Weird Science Marvel Comics - mrgabehernandez

Blade #2 slows down the pace on the hunt for Adana to fulfill a side quest to rescue a mystical arms dealer who just may have the weapon Blade is looking for. Bryan Hill's mood, atmosphere, and personality for Blade are on-point, and the art looks great, but the urgency to find Adana takes a noticeable dip. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez

Blade #2 immediately takes us on a detour for a side mission that is possibly more interesting that the main story introduced in the first issue. While that is not a good thing for the main story it does show how well Bryan Hill builds chemistry as Blade and Tulip worked well off one another. Adding in the amazing artwork by Elena Casagrande makes Blade a comic book that continues to be a hit. Read Full Review

This is leaps and bounds better than the first issue. Hill is still on fire story wise (and I will get to that in a second), but the art and colourist are much better. Especially the colourist. Like I dont know if they rushed the first one or did it while impaired but it feels way better. Now as for the story. It is AWESOME! This is the best Blade issue I think I have read in... over a decade? This feels like an action movie. Blade get hooking up with an old flame who hates him but has got the weapons. An amazing action scene where he wipes out a helicopter by jumping out of a condo and then back into the condo before the helicopter goes down. Epic fight scenes, and he has emotions. Like action hero style emotions. Not stoic and emotion more

This series keeps rolling with its icy-cool cinematic style. The dialogue is lethally sharp, exciting action happens all over the place, and it's illustrated with incredibly stylish, inventive art. In my opinion, what holds it shy of greatness is that there's still no space for deep examination of the characters or ideas. This may be a Catch-22; if it were more insightful, it might have to be less stylish. I think the ideas would stand up to increased scrutiny, though. I hunger to know more about Rotha and her cult and I think the author could say a lot more on the subject.

I liked that the pace of this slowed down a bit here, as the first issue went by pretty fast. The story here is good, but at times it felt a little run of the mill. However, I still enjoyed a good amount, given my 8/10 rating. Plus, Casagrande's art is absolutely outstanding and definitely one of the strongest parts of this book, if not THE strongest. She's just on a different level with her art and I will always look forward to a book featuring her work.
