Mar 28, 2024I would honestly be okay if DC just gave King the helm to all of Batman's Rogues' Gallery and let him create stories like this for other villains that may be seen as a joke. A Mr Freeze series, or heck, even a Riddler run would be so cool to read! Just caught up to this series. My biggest problem with Tom King on this series is that he's a genius writer, he's smart and intelligent. But he's trying too hard to be Alan Moore. He likes to use profanity a lot, and it comes off edgy. He literally narrates every minute small detail into thought boxes, and it comes off as dry and sterile. Not too sure about Batman teaming up with Penguin and letting him free. That being said, maybe my expectations were low on this. But this series so far is good, and it at least explores Penguin's psychology and the criminal underworld. I hope Tom King can keep up the momentum.
