Get Your Comic On - Neil Vagg

    Mar 11, 2026

Absolute Batman continues its run as one of the most dynamic, astonishing comics in the pantheon of DC. The story of Pamela Isley draws to a close in the most devastating way possible yet somehow Snyder leaves us on a rare note of positivity for the darkest of Dark Knights. Read Full Review

This book might be a very dark take on Batman, with some horrific visuals every month, but it also has a surprising sense of humor that works very well. Ivy was a compelling threat, but she’s just an appetizer for what’s to come, as we get another tease for the extremely intense Jack Grimm – and the potential coming of our first Robins. Absolute Batman #18 truly feels like the end of year one for this version of Batman. He is able to shed the thing that holds him back which is Bruce Wayne all the while there is the Court of Owls that looms ominously on the horizon. We get beautiful artwork mixed with teases of Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon holding the Bat cowl setting us up for year two. Read Full Review

From the start, Absolute Batman has thrown a lot at readers all at once, but so far, most things have stuck. This current arc has been no different, and things are starting to become clearer than ever. Absolute Batman #18 feels like the calm before an inevitable storm, only in this case, the storm may have already been here all along. Read Full Review

Ivy’s ideas for Gotham come to an incredible finish with more dangers lurking for Batman in waiting. Snyder’s horror presentation checks all the boxes for the writing. Canete’s art delivers on the heavy consequences involved with this mission. There is never a doubt of the high level of storytelling involved with this series! Read Full Review

Conclusion & RatingAbsolute Batman #18 gave me exactly what I needed—context for Martha, inner turmoil for Bruce and a worthy argument from Poison for her actions. This was all told in a fast-paced multi layered story where we had the A storyline—Batman versus Poison Ivy. Followed by two compelling B storylines; Martha and the Court of Owls, and Bruce struggling with what Batman has turned into in the eyes of the people. Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez

    Mar 11, 2026

Absolute Batman #18 delivers a ferocious, emotionally loaded climax to the Ivy siege that respects your time by giving you a real turning point, not just another round of spore punching. As a financial and reading investment, you get a clearly articulated conflict that pushes Batman across a moral line, a bold visual take on the “Seventh Kingdom” concept, and enough political intrigue around Martha, the Court, and Gotham’s power structure to make this feel like a hinge issue rather than disposable filler. The tradeoff is that the script loads a lot of setup for future arcs into these pages, and the art occasionally sacrifices clarity for sheer spectacle, so if you prefer leaner, more self-contained chapters, this will feel slightly overpacked.8.8/10We hope you found this article interesting. AIPT - David Brooke

    Mar 11, 2026

Absolute Batman #18 closes the Poison Ivy arc with speed, spectacle, and a crucial character shift. Snyder pushes the Absolute universe further from the familiar DC playbook, revealing a Batman who may be willing to cross lines the classic version never would. The Court of Owls twist adds weight to the mythology, while Canete’s grotesque Ivy designs make the action unforgettable. The pacing can feel chaotic due to the heavy crosscutting, but the energy rarely dips. By the final page, the message is clear. This Gotham is getting darker, and this Batman is prepared to meet it on harsher terms. Read Full Review

Absolute Batman #18 was a fun issue. I really think the last 2 issues have been more of the Batman I want.At least when the focus is on Batman. Absolute Batman #18 has none of the Giant stadium filling villains full of ridiculousness and dumb things . We get a lot in this issue. A great story with Batman vs Ivy that has played out wonderfully.( Spoilers- Gordon admitting he knows who Batman is,Harley returns, and Martha Wayne with the Court of Owls expanded a little more. Batman proves how resilient he is and undergoes an evolution of his own by stories end. The art is beautiful and works perfect for this type of story. All said and done this issue was a ton of fun and not the usual big Dumb Batman we get. Synder does good character work more

This was a really good issue. I loe Eeric Canete's art, how Bruce's mother was a Talon (maybe thats how Bruce gets all his violent tendecies from), Comissione Gordon knowing Bruce is Batman. This series definitely feels like Scott Snyder is having so much fun writing Batman more than new 52 Batman. It's like he has full creative control that just happens to be Batman.
