Had my eye on this series for a while due to the high-concept story drawing comparisons to Jonathan Hickman's work, which was more than enough to sell me. We aren't given much information here in this first issue, but it does set up an intriguing mystery within an interesting sci-fi world, and I really enjoyed this as an opening. It's very clear that Blake has some serious writing chops and I was stunned to see just how gorgeous his artwork is too. To have such high quality writing and art in a creator's comic debut is rare and extremely impressive. I'm very much looking forward to reading more.

A slow, but very intriguing start. Blake does a solid job of introducing his world to us without overloading on the details, which can often be a problem in sci-fi, as he chooses to splinter the narrative with multiple sections that each focus on a different character. It's a fairly smart choice that provides the reader with an easy entry into the world. Unfortunately that entry might come off a little too easy at times, as the issue tends to zoom by as you read it because the details are a little too sparse at points.

This is a really hard issue to review/rate. The art is absolutely fantastic imo, great line work and just pure eye candy. The coloring is also top notch. The writing is pretty good but the plot is weird and doesn't really give us much yet. I feel this is a comic that will be better reviewed/rated as a whole than as it's individual parts. There was definitely enough for me to like in the issue to purchase the next one or two but if the next couple are the same without much answers, I may have to drop it.

The setting is interesting and leaves me bit curious. Can't say too much about it, there wasn't many lines to help start to build anything. That's possibly the point to start interest. Might give it another issue.
