Supergirl Comic Box Commentary - Anj
Nov 01, 2024This is an amazing plot twist, one that somehow makes me interested in Doomsday. I also think it makes sense for him to be the Time Trapper. Some know that I don't like when the Trapper is revealed to be another character. But this works! So overall, a crackling first issue filled with enough moments to be a true jumping on point. I know this technically isn't a masterpiece on the level of ten out of ten.... but my GAWD Joshua Williamson. he completely killed it with solid art, action, story, and characters. Dan Mora on Superman is something I didn't think would work, and this issue is so good.

Superman 19 was a clean fresh start for the series. It was a super fun read with some stellar artwork. It did leave me with a ton of questions ... mainly about how the heck is Lois now Superwoman - when last I saw her (Absolute Power and Action Comics) she DID NOT have any powers. To be honest I find the whole concept of Lois as Superwoman to be silly ... something I roll my eyes at, but the writing is good enough that I will be back for issue 20. Also ... ALSO ... the twist at the end was amazing!

Ah this hits all the rights spots. Dan Mora with Superman is just right. I loved every page. Bringing back Doomsday is also a win in my books as this looks like this might have some cool lore behind it. As for Lois being Superwoman... this has been done a lot before but as long as we establish that this is a short term thing then I think it is fine. Having an arc with her getting powers temporarily (which it is hinted at might be the case as they dont know if she can replenish from the Sun), is good with me. She gets a different perspective and Clark gets to spend some time with her. I also like that this time they both fight Doomsday vs when Clark just fought him and died. Kind of a nice call back there.

Dan Mora's art shines on Superman. I can't say that I'm a fan of the Superwoman idea since we've seen it so many times. I love the reveal at the end and Doomsday is drawn perfectly in this issue. He looks imposing and threatening. My comic review channel - https://youtu.be/eJxRh6u8Z88
