Daredevil #8 gives readers the big battle readers have been waiting for. While the action lives up to the hype, it's hard to follow who's saying what, and the power mismatch between Punisher and Daredevil doesn't make sense. Read Full Review

I never give tens but those empty-headed review bombers who regularly give their troll review scores have forced my hand. The ART alone deserves a 10! This series and particularly this issue is excellent.

This continues to be absolutely brilliant! We have been lucky to have a writer in chip zdarsky who has told an epic daredevil tale that I believe will be remembered as one of the best. This book has been brilliant since zdarsky started writing it and somehow seems to get better and better. Along with zdarsky Marco checchetto also seems to be perfect for daredevil. His artwork is beautiful and fits the tone of the story masterfully. I can not wait for the next issue with the way this book has been the sky is the limit. What a wonderful time to be a fan of daredevil and elektra

An all-out war. Daredevil vs The Punisher. Both with armies behind them. Drawn by the insanely talented Marco Checchetto. Yeah, this issue was EPIC as f***!

There's a solid chunk of character insight carried in the PoV narration, and there are some significant long-term plot developments. But the overall amount of plot-character content isn't that high. And it's completely forgivable when it's skillfully woven into a massive full-issue battle. Brilliantly illustrated, paced, and structured--this is a real pleasure to read. It makes a thoroughly satisfying payoff to the story so far, too.

This issue has a LOT of action. Jrs pretty much all action. Thankfully, that action is good. This is nothing like a traditional Daredevil story but the dialogue of keeps it grounded in familiarity. Not as strong as the last couple of issues. But still rock solid.

Exciting issue with a climactic battle. For a supposed lifelong devoted Catholic Matt misunderstands fundamental tenets of Christianity when he says "no creature is born evil." This would undermine the need for a savior which is a foundation of the entire Christian religion. However, I do appreciate that Zdarsky seems to have made a good faith effort in trying to reasonably portray someone committed to the Lord rather than writing off God as a goofy myth and/or ridiculing His followers as most comics these days tend to do.

Matt the dragon whisperer? Sure, alright! Great art, cool fights, but it doesn't feel as high stakes as it should for some reason.

The action and art is nice, but it's really got away from the good storytelling zdarskys run has been known for.

I like what another reviewer said about this series turning into Jerry Rice on the Seahawks. I think that's a good way to sum it up. The art is still amazing but this whole issue has been lazy and cramped with way too much. Totally devoid of all the small stuff that made the first half of Zdarsky's run so good. All the characters are just so lifeless. Theres horrible retcons like Goldy and characters not acting themselves like Frank and unnecessary background plots like the Avengers hunting Daredevil. This issue still carries a lot of momentum from past issues and the art is great so still a 7/10 but easily the worst issue of Zdarsky's run so far, and I hope I'm wrong but it doesn't like promising that it will get better

Though there was a lot of action here, it's all over the place. DD and Punisher were once street-level characters, now there's undead warriors, dragons, and supernatural powers. It was just established in Punisher that he can kill people with a thought and he lost to a wounded DD in seconds. On the positive side, the art was great.

Marco's Art? 10. The story? The Climax of this series so far? A huge dud. After 25 years of buying this book without fail I'm breaking up with Daredevil. I can't anymore. This is one story stew of mush. Chip needs to get back to Jizz Anime Queens and Brimping. Full take at: https://standupcomicreader.blogspot.com/2023/03/daredevil-8-review-break-up.html
