The black and white motif of this issue is visually pleasing. The drawings are intense and detailed. And the mood of each story is matched by the artwork. Read Full Review

If DC intends to extend this story beyond the six issues they announced, we need colors on these pages " especially for the sake of action sequences. Read Full Review

Jason Todd really needs a break. Let the boy take a vacation or something. I really hope things get straightened out soon, so Red Hood can come back into the fold. so that the rest of the family can eat their words. I don't see that happening in the next issue though, not with the way Future State Gotham #2 ended! I need to know what happens to our favorite disaster boy next! Read Full Review

I enjoyed City of Bane, Joker War, and Future State. And now the prequel to Future State, but how can we "catch up" if the Future keeps coming at us. Ponder that as you read this comic. Is it good? Yeah"but it should have been in Black & White where it belongs. Read Full Review

This issue was a real spike in quality for me. The story finally found its footing, and it took off running. I'm actually excited to see what happens next, and I was not expecting that with the way this mini opened. The art was also far more appealing to me this time around, and I hope it sticks. The backup story is also fun, I really enjoy John Ridley writing Jace, and I like that the character is being fleshed out. Read Full Review

Continuing to draw heavily on manga and cyberpunk sources with high energy action in a dystopian setting, Future State: Gotham pushes the overall story of Gotham forward with surprising and fun revelations, though they can't quite make up for the thinness of the plot so far. Read Full Review

Unless you need to get everything Future State, I wouldn't even think of buying this book.  Dipping back into an Event most readers have already left behind to do a lame manga ripoff is nothing I will ever recommend.  Maybe as a digital title, but even that would be pushing it!
