This series, as a seven issue run, has delivered some of the very best Batman storytelling I've ever read. We've had a unique artistic perspective on Gotham that remains timeless and modern, with Blade Runner like degradation. At the same the narrative has treated us to a disturbing hostage situation wrapped in a mystery. Deadly Duo is a story that consistently gave me what I want from a Batman comic without ever pandering to me. It has some influence from classic stories but still feels modern and it's the best drawn book on the stands. If you're a Batman fan, even one tired of the Joker, you're doing yourself a disservice if you haven't read this comic. It shouldn't be too long before the collected edition comes out. Even though the ending may not have been what I wanted or expected, Batman & The Joker: The Deadly Duo was still a rock-solid story cluttered with creativity and fresh new plot threads. Ultimately, I still feel that its a rock-solid Batman Movie waiting to happen that would certainly be different than what we usually get, however, I just cant shake the disappointment I felt from the final issue. Altogether, Batman & The Joker: The Deadly Duo was pretty darn good. However, as final issues go, I was expecting something more from a story that was on point since issue one. Nevertheless, I highly recommend Batman fans give this series a look especially if theyre looking for something that borderlines horror and provides a different element of eerie mystery to the character thats perfect for Halloween. Silvestris art is worth the price of admission alone, but there are enough cool and fun parts of the story that should appeal to many. DC Black Label is the perfect place for this book. The prestige format is ideal for the art and a regular floppy wouldnt do it justice. Fantastic and successful mini series, great story and art. As a huge bat fan this rocked. Can't wait to get it in trade now. Well done Marc Silvestri, definitely looking like the best batman book of the year.

I enjoyed this series so much more than I expected to and was very pleasantly surprised with Silvestri's art and writing. The dialgue worked well, the story was engaging, and the dynamic between Joker and Batman was great. Also, I found the Joker genuinely funny which was honestly quite refreshing. Most writers lean towards either super cheesy or super morbid when it comes to Joker's humor, but I thought Silvestri found the sweet spot and made him genuinely hilarious at times. Overall, this was a fantastic read and it made me hopeful for a continuation at some point in the future. The villain being still out there at the end leaves that as a possibility, so fingers crossed!
