I think: (a) Joshua Williamson's story-telling talents have long been over-rated, and (b) that they are taking that finite talent/skill and stretching it way too far. It is not fair to him or the paying readers.

Jul 05, 2022Dark Crisis #2 focuses on providing the action expected of this sort of summer blockbuster while sneaking in major plot points towards the issues end. Williamsons willingness to let Jon Kent shine as Superman is the strength of the comic, but a lack of revelations as to Pariahs plans mean most of the plotting is dedicated to solidifying the titles cast of heroes. That those heroes are not simply the original Teen Titans, who have always been considered heir-apparent to the JL but are presented as inept here, is something of a puzzler. Jul 11, 2022Another rollercoaster ride of an issue, with barely a moment to catch breathe. That being said, as much as I genuinely enjoyed the issue, there is a whiff of Ive seen this all before about this. Its set piece comics, where big set piece fights link the story taking place. The obvious corporate influence is in there as well, promoting Black Adam to star because he has a film coming out. He is, in DC Universe terms, a mass murderer remember. Odd choice to lead a Justice League. The GL Corps bit was nice though, as was Nightwing punching Slade in the face. The art, by Daniel Sampere, was superb, gorgeously rendered and making light work of the complex script he was given to illustrate. Everything from the setting to the actual Nightwing vs Deathstroke and Superman vs Cyborg Superman fights hit the way you expect. The only thing that holds Dark Crisis #2 back is the disconnect with how The Great Darkness is being built up as the endgame threat of this event. Jul 05, 2022While the story doesn't impress me with the progression that we're getting, what is impressing me is the feel of the book with the situations that it's presenting and the characters that it's dishing out. I'll tell ya, I get one of my favorite DC Comics heroes and one of my favorite DC Comics villains showing up in this issue and neither have been featured in forever! We also get Nightwing being badass and since he refuses to do much of anything badass in his series, I'll take what I can get here, especially when it's against the Darkness infused Terminator, Deathstroke. Fantastic second issue, just as the first one all characters are acting as they should, high stakes on this crisis, at the same time this event is huge, it doesn't feel like the biggest bullshit in the universe like Death Metal. Its about legacy and love to the DC Universe. - 0.5 because Beast Boy is not dead. The last few pages make me believe Kyle will get some love, and as a huge fan, I couldn't get more excited

Overall, a very good issue. The Nightwing vs Deasthstoke fight was great, and Jon showing up to help was nice. My only concern is that the pacing was a bit too slow, and we still don't really understand the great darkness or Deathstroke's motives.

This was another well-done issue. It focused primarily on the action of Deathstroke's assault on Titans Academy. I loved the Green Lantern content at the end of the issue and the art continues to be solid.

williamson's writing & samprre art propels this second chapter of a surprisingly fun & intriguing story. Issue two provides a very impressive confrontation between Nightwing & Deathstroke that I hope goes down in history, as one of the best Interaction between these two. You feel the history between these characters, the anger, hatred, pain both has brought. Even more, you feel the embarrassment Slade Wilson wears on his shoulders simply for having this long of a conflict with a group of teens. Its amazing. Furthermore this issue establishes that this conflict has brought pain & hurt across the entirety of the titans roster. I really did like this. The action was very fluid and memorable, it was creative. Dont like how Deathstroke is now a jobber and loses, but the story and plot is very interesting. The art and pacing is good, and overall I dig on how the story is going.

I have lots of mixed feelings about this. The art was great, all the fights looked cool but the story felt... slow? To start, I must say that Beast Boy being alive is a good thing, I'm relieved for that. (And it's funny since almost the same happened way back in New Teen Titans #10 and 11) Again, the artwork was amazing, and that was my favorite part about it. Seeing Kyle at the end was my second favorite thing, the ending here definitely hypes up the next issue. But, we're promised this big fight between Dick and Slade and the whole thing was posted by the artist on social media or some site posted it. It was so short that I felt tricked(?). Great art fun fight scene but a big old " meh " from me on this event so far. It still has potential to be good. But A crisis book should not be " good " it should be amazing and talked about for years to come. I doubt anyone will be talking about this event by this time next year.

Outside of the last page, ugh. And the genocidal Black Adam is going to lead the Justice League? And Dick Grayson shouts "this is a job for Superman"? PUH-leeze. Just pathetic. And THIS is Josh Williamson, not one the new YAF / horror comics intern writers. So the reason I am not ranking this as a 1, is the last page. My advice would be to save your $$ for next issue and see if the Virdis (that is a clue) group on the last page does something in next issue. A shame to pay for an entire comic and everything but the last page is a literal waste of money.
