You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
Oct 18, 2023Having firmly established the overall premise of an intrepid investigation into an alien world, Thompson is moving ahead, very clearly, in a very cool way, into a fascinating new direction or an adventure series. The reader learns a little bit more about the characters as they interact with another world that doesn't appear to be dangerous on the surface but is clearly going to be apocalyptically awful. There is a sense of urgency as the group searches for clues to Jakeys location. It's not very flashy, but I enjoyed this issue. I think next issue has to pick up the pace of the plot.

Horror movies are never an interest for me so when this issue started to toe the line and give me vibes of cliches, I became worried especially with the forced sexual encounters between characters. Just weird! But the art is beyond phenomenal from Mattia de Lulis who colors it in such a mesmerizing way that it's quite unique. The art alone makes this story worth following but I'm still intrigued by what's happening.

Kelly Thompson is always hit or miss for me. The artwork in this book is great--very cinematic. I was intrigued by the first issue even though there was very little story. Okay, I said to myself, it's character setup. I decided to give it another issue. However, once again, we have very little story. They step in the water, they don't even try to find a way back, just in case they are stuck there and then they have sex when their friends are waiting for them only a few feet away --- What?
