Sep 13, 2024Mystique #1 is a comic anyone can love, thanks to its strong use of the title character and a look at the state of S.H.I.E.L.D. Strong visuals and a good, thrilling story permeate the atmosphere of adventure and mystery. Read Full Review

Oct 16, 2024I enjoyed the artwork of Mystique #1 as its grittiness matched the tone of the comic perfectly. What showcased the artists talent the most is when Mystique changed into several different characters. The drawing style is quite different than anything that's come out of the From The Ashes era, and I think the story benefited greatly from it. Read Full Review

Super Hero Hype - Matt Morrison
Oct 15, 2024All in all, Mystique #1 is a perfect introduction to the post-Krakoa era of X-Men and one of Marvel Comics' most unique characters. Those who only know her from the movies should prepare for a shocking yet pleasant read. Those who already know her from the comics will be pleased to know time has not softened Raven Darkholme and she's just as vicious as ever. Read Full Review

Oct 16, 2024Mystique #1 is a debut which is good and shows potential. I'd have shortened the aspect with Maverick. Iinstead I'd have focused more on Fury and his being puzzled over the information on Mystique. That has the greater chance of landing for the story. It also has the overall vibe of the spy genre. More so than the rather generic action sequence opening. The comic can answer a lot of questions and might try, and it'll be interesting to see where it goes from here. But, as a start, it's intriguing but doesn't totally hook the reader. Read Full Review

Oct 18, 2024Of all the From the Ashes launches so far, Mystique #1 is something of an enigma, perfectly befitting its eponymous anti-hero. The vibes here are great writer/artist Declan Shalves visual storytelling are great as ever but the story presented hasnt totally gotten its hooks into me just yet. Thats totally fine, since its only the first issue, but because its the first issue it does present a problem. I like the stuff Shalvey is setting up here; I just dont completely have an idea of the broader scope. But as I said, it looks so good that it may justify the cost for some. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - mrgabehernandez
Oct 18, 2024Mystique #1 is a bland, convoluted affair that finds the shapeshifting mutant engaging in spycraft and murder for top-secret information. Declan Shalvey's tale won't move the needle in any direction, so you'll have forgotten this comic exists before you turn the last page. Read Full Review
