Klein brilliantly brings horror and visual terror with every page and panel. There is a wonderful sense of dark dread throughout the issue and I look forward to every new issue. Read Full Review

The horror element to The Incredible Hulk continues to grow and expand. I absolutely love these dark and disgusting issues. The body horror is turned up to 11, which I believe fits so well into The Incredible Hulk's vibe. It's also interesting to explore more of the Hulk/Banner relationship on and emotional and psychological level. To see them both exist at the same time and interact rings on some heavy moments. After they work together and defeat Sumanguru, we get the next piece of the puzzle to saving Charlie. I'm totally invested in seeing her saved and what that will mean for The Hulk and Banner. I continue to like the book overall as the talents involved are strong and the material put to the page itself is engaging and a solid read. But it's running over familiar territory that's so well worn over the decades that it's just frustrating from that perspective. I know, comics always have to feel like they're introducing these pathos elements for the first time for new readers, but this method felt problematic and outdated decades ago and continuing it still is just becoming more of a problem. I have no doubt that this team can do some brilliant work as we've seen it earlier in the run but leaning hard as they do into this aspect is like revisiting Uncle Ben's death once again. All Bruce needs to do is yell out Martha at this point. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - mrgabehernandez

The Incredible Hulk #13 delivers monsters, smashing, horrific gore, and (at last) a journey with purpose and direction. Phillip Kennedy Johnson has finally gotten off the monster-of-the-month hamster wheel to present a story that feels like it's going places, and Nic Klein returns to restore the series' art quality. Sadly, the momentum will take a hit when the series gets sidetracked with a Blood Hunt tie-in next month. Read Full Review

    The Comicbook Dispatch - StoryBabbler

Incredible Hulk #13 delivers the second part of the Soul Cage story. In this comic we get some solid character interaction between Bruce and Hulk especially Bruce who stands up to the green goliath in a way that even caught Hulk off-guard. The grotesque horror and design of the Soul Cage is well done thanks to Nic Kleins art, and the heroes encounter with the Flesh-Weaver felt straight out of a horror story. The only downside is that the fight is pretty short-lived and Bruce is essentially sent off to another location in what feels like a side quest. Read Full Review

Great issue. Interesting art, well told story, my only grip being that the setting and Sumungaru aren't that interesting to me, but they got through this pit stop quick enough. On to Vegas!

Kleins art is the reason for reading this series and the way they keep jerking him off and on the book is terrible. Shame on Marvel. The story itself was great, and amazing art. My main let down was the end and how easy it was to beat the Flesh-Weaver. Like isnt this guy crazy strong? A super evil sorcerer? This felt too easy to get what was needed. Maybe I am missing something.

The best issue in a while, in my opinion. Klein's art was killer, as per usual, and the story from Johnson was super solid. I did find it a bit odd that they kind of just ran through Sumungaru in one issue after how he was built up in the previous issue, but I do have a slight suspicion that he'll return after he cut Bruce's chest before he was summoned away.

Absolutely epic art from Klein, but this was an especially weak story. The Banner/Hulk dynamic is good, but far from original. I was shocked at how little happened in this issue. The setting gives Klein an opportunity to show off his abilities, but it doesn't redeem the book's shortcomings.

The art was fantastic. Really the main thing keeping this book afloat. I like the concept of the arc, but it's just not executed the best.

I'm glad to have Nic Klein back, but this book just feels like it's spinning its wheels. The story is not moving forward and everything feels like a side quest. In this issue he goes to a nether realm for no reason whatsoever, but to get a single piece of information. I'm pretty close to dropping this title, but it's so close to 800. This issue unfortunately feels like a missed opportunity. The story lacks direction and fails to move the overall plot forward in any meaningful way. The narrative feels disjointed and doesn't seem to have a clear purpose. Overall, it's a disappointing entry that doesn't live up to the potential of the series. Art is amazing though.
