The Nice House on the Lake #12 has everything that made this series great, from exceptional writing from multiple points of view and characters, incredible powers from the lake house host, and some deliciously disturbing things to think about once all is said done. Don't pass on The Nice House on the Lake there's nothing else like it, and it's as cutting-edge and exciting as comics can get. Read Full Review

If like me, you've been following this story from the beginning, then this finale will satisfy you, but will also leave you wanting more. At least we now know that we'll actually be getting it. Read Full Review

The Nice House on the Lake functions as a pause point, much as issue #6 did before revealing new information and pushing the vast architecture of this apocalyptic sci-fi tale forward, an impossible invitation to resist. Yet its greatest promise remains in what still lies ahead. Read Full Review

    Graphic Policy - Ricardo Denis

If this last issue is meant to the closing of a part of a larger story, then it's easier to forgive the lax nature of it and its overreliance on text-only pages. As it stands, it doesn't really feel like an end. There's not even enough for an open-ended type of conclusion. In fact, it feels more like a recap with a big decision in the middle of it. If this really is how it comes to a close, though, then it's unfortunate its final moments unravel in a manner befitting of a middle chapter in a book rather than a concluding one. Read Full Review

Tynion's creator-owner work contains stories that are arguably deeply Lovecraftian without leaning on the usual tropes -- cosmic horror rooted in the insignificance of humanity in the face of incomprehensible alien powers. It's his skill in characterizing the people forced to confront these horrors that makes these stories hit hard.

This entire series is perfection and I hope that it continues. At the same time, it is perfect and whole and needs nothing else. It transcends genre, it surpasses all expectation. I've recommended it to people who never read comics and they've all loved it. I frequently exclaimed out loud while reading because it affected me in ways that had to be expressed. The most perfect series I've read since Saga (pre hiatus). A must read!

Did not expect to love this series as much as I did, but holy shit this is brilliant. Cycle Two day one, whenever it comes.

I think this is James Tynion IV's Magnus opus and is best work. Arguably just as good, if not better than Something is Killing the Children

The only negative about this is the wait for the next cycle is going to be agonizing. What a bold, ambitious, well done series.

I waited on reading this because I wanted to commit to reading the 11 issues before this again. So in 2 days I read the whole series with me finally getting to #12. It was solid. It does end the series well enough I guess. I just wish it wasn't just a tease for more at the end.

This was a pretty good wrap up, although I felt like the tease for more really just takes away from the entire story. I probably won't be reading the next cycle.
