Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters #2

Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters #2 is just as good as Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters #1. The story, artwork, and cover all make this issue well worth the price of admission. If you are currently reading this series you must pick this up and continue – you wont be disappointed. If you are a new reader, you can easily read this series without getting all the tie-in issues from the other Star Wars monthly titles. This issue is filled with detailed drawings that come alive on the page. The palette is inspired by watercolors and creates the perfect tone for the story being told. Each page is interesting. Blending together humor with adventure, the stakes might not be as high as saving the entire galaxy from the tyranny of the Galactic Empire, instead letting supporting characters shine, all while offering interesting context to how Han Solo would end up in possession of Jabba the Hutt. Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters #2 is a good setup issue that features a ton of familiar faces all rendered expertly. The issue suffers a bit as it's more about building up tension and establishing the scene, but it certainly promises for an explosive third issue. Read Full Review

I'm enjoying the big picture storyline but this repetitive aspect with the two issues out this week is incredibly frustrating and left a bad taste in my mouth. It has its moments and I'm amused by some of Soule's characterization of Fett that doesn't make him the ultra badass of the galaxy, but I spent too much of this seeing the same dialogue and scenes from a different book I had just finished to really enjoy it. I can't believe Boba Fett doesn't have his own ongoing series by now, especially considering some of the lesser known and less interesting characters in the Star Wars universe that do (i.e. those in the current Bounty Hunters ongoing series).

Issue 2 of War of the Bounty Hunters is actually better then the first in my opinion. Although some of the dialogue at times were cheesy and little cringy, Charles Soule seems to have a grasp on what's going on. The coloring for this issue is much better then the last, and dialogue as mentioned previously is better. The panels are perfect, and the ending was made me say oh shit out loud. However, this makes me wonder why Vader or the Empire gave Solo away to Fett in the first place, only to try and reclaim him. Hopefully this gets addressed in issue 3.
