What part was woke? Not asking aggressively, I legit don’t remember a woke part in this issue.

Uncanny X-Men #230, the issue that this new #1 is a prequel for, was my first American comic book (after reading a few of the older issues as German translations). The outback era is still my favorite run in all the X-books, so naturally, I was expecting the worst when this new series was announced. Marvel has done a few mini series about specific eras in x-history, and none of them were able to c more
X-Men: Outback #1
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK! Journey back to a time when the public believed Storm, Wolverine, Rogue, Colossus, Dazzler, Havok, Psylocke and Longshot were dead. But from the shadows, these X-Men protected humanity from their Australian headquarters! But why did the team choose the Outback as their home base? How did tensions between them almost tea...
Like most genX x-men fans, I LOVE the outback era so I was thrilled when I saw the solicits for this book....and then I saw who was writing it. Blech. Imagine my surprise when I wound up really enjoying the comic. If only my 2099 books were handled with as much care. This was great and really felt like a time capsule and love letter to that era of X. However, the whole "we're here as guests in th more

You can read this in under two minutes. That is always a bit of a turn off for me but the fact that the story is meant to be a more visual experience and the visuals aren't up to snuff makes it even worse. If the art was amazing I would be more forgiving but here it's just basic and very dull. I love cosmic/space horror and that is probably why I'm rating this as high as I did. I'm also glad I onl more
The Eye Collector #1
The startling first issue of the strangest series on the stands! An ancient being has its curiosity toward Earth reignited when the humans of the Apollo 10 mission make wishes over the Moon. What is this spectral creature, and what does it want with our world? Seeing is believing…
One of the few books I think is worth the $5 price tag.
Absolute Batman #21
Friends become enemies. Enemies become friends. Final forms are revealed, and Scarecrow’s reign of terror threatens to upend everything.
Proof that bad and woke comics can be successful.

I don't think anything here is. Things we wouldn't have batted an eyelash at once upon a time have been extremified for the last ten years and now EVERYTHING can feel like it has a political "vibe". Maybe saying the soft spot is where the real power comes from? Prob referring to the series as a whole. Race/gender swaps ect. Woke? Maybe a little. I don't think so, but bad??? No way. This title is epic.
I only read this because the cover really caught my attention and I'm glad I did. This is the first issue of Catwoman I've read since the whole wedding debacle so I wasn't caught up on the current plot. The fact I really didn't need to be in order to enjoy this book is one of the things I was highly impressed with. I've also read several Gronbekk books and was not wowed by her writing, so the fact more
Catwoman #87
Black Mask has a special game for Catwoman to play—and the prize is Holly Robinson’s life! Selina better hurry up though, because time’s running out on the clock!
Little slow, the dialogue is hit or miss (mostly on the miss side for me), but I love the concept and art and I'm excited to see where it goes!
M1: Monster Racing League #1
An all-new ONGOING series launch from legendary JAE LEE (THIS ENDS TONIGHT, SEVEN SONS)! When 17-year-old Dev moves to Japan, she stumbles into an underground world of illegal street racing, where speed is power and mutation wins championships. This high-octane sci-fi drama, set in a near-future Tokyo, is Fast and Furious by way of K-Pop Demon Hunt...
The premise is a little tired but this title could still have legs, we just don't see much more than the basic set up in this first issue so there's no telling. The art style of Jae Lee lends itself more to dark and bleak coloring and here that's not the case. It was a bit jarring at first but after a second read it felt more normal. Am I the only one who felt like that at first?

I'm in agreement with your take on Storm. I've said it for years now. Editors, editors, editors. Feels like they just don't care or don't want to pay.
