect with it all. The actual stuff with the Chained is decent and the artwork is great with a good sense of power. But once it gets past that and some of the obvious flashback material to "celebrate" it being issue 850, get some badly done Luthor family drama both in story and visual execution and then onto a tonally different focus with Brainaic and the world of Braal. That at least looks interesting but it's such a chunk on top of an already problematic book that it becomes frustrating. Read Full Review

Quite a solid issue. The Chained is turning out to be a rather interesting enemy. He seems to be quite involved in the old Metropolis so there is no doubt that he has a lot of relevant information of Lex and Perrys old days. Like the fight scenes, good art all around. Good display of his strength in that even the entire super family is struggling with him. The ending with Lexs family was weird but I am not sure how I feel about that. Like they are in the DC lore so they are not new characters, just current iterations. So no lore breaking here, I will just wait to see how they are written. The second story made me pause and go 'oh no more Lobo family', but it doesnt seem like it. Seems more like his people that were trapped in on of the b more

call me insane. But I think Superman main series has better books than Batman or Spider-Man. Great writing, good art, and good characters with an interesting story so far.

Good fighting scenes against Sammy but I found the Lex Luthor family reunion part to be more interesting and funny. Oh and I like the Braniac reveal at the end. Feels like some steam is being lost though here.

My god there is so much going on now it's almost overwhelming. This book is great, but it's almost too jam packed for its own good. Still, Williamson is setting up an epic, and I'm very excited to be along for the ride.

I can't lie, I was expecting a little more from a bigger legacy number issue. This was still good, though. I wasn't incredibly into the stuff with Lex, but I did enjoy the Superman-focused stuff, especially the beginning with Perry.

The $5.00 price point is killing me. I like the book, but I'm not sure if it's worth $5.00. The artwork in the beginning in comparison to Dan Jurgens work is such a huge contrast. I love Jergens work. His faces and expressions just pop off the page. I'm not thrilled with this new villain or Supergirl's new costume and Lex's daughter and mother come out of nowhere as did the Brainiac storyline. I am interested to see how they all interlink. I don't know about "Oversized" but it certainly is "overpriced." But what comic isn't anymore? This was an alright issue. It would've been better if there was no "family" interference. I also hate how literally Superman and Batman seem to take that term lately. They're mostly allies or teammates, but hardly family. At least they're not all calling Superman "Dad." Not yet anyway. Supergirl came off as totally unlikable in this book. I've never resented her presence more. At least the "Let's try and compensate for aging Jon" twins and Krypto weren't there. But one thing I've found most enjoyable about this book when compared to Action is its lack of the "Family" on a regular basis. Hopefully they won't be back for a long time. These days Con more

Meh...A lot of Characters that I just don't care about. Kill off the entire Super Family with the exception of Conner Kent and that would be a start. Also, Lena Luthor 1st appeared in 1998 which would make her 25 years old not a teenager, but she had tubes stuck into her by Brianiac so maybe that affected her age. Nothing like writer plot armor. Any this issue was ok, the secondary GL story wasn't needed.
