But Why Tho? - William Tucker

    Jan 11, 2023

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #2 is extremely fun. It is possibly the best teen or young superhero comic within the big two right now, filled with emotional gravity and a tremendously exciting storyline. Miles has a supporting cast to challenge him and enemies that are a huge test. The art is awesome and the guest star is a great example of what could be expected in further issues. Read Full Review

    COMICON - Scott Redmond

    Jan 13, 2023

'Miles Morales: Spider-Man' beautifully threads the needle of creating a very classic Spider-Man-type situation but in a modern way befitting the young biracial Spider-Man of Brooklyn and the issues he has to face. Miles deserves every bit of the same spotlight, maybe even more, that Peter has enjoyed for decades and this series catapults him back to his rightful place in the Marvel Universe. Read Full Review

Vicentini delivers some blistering action throughout the issue. There are some great visual moments with the characters themselves, but the initial Miles/Misty confrontation, the Scorpion fight and the Tiana confrontation are visually stunning. Read Full Review

Something good is happening here. With this second issue, this new series of Miles looks like it will achieve something really nice. With this issue, I made sure this was the team we really needed for Miles. Not much has happened yet in this first arc but I like giving Miles more of his own rogues as a young hero. Can't wait to see what Zigler has planned for the series. Vicentini's pencil style is kinetic and dynamic that we can really feel the moves of Miles Morales: Spider-Man. Miles is having difficulty processing just how difficult and frankly bizarre being a superhero can be and Misty Knight enters the story at this very moment. But I'm actually not a fan of the way this 'mentorship' thing is going with Misty, it's making Miles loo more

I feel very similarly to how I felt with Issue 1. Vicentini's art is great and Ziglar's writing is pretty good. I think Ziglar has found a nice, authentic voice for Miles that really fits him well. Plus, the story continues to be interesting. I thought his team-up with Misty Knight was fun, and I hope the relationship between the two continues to develop as time goes on.

It's fast and frantic, like the art. And that's a good thing--again, just like the art. The plot is developing nicely and the same could be said for the main antagonist. The surprise guest star is cool. The missing piece I'm wishing for is a little more depth in the characterization and relationships. Miles's angst and the problems that cause it feel a little thin, as does the advice he receives. There's nothing *wrong* with it, it's just stuff we've heard a million times before.
