Though we're just a couple months into 2023, it's not hard to imagine that Nightwing#100 is the single best issue of the year. It's that good. It's possible that this creative team may top themselves in the following eleven months, but this entry can easily win that prize. This has it all for Nightwing fans, and it also feels essential to the DC Universe. It demonstrates why Dick is so important to the DC Universe both inside continuity and for fans. It works on both levels and it brings all the emotion possible. Read Full Review

Nightwing #100 is an excellent celebration issue. Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo make great use of all the developments in their run to enhance what Nightwing's status quo is in the post-Dark Crisis On Infinite Earths DC Universe. You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff

The new direction for Grayson is actually a really cool progression for the character that honors where hes been while looking forward to his future. The weight of the issue seems thrown in too many directions to be totally satisfying all the way through, though. Had there been more lead into the big change, it would have made for a much more satisfying 100th issue. Read Full Review

Nightwing #100 will certainly be lauded by fans of the series but remains frustrating to those looking for more plot progression and overall story.  Even with a ton of artists involved, the book looks pretty damn good, and I can easily recommend it.  Just don't go in thinking that a lot of things will be resolved and you'll be fine. Batman-News - Michael Escalante

    Jan 17, 2023

Nightwing #100 is an appropriately reverent issue that capably displays Dick Grayson's inherent goodness, while also delivering a heavy dose of action. The main narrative implications are thin, though Heartless and Tony Zucco's team up is ripe for drama. However, the arrival of the Titans will be the main barometer of whether or not the issue and the series' new direction is appealing. The spectacle and heart warming moments work their magic, but there's a lack of nuance to how Nightwing's next stage for Bldhaven plays out. Read Full Review

Excited for the TEEN TITANS. Taylor's billionaire heart of gold vs a villain that crushes hearts is the type of hopeful wish fulfillment that tickles me. A prison turned into a symbol of hope and justice. If only.

Overall, I was disappointed. There was no follow up to last month's mystery, no confrontation with Heartless, no NML style jail battle. I'm not thrilled with the end, but knew it was coming. The art changes were jarring to me, even if some of the spreads were individually very nice. There were some nice character moments too; I just expected more from this milestone.

Is Nightwing having it too easy? Yes, it's good to see the hero winning. But he has become too good for the stories to stay interesting. He talks down criminals, he has a ton of allies, everyone but Heartless bows before him with ease. It's almost like he's won and the series can just end because there are no challenges. This has been an excellent comic over all, the best Nightwing we've had since Dixon. But there just isn't any tension, any suspense. And it didn't help that Heartless just vanished from the story or that he's not as engaging as Blockbuster. Still, it's always fun to spend time with Dick and Babs and Haley. But will Taylor find things for Dick to do in both this comic and Titans?

Plot was weak, solution was incoherent and even in a fictional land, wouldnt work based on the rules of this world, and never had any real pay-off except for the titans. Honestly this feels more like a 'mid' Titans book than a Nightwing. Just disappointing.

Dick Grayson is not allowed to become an actual adult in DC Comics, and is caught in this absurd time bubble as a endless "Young Adult." It is ridiculous. And how long will "The Titans" reboot sell, until DC Comics has to invent a "crisis" bandaid to cover up this latest screw-up. 12 years ago, in 2011, Dick Grayson led the Justice League AND the Justice Society of America -- as BATMAN. He was "grown up." I hate to see Dick Grayson going backwards to 21-year-old - I am so uncertain of myself YA character - I mean, come on - he has been a YA for 50+ years. At what point does Dick Grayson get an actual costume besides a jumpsuit, and a mask besides a domino mask? "It's a big ask." No it is not, Dick already led the JLA and JSA. Let Dick Gra more

The only redeeming quality of this book is the interaction Dick has with Bruce. Other than that, this book is a shit show. The only reason this seems to exist is because Tom Taylor wants to make a statement about the prison system. He mentions multiple times that prisons are filled with innocent people and the only reason for a prison is to make money. I love when writers make statements about things they don't understand. Did he not just hear the story about the charity Danny Glover is a part of? This is recent. The charity pays bail for people who can't afford them. They paid bail for a person that had been arrested, once he was out on the streets, he committed additional crimes, including beating a clerk so severely that he was put in th more
