Batman: Killing Time #5 surprises with another shining example of fantastic pace and timing. The opening makes you feel for nondescript characters through details about everyday lives, all of which build up the impending conclusion when the series cuts back in time. As far as penultimate issues go, you'll be on the edge of your seat for every second of Batman: Killing Time. Read Full Review

But Why Tho? - William Tucker

    Jul 05, 2022

Batman: Killing Time #5 is a beautifully brutal comic. It is this intensely explosive release from all of the tension that had been brewing since the start of the comic. The diatribes about Ancient Greece and the tiger brawling were all leading to this confrontation. Kings scripting is excellent but the art may just be some of the best in any book DC has to offer right now. The first several pages are highly detailed about extremely graphic things, which was definitely unexpected and may take many by surprise. Read Full Review

This issue of Killing Time pushes action over plot, but in a balanced way. The story presses forward less because the characters are talking and more because events demand it. King juggles the cast of characters well, keeping everyone true to their motivations, and readers entertained throughout. It's another strong entry into this series. Read Full Review

Batman: Killing Time #5 peels back the veil of mystery on the series' biggest questions. The answers, however, are most remarkable for giving readers no surprises or satisfaction. Thankfully, the art is phenomenal, so come for the answers but stay for the art. Read Full Review

It all comes together here! King perfected the pacing in this issue loved this!

Better than the usual penultimate issue of a story. It looks like this story will end on as exciting a note as it began and has developed these past few months. This was King's best work in several years, that I must say. The Clock King appearing should be an interesting twist. King may have a chance to make what has always been a lesser villain into a more serious threat here. Another character of interest is The Help. I have a feeling King has plans to explore this character more. I just hope he doesn't make it take years. When that happens I lose interest before the character's secret is revealed. Usually a story this long loses my interest halfway through, but I'm looking forward to the conclusion of this to see what happens more than more

I really enjoyed this issue. It did feel more like a Batman comic than most of the comics out there. I liked Catwoman double-crossing Riddler and the appearance of Clock King. I'm interested in the artifact. I would have rated it higher if not for the first few pages. They just seemed to go on forever and only one or two of them connected with the ending. I am over the woman cursing in every text balloon. That's getting old.
