Comics "stopped" being an escape from real life in 1940, when the first Captain America issue was released, where in the cover he punches Hitler.

A confusing and convoluted issue. I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t get a satisfying conclusion to this mess next issue.
Uncanny X-Men #28
Our wildest UNCANNY story yet continues! A mysterious turn of events brings the NEW MUTANTS to the UNCANNY X-MEN, and the Outliers are nowhere to be found! All this plus the SECRET of Graymalkin Prison's INMATE X revealed at last! Who is this incredibly lethal mutant powerhouse, and what does it mean for mutantkind?
Iron Man #5
ADVANCED IRON MAN ATTACKS! Madame Masque and A.I.M. have won. They unleashed their very own battle armor made from the new technology built by the "new Tony Stark" and now it wants to kill the real Tony Stark. Tony must confront his own nightmares before he can survive. But even if he makes it out of this one alive…he will witness the creation of h...
Geiger #23
THE NORTHERNER: DEAD AMERICA, CONCLUSION. The wild conclusion to the Geiger-Northerner team-up that asks more questions about what started the Unknown War…and how they could potentially go back in time to prevent it. But when they finally reach Detroit to get answers from the Department of Historical Preservation, what they discover is shocking…
Great story. The art is fine, nothing special, but really shines in the Red Hulk scenes.
Captain America #11
DOOM'S ULTIMATE WEAPON REVEALED ON THE ROAD TO ARMAGEDDON! Steve puts aside his mission to protect Victor Von Doom's ultimate weapon from both the U.S. and Latveria, which puts him on a dangerous collision course with RED HULK'S ALL-NEW, ALL-HULK strike team! But there are some wars not even Captain America can win… Witness the spark that starts th...
Yet another artist change, back to “regular” artist Valerio Schiti. There are some confusing panel transitions, but overall, it’s passable work.
The writing is becoming a problem for me though. The reveal of the villain was so predictable. Plus, the allegories to current political events are so in-your-face, it’s not really fun reading this anymore. When did comics stop being an escape from r

Captain America #10
UNITED THEY FALL ON THE ROAD TO ARMAGEDDON! A shocking betrayal leaves Captain America’s S.H.I.E.L.D. team at odds – just in time for Doom’s ultimate weapon to be dragged into the light. But it’s not what anyone thought it was, and as an all-out feeding frenzy ignites between Salvation, Red Hulk and S.H.I.E.L.D., it’s up to Steve to get his hands o...
I see your point, however, I think that even that comic was an escape from reality, as it gave people a hero that could stop the conflict by simply punching the bad guy. Nothing against superheroes being human and having doubts, but in the end, we want them to be heroic and do the right thing.
Horrible, horrible art. And this nonsense about Galactus being a "universal constant" is insane, considering he's killed billions of people.
Fantastic Four #10
THE INVINCIBLE WOMAN: FINALE! The Invincible Woman has made it to Earth, which is already fending off an invasion it can’t win. If humanity doesn’t win this fight, it won’t win any of them ever again. There’s still the tiniest sliver of hope - if the Fantastic Four and S.H.I.E.L.D. can work together. But will it even be enough? And if the Invincibl...
The art has its moments, but the story - although based on an interesting idea - doesn’t really work.
Jubilee: Deadly Reunion #1
Deadly Reunion! Jubilation Lee always puts her life on the line for those in need – but for family? She’ll do anything! When the cousin she never knew is in sudden need of help, Jubilee tracks him down to save him! But Jubilee may find that her familial bonds aren’t as strong as she hoped! What secrets does her cousin hold? And what dangerous mutan...
Phillips’s story is readable, but just not that exciting. The art is a mixed bag as well - mostly solid, but very sketchy and not something you really want to look at.
Daredevil #2
A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH! MATT MURDOCK, once a noted attorney, now goes by a new title: college professor! But when the mysterious, future-seeing villain OMEN targets Matt himself, it’s DAREDEVIL who’ll be taught a brutal lesson: When your enemy already knows what’s coming, every choice is a matter of life and death!
Ramos is not my favorite artist for the FF, but at least he knows how to draw dynamic action - and this issue has a lot of it. The story works surprisingly well too, which isn’t often the case with Ryan North.
All in all, this is probably one of their better issues, which doesn’t say much, since it’s still the worst run in the history of the FF.
Batman #9
After making a sinister deal with Mayor Isley, Commissioner Vandal Savage initiates “Operation Peregrine,” sending his brutal TUCO squads across Gotham City on a singular mission: Bring in the Batman! Batman and his team must destroy and abandon their hideouts, safeguard their data, and escape the long arm of the law… but not everyone will make it ...
X-Men #29
DANGER ROOM: PART FOUR! Rest in peace, X-Men! The Danger Room's victory seems all but assured with the X-Men scattered, broken and beaten. But the X-Men have been thought dead and buried before...and always have they risen from the graves their enemies put them in.
I would prefer having no Storm series at all over this garbage. Another character ruined.
Storm: Earth's Mightiest Mutant #4
FURAHA, STORM's daughter, has arrived!
A new artist already? With Stefano Raffaele we don’t get the weird inks this issue (except in the flashbacks Buckingham did), but unfortunately, the facial expressions come across as bland and emotionless, which creates a weird contradiction to the story that focuses on the human side of superheroes. All in all, I still thought this was fun and entertaining.
Wonder Man #2
SIMON WILLIAMS: WANTED FOR MURDER! After last issue’s shocking reveal, SIMON WILLIAMS is left to pick up the pieces. But who is truly to blame? And would Simon take the fall for someone else’s crime?
A satisfying conclusion to an underwhelming story with excellent art.
Skinbreaker #8
MINISERIES FINALE Who will lead them now? ROBERT KIRKMAN and DAVID FINCH’s epic reaches its action-packed conclusion!
Pretty violent issue. How is this different from Punisher: Red Band?
Also, I miss the artist from that series.
Punisher #3
WAR ZONE! WILSON FISK. TOMBSTONE. And now…JIGSAW. The criminal element has its boot on the neck of New York City, suffocating it, strangling it, with crime, drugs and fear. But one criminal, THE PUNISHER, is worse than all of them and eager to put the rest in the ground where they belong!
I didn’t hate it. Extra points (not really) for Nightcrawler speaking correct German.
Uncanny X-Men #27
Gambit’s curse takes a terrifying turn, as legendary guests come to Haven House, and a sudden DEATH throws the mutant world into chaos. It’s a story you never thought you’d see and one you won’t want to miss!
“Our Kryptonite” by Meltzer/Larraz
Okay, I admit, I read this comic mostly because I love Pepe Larraz. However, I ended up enjoying this story a lot. It was a smart move by Brad Meltzer to build his story around the different power sets and personalities of these two iconic characters, that everybody, even the most casual comic reader, is familiar with. The result is a timeless tale, perfectl

Spider-Man / Superman #1
THWIP, THWIP AND AWAY! Fifty years ago, DC's Man of Steel met Marvel's friendly neighborhood wall-crawler, and the world of comics has never been the same! In celebration of that historic milestone, thrill to ALL-NEW tales of SPIDER-MAN and SUPERMAN and their friends and foes! Brad Meltzer and Pepe Larraz pit Spider-Man and Superman against LEX LUT...
The art is better than last issue, however, I don’t like it when there’s a new artist almost every month. This is how you lose readers, even if the story is as strong as this one. Just settle on a fricking regular artist, Marvel. My favorite would be Delio Diaz.
Captain America #9
A CAPTAIN CORNERED ON THE ROAD TO ARMAGEDDON! After discovering how far Salvation’s TRUE LATVERIA insurgency is willing to go for power, Captain America goes rogue, throwing in with the LATVERIAN LIBERATORS to take down Salvation before he can become the next Doctor Doom. But Salvation is prepared for Steve’s next attack, and his new ploy has heart...
You would think that the comic building up to a major story would have one, strong, consistent artist.
Redcoat #17
Cheers, mate! Simon Pure here, the roguishly handsome immortal soldier whose amusing adventures you’ve no doubt been following. Alas, I cannot in good conscience tell you much about this chapter of my sordid past. Least of all before you spy issue #15’s surprise so spectacular…well, I’d best leave it at that.
