But Why Tho? - William Tucker

    Dec 27, 2023

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #14 is the perfect example of a tie-in. The Gang War crossover has been incorporated into the book without breaking stride, carrying on with all the character development and plot points. The book has been fantastic from the start and is brimming with personality and individuality, with an absolutely mind-blowing art style. Read Full Review

Comic Crusaders - Christopher R. Ford

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #14 Gang War continues the series' awesome run thus far. Bringing in the family conflict kicks things up a notch and makes things even more personal for Miles. But there is also balance. It's humorous, the pace is lighting quick, and the action is over-the-top comic book-y in the best way possible. Also throw in some great cameos (Peter finally re-enters the chat!) and an amazing cliffhanger/tease/reveal at the end, and you have another must-read issue. Read Full Review

While the script of Miles Morales: Spider-Man #14 is ultimately something readers might expect from tie-in issues, the line-art of the issue is something that elevates it to any entirely new level. Read Full Review

I'm sick of Uncle Aaron at this point. Everything else here works.

So far its been a big improvement over the last few issues. It is kind of falling into a trap though where he keeps running into the cape killers and having the same conversations. It's very action heavy but super excited to see Shift back!

A pretty solid issue here, but I will say that it did move a bit fast for me. Maybe it was just me, but I felt as though Ziglar really breezed through a lot of story here. Though, Vicentini's art was nice here, as always. I just hope things slow down just a bit in the next issue.

I don't buy Uncle Aaron's motivations just yet, but it was nice to see Miles get more agency with Misty Knight and Colleen Wing currently taken off the board. It's been a disappointment to see Miles' story seem the least integral to the broader Gang War event, but Federico Vicentini's art and Bryan Valenza's colors make this a visually appealing book even when the story leaves you wanting more.

I'm engaged with the way the story's developing, laying my little bets about what the villains are planning and how the heroes will stop them. As a big stan, of course, I'm happy to see that Surprise Final Page Guest Star. And I'm okay with the art; its frenetic style delivers some much-needed tension. This issue's script disappoints me, though. It feels like a rush job. The dialogue gets stilted at several points, and the mysterious questions intended to foreshadow future developments come off (to me, anyway) more like highlighting plot holes.
