Apr 19, 2021Overall, 'The Ticket' is a great introduction to the Silver Coin anthology. The art makes for some superb panels and visual storytelling. I love the idea of the story and the characterisation work from Zdarsky is gritty, realistic and pretty funny. Readers will probably enjoy the mature humour and little sarcastic tropes. My only minor critique was I felt the plot ending could have been a shade more subtle. However, overall, this doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the issue and I will most definitely be reading issue two in May! Read Full Review

This book delivers. I cannot wait to see the next selection, which features Kelly Thompson with Michael Walsh. Zdarsky has a huge field open for him in future issues that could slowly reveal an arcane history for the coin that might slowly reveal very complex and convoluted mythology. Or will the coin function differently in each story? While the writers for The Silver Coin will change from issue to issue, the entire series will be illustrated by Michael Walsh, which is more than enough to keep me interested in the series. Apr 08, 2021If you're into the rock/metal scene or if you enjoy some horror, then The Silver Coin is for you. Since this story seems to be about the artifact, it might be best to avoid getting too invested in the characters; also, expect and embrace the clichs. But if you want to see some disturbing depictions of an egotistical rock star doing what egotistical rock stars do best, with heavy undertones of a malicious curse and promises of more bloody consequences in future issues, then give The Silver Coin a read (and let us know what you thought)! Huh. I really didnt know what to expect going into this series but I actually liked it a lot. It was engaging all the way until the end.

This was good, but a little abrupt. I found the main character insufferable. I think that's a trap horror comics fall into, so I'm sad Chip fell into it. I don't know, I just expected more from this.

A good start to this horror anthology. Zdarsky tells a pretty basic cursed artifact kind of story but I still enjoyed it. Walsh's art is what really elevates this comic.

The setting is very good, and the characters are mostly real. The comentary about the music industry is well done. However, I could not care about any of the characters that got a dreadfull fate, so when the story is near it's ending I was just like: "Okay".
