An event With characters I haven't spent enough time with to be invested in. I'm still trying to understand what they were going for with this Ultimate universe, and why it became irrelevant so quickly.
Ultimate Endgame #3
THE END OF THE ULTIMATE UNIVERSE DRAWS NEAR! Inside the Maker's City, a desperate group of heroes battles the terrifying Children of Tomorrow and discover some surprising allies! While outside the City, the Ultimates and other heroes of the Ultimate Universe must deal with the unspeakable power that has just been unleashed! With shocking twists, pa...
I never thought I'd say this, but Superman Prime might be one of DC's biggest successes among their new heroes. Everything will depend on how they handle him going forward, but if managed well, they've got a hit on their hands on par with Deadpool.
Superman #36
After the shocking events of DC K.O., Superman is missing. But one hero steps up to take his place…Superboy Prime?! Normally, Prime has only been part of massive DC events, but now he gets a real shot at showing the world he can be just as great a hero as Superman! Superstar artist Dan Mora returns to Superman for an action-packed and fun adventure...
When the second issue is better that the first, I'm very hopeful for the future.
The art is so amazing, can't wait for more!!
Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #2
THE BEST NEW (NOT QUITE A) SUPERHERO SERIES IN THE UNIVERSE CONTINUES! Battle Beast has entered the Blood Games. This is bad news...but not for him.
While the Earth parts are interesting, well-paced, and engaging, everything happening on Asgard is mind-numbingly boring.
The Mortal Thor #8
THE SON OF THOR! Magni was the God of Strength and strong enough to refuse the rule of the Golden Realm. Yet even so, he could be hurt. For there came a day when two great friends went to battle in a land far from Asgard's light...and only one returned. This is the story of the SON OF THOR...and the day his great heart broke.
Absolute Batman #18
After the explosive reveal ending last issue, and Batman continues to fight Poison Ivy's mutated monsters and winds up uncovering an even more gruesome horror that has embedded itself in the city's very foundations. All while the Joker's machinations start to coalesce in a partnership with a new ally.
I'm sorry to say that Hickman, one of my favorite authors, managed to squander an incredibly strong concept with brilliant characters and a compelling premise. I don't know if there was editorial meddling or if Hickman simply lost interest in his original vision.
Either way, it remains a massive disapointment. To be clear, it's not bad, it's actually quite decent, but on every page you

Ultimate Spider-Man #24
THE END OF THE LINE! This is it, folks - the last you'll see of Spidey and his Ultimate friends by Jonathan Hickman & Marco Checchetto! That's all we can tell you!
Batman / Superman: World's Finest #48
They are the finest duo in the world—but which world? Forget Batman and Superman—welcome to a chilling tale starring their evil Crime Syndicate doppelgangers, Ultraman and Owlman!
The only reason I'm not giving this issue the highest rating: I think crossovers are a bad idea for this type of series.
Crossovers are what's killing American comics. Part of Absolute Batman's success, like Invincible or manga series, is that you don't need to read twelve parallel series to understand the plot: the main series stands on its own. It's a slippery slope, as the Ultimate

Absolute Batman #16
Part two of our Absolute Batman/Absolute Wonder Woman story- Bruce Wayne is on a desperate hunt to help his friend Waylon, now transformed into a monstrous crocodile roaming the sewers, consumed with a deadly hunger. Batman's last option for a cure is to turn to a god for help...but will he have to descend into the depths of hell to get it?
Ultimates #19
STUNG BY THE WASP! It's the Ultimate Betrayal! Wasp has been a double agent for the Maker's Council in the name of protecting her family...but now, with the Maker emerging, her treachery must be answered for!
Honestly, what has been going on at Marvel these past few years? On the art side, we are here bordering on an almost amateur level, and Straczynski, who has proven time and again that he can be an excellent writer, is delivering the bare minimum, and that's me being generous.
1776 #1
REVOLUTIONARY WARRIORS, ASSEMBLE! Calamity strikes when a mysterious force dares to tamper with the sacred threads of history. CAPTAIN AMERICA and his formidable squad of Marvel heroes leap into action! Their mission? To safeguard the founding of the United States of America! The fate of the nation hangs in the balance at the dawn of the Revolution...
Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum #5
What's truly at the end of the rainbow? We can't be certain, but we're pretty sure it ain't a pot of gold! Up to now it's been a peculiar, polychromatic pilgrimage for Superman: he's lost track of time under the influence of Purple Kryptonite, grown to skyscraper size via Cobalt K, revisited his adolescence by way of Speckled K, and traveled to the...
I didn't even make it through the title. Sometimes you really wonder who these comics are supposed to be written for.
Doctor Strange #1
STEPHEN STRANGE, STRANDED! After becoming Sorcerer Supreme of Asgard, Strange lost his chance at redemption - and revenge against Doom - when Loki murdered Thor, cutting Midgard off from the other nine realms. With no way home and few allies remaining in Asgard, Strange travels to Alfheim to investigate an emerging crisis. But in an unfamiliar land...
Batman #4
As Bruce Wayne investigates the Crown of Storms, Batman pursues Anarky and discovers a criminal conspiracy hiding in plain sight that will change the game for crime and criminals in Gotham City...and the world!
Best issue of Superman I've read in a long time.
Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum #4
Superman finds himself somewhere over the rainbow in this landmark issue- featuring the debut of a brand-new, canon-changing, sure-to-be-essential-for- all-time character! (At the very least, he's awfully cute!) What never happened to the Man of Tomorrow? The answer awaits in a form-bending, head-spinning, myxed-up melee of mites, men, and multicol...
Planet She-Hulk #1
SAKAAR, PARTY OF ONE! SHE-HULK is back, and she's... stuck on Sakaar?? Spinning out of Jonathan Hickman's hit cosmic epic, IMPERIAL, Jennifer Walters made a promise to her cousin, HULK, to watch over the planet Sakaar and its people for a few days. But it's been longer than a few days, and now She-Hulk is in charge of keeping the peace on a planet ...
Absolute Green Lantern #8
Who is Jo Mullein? The wielder of the green power reveals her deepest secrets...as her ex-wife decides whether to help her or turn her in.
I used to be one of the biggest Amazing haters back in the Zeb Wells era, but honestly I don't get the criticism this time. This arc's really good.
Amazing Spider-Man #15
THE SECRETS OF SPACE REVEALED! Spider-Man takes on a challenge of single combat to save his new crew and finds himself between a rock and a GIANT ALIEN BEAST INTENT ON HIS DEATH! Not only does Spider-Man learn aspects of his quest that he didn't expect, but his companions learn things about Spider-Man that THEY didn't expect. Witness the first full...
Wow, I can't find a single Reddit thread or review about it: that really shows how everyone feels a bit uncomfortable with this comic. Yet another legacy character born from an author's ego (and probably Marvel's push for synergy) that we'll never see again. She's going to join the new Sentry, Quasar, Ghost Rider, and the rest. (Honestly, Silver Surfer should have been a DC character. Marvel just more
Death Of The Silver Surfer #5
THE ALL-NEW SILVER SURFER?! The Silver Surfer is dead. Long live the Silver Surfer.
Absolute Batman Annual: 2025
Some of the biggest names in comics take a turn in the Absolute Universe! Daniel Warren Johnson and James Harren tell tales from Absolute Batman's early days! How did Bruce acquire his batmobile? And what was it like for Black Mask's party animals when Batman first hit the scene?
This comic feels like everything one shouldn't be when making a story with set ending in mind.
And that is: it tells, it doesn't show.
I can always praise art here. I do love it. But the timeskip we got, was way too major. What is left is us being told multiple things without us actually seeing them. We are given implication that they happened and that's it.
