Witness the adventures of Uncle Ben and J. Jonah Jameson in Ultimate Spider-Man #10 as they do their best to track down unsavory acts by Kingpin. The results are far closer to the ultimate threat of the Ultimate Universe. The threat and danger of The Maker is out for all the heroes, but this issue shows he may have an even bigger problem if the truth gets out to the people thanks to Ben and Jonah. Read Full Review

It's an issue you're going to want to pick up if you're heavily invested in this new Ultimates universe. And if you're not THAT invested, you should still pick it up because this feels like a turning point in the story. This is where things are going to change, and it's going to be great to see where they go from here. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - mrgabehernandez

    Oct 17, 2024

Ultimate Spider-Man #10 is a slow, tedious ride along with Ben and J. Jonah as they chase down a story with wide-reaching implications. Hickman is close to holding the record for the most number of Spider-Man issues without a Spider-Man. That said, the dramatic intensity picks up in the last act, and guest artist David Messina does a fantastic job filling in for Marco Checchetto. Read Full Review

Plot JJ Jameson and Ben get a close lead for their big article in "THE PAPER", they get a copy of the document of Kingpin's sale of the Stane/Stark company to Oscorp, through a series of shell companies, including Wilson Fisk's lawyer, Mr. Wesley. JJJ and Ben first ask Gwen Stacy, Harry's wife and investor in The Paper, who did not take it very well. MJ talks to Gwen and Harry arrives at The Paper office, who reveals that he is the Green Goblin, gives them proof that Kingpin works for The Maker, who is responsible for having altered history and that on his hands is the blood of Harry's parents and Aunt May. Without waiting any longer, Ben and JJJ review the evidence that Harry gives them and write an article uncovering Kingpin's powe more

Incredible. This was some great investigative journalism story with a lot of interesting character interactions. This issue reminds me of issue number four where there isn't any action, yet it's still very gripping.

I know some people are bored with this series but I hope when it's collected & they can read it in one go they will change their minds. When I read this it reminds me of how much I love one of the only masters left at the big two and how I wish Marvel would give GODS another series and let it simmer and play out like USM has been doing.

This is world building in its best form. I enjoyed reading about Ben and Jonah's investigative journalism. Unlike some other reviews, I think this is exactly what this story needed. Readers witnessing how the world views current events allows us to see the full picture. There's so much mystery to this new Ultimate world and Im in for it all.

It's fantastic. The main character can take a backseat every once in a while and allow the world to fill in around him. making more than just him feel alive. The slow moving methodical pacing and in depth characterization of every player in this story makes this one of the most enjoyable books on the market because Hickman is playing it with finesse while giving us the occasional bombastic centerpieces we come to expect from modern comics. Also, that hook at the end? Brilliant.

I'm impressed by and in admiration of Marvel for letting Hickman tell this story in this manner. We've had multiple issues without Spider-Man, and those issues have mostly consisted of people sitting around and talking. And they've been great.

Lots of talking, but has a lot of weight to it. You can just see we are building up to some kind of critical moment.

Slower pacing here, but still very good. I can't complain about the titular character not being featured a whole lot when we get writing like this. It was nice to see Ben and Jonah's investigation get some focus here after it was initially introduced back in the first issue. Their meeting with Harry was, arguably, the best part of this, as well. Just really nice stuff here overall.

Nice work and drama building. I'm glad they're letting Hickman do his thing here. David Messina's art is great. It looks like he changed his style a bit to match Checchetto and it looks nice.

I guess it was a decent enough issue. Very little to do with Spider-Man at all. Hickman definitely likes to build stuff up slowly, that's for sure. The honest truth is if the original Spider-Man comic started this slow it never would've lasted though. And while I liked seeing how things are developing for the team of Ben and Jonah I have to say the lack of Spidey action is making my interest weaken. While this outdoes anything else Marvel is currently putting out by far it's still not saying much since it's also all I get by Marvel anymore. I'd say my recommendation is that this is a book I'd suggest I'm not sure it's worth $5 a month for 6 issue arcs that never resolve anything. My suggestion is if you don't feel that way either but still more
