Apr 26, 2023Hulk #14 is the big finale to the series as Bruce and his allies struggle to stop the rampaging Titan. It's evident that this comic is trying very hard to wrap up everything, and the resolution with Titan is over far too quickly. What keeps this comic alive is the epic art by Ryan Ottley who pulls double duty here as writer and artist, and the big reveal at the end provides a cool glimpse of who masterminded all of this. Apr 26, 2023Hulk #14 wraps up one of the more interesting takes on the Green Goliath, though it does so in a rather rapid matter. While I'm looking forward to Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein's take on the Hulk this June, there will always be a small part of me missing Hulk smashing his way through the stars. Actually, I love it. I wouldn't notice Ottley wrote the last issues if I didn't know it, so he did a good job, really. The run was unexpectedly a very fun ride and I really want this Hulk Planet to stay and be revisited every now and then. It feels like a solid addition to the Hulk's lore, I really hope it won't be forgotten. Before reading this, I thought the run will just be some temporary crappy thing between Immortal and new TIH, but it's cool as a standalone book and a very interesting part of Hulk's story overall. I think it was really worth it and the series deserves to be remembered no less, than the Immortal Hulk. Highly recommend it to those Hulk fans, that are still in doubt.

Though it's not one for the history books, this story wraps up in a neat, satisfying package. This issue gets solid art and some of Mr. Ottley's better writing--more tense and less verbose than past issues. I appreciate the dangling threads left for future investigation, which also tie back to Immortal Hulk in a way that's subtle and respectful, not crass or derivative.

Overall, the series was decent. Like a summer action blockbuster compared to the complex, layered paychological masterpiece that is Immortal Hulk. But to my mind, there's room in the world for both. I'm sure the intense hate this series is getting from some is due to its proximity to Immortal, but comparing the two is like saying a Kubrick movie is better than a Michael Bay one. A dumb and unnecessary statement.

Yeah, considering the situation, it's okay. It's not good as it had potential to be, but I think it's was best it could be after Donny left the title. Ottley killed it with the art tho.

Remember back when Brubaker's Cap run ended and Remender came on and took the book in a radically different direction? I felt like this Hulk run was similar to that, but it really got screwed up when Cates went MIA. Kudos to Ottley. Guy is a trooper. He was put in an impossible situation and did the best he could. Reading his note at the end, I legitimately felt bad for him. He is a great artist and I look forward to his next project.

It's truly a shame that this run ended the way it did. This wasn't necessarily bad by any means, but this run had so much potential to be great. I'm not going to blame anyone here, as neither Cates nor Ottley deserve any ill will for this. In the case of Cates, personal life comes first and I would rather him deal with that than continue to write at his own expense. As for Ottley, he was put in a tough spot here and he did the best he could. For someone not really known for writing, he did a solid job with the end of this run, and things could have definitely been a lot worse. Here's to hoping the new Incredible Hulk run from Phillip Kennedy Johnson & Nic Klein is good, as the promotional stuff so far has been very interesting.

Good but incredibly rushed ending due to Cates' personal issues (I hope you're ok, Donny!). This is becoming way too common for comic books, unfortunately... But Ryan did the best he could!

I feel that Donny Cates Hulk is like the Battfleck, Andrew Garfield Spider-Man, and DCEU Superman of Hulk series. This series ended on a flat note, but I'm giving it a couple extra points because Donny Cates had to leave for personal reasons, and Ryan Ottley was given the reins so I'm not going to fault Ryan Ottley for that. Also, the art looks good so thats a plus.

This issue is mid and messy, but the idea of the twist at the end makes the whole series much more clever in hindsight. It's a shame that the execution, which must've been meticulously planned, was then hampered by real life stuff. This whole run is kind of a shame. It had potential, clearly.
