But Why Tho? - William Tucker

    Aug 17, 2022

Daredevil #2 is a gorgeous celebration of 650 issues for the character. Within it is a story that shockingly tries to alter history whilst paying homage to it. It may not be filled with supporting cast members or rogues gallery, but it glorifies one of Marvels greatest heroes. Read Full Review

    Comic Watch - Theron Couch

    Aug 18, 2022

Zdarskys exploitation of Matts established history as a Catholic who is a real believer even if not an actively practicing one adds an extra dimension to a philosophical discussion. If not for that, it might be easy for a character to dismiss Goldys claims. Matt doesnt really have that luxury. And in a certain way this plays into a reveal in the final pages. Zdarsky ultimately leaves Matts reaction to what Goldy tells him somewhat open-ended which makes Daredevil #2 a very compelling presentation of this theme. It makes for an exceptionally strong character story that highlights Zdarsky as an ideal writer for Matt Murdock. Read Full Review

Daredevil #2 (2022) sets up one of the most unique and intriguing villains in the Daredevil canon. How do you punch Fate? How do you arrest Destiny? It's an interesting idea that makes for a completely unknowable journey, and I'm looking forward to taking it. Read Full Review

Overall, an intriguing issue that celebrates a big number for the series but doesn't overdo that aspect. The only knock is an art shift in the main story that feels like a bit of a jolt before it's clear what's going on. Read Full Review

This is absolutely phenomenal! I am so intrigued by Goldy. As a massive daredevil fan this is everything I want in a daredevil story. I can't wait to get the next issue! This is brilliant

"God knows... the outcome of the play. But I still have to write the lines... and live with their consequences on his stage". The concept of Goldy as a character is such a crazy idea that it makes him one of the most intriguing new villains in Daredevil's rouge gallery. He's basically fate/destiny and so he brings cool new ways to test Matt's beliefs. the possibilities here are huge.

Seeing some hate for this issue but I think it worked well as both a continuation of the Zdarsky run and a fun landmark 650 issue. Enjoyed seeing some daredevil artists return as well.

Great issue that takes you through emotions. Not sure what to make of the guardian angel aspect just yet but this was a proper landmark issue.

Some absolutely gorgeous large scale art, and a new threat that is unlike what we've seen Daredevil face in a long time makes this well worth the buy. As usual, a lot of people are jumping the gun on a certain revelation in this issue, without much rational thinking or balance. This is the beginning of a story, and Zdarsky has more than proven himself able to tell good ones.

Really great main story! Not sure about Ann Nocenti's, though. I also really love the cartoon one-pagers at the very end.

This episode is a little slow, but it does a good job of building Goldy up into an insane, dangerous wild card. I find myself pretty tolerant of the retcon, even though origin-tinkering seems to be getting a little too common at Marvel right now. The clean flashback art contrasts very well with the gritty modern art (though things get pretty confusing in the train crash). I think the guest artist pages were nicely set up, though some were more impressive than others. The B strip is a nice little treat, too. Some good Zdarsky art and a Nocenti script that's clever but also comprehensible.

First off, let me say the retcon is fkin horrible. I'll give Zdarsky the benefit of the doubt to fix this down the line but right now just thinking about the Goldy character just angers me. On the other hand, the art was phenomenal, and the scene at the end with Kirsten was touching

Really cool to see a host of past Daredevil artists make some cameo appearances, and Checchetto always kills it, but other than the nice art this issue didn't have much else going on. This Goldy-guardian-angel stuff is a little strange, and I feel like this issue could've advanced the plot a lot more. We just got a lot of Matt and Goldy talking, and that's basically it.

Like the first issue, it was pretty good but, not near the quality Zdarsky has given us for Daredevil. I don't mind the direction, it just needs more excitement. The back up story's were not good.

This was OK to read and none of the retcon hit as it has for others and just falls flat. I almost don't care at this point and I think I need to step away from this book for a while. Zdarsky has lost a lot of his goodwill from the early dozen issues but Dark Reign was not good. It doesn't help that I'm currently reading the Waid/Rivera/Samnee run and it's much better overall. The art was good and not the problem here. Checchetto and Co are great!

I'm open to the Guardian Angel angle, but this issue was executed very sloppily. I'm totally confused as to the logistics of the train accident, was that train that derailed over Matt supposed to be the same train that had exploded or a different train? And why have Matt pursue Goldy to the construction site only to lose him "because of the rain?" Daredevil has performed far greater feats of tracking before this, it's a plot hole to have him foiled by a little rain in this moment. It would have been much cleaner writing for Goldy to give Matt the slip while he was pinned in rubble. The backup story with Zdarski on art and Ann Nocenti writing was nice. It can't be a coincidence that Zdarski brought Typhoid Mary back into the fold and now more

Nonsensical retcon and forgettable backup story. The best thing about this issue was the cover gallery at the end
