After Task Force Z's first bloodbath-err, sorry, first mission-goes awry, Red Hood must rethink how to lead a team of unstable monsters against some of the most organized ranks of Lazarus resin dealers in the world. To manage this unruly bunch, Jason Todd is going to need a deputy in the field whom he can trust to be his eyes and ears...but on this team, such an ask isn't limited to the living. A ghost from Suicide Squad past returns in the cameo no one will see coming (that's a clue)! Plus: Bane's rampage, the Resurrection Twins get carried away, and more clues to the secret identity of the team's benefactor!

But Why Tho? - William Tucker

    Jan 01, 1970

Task Force Z #2 is a gruesome and extreme issue. The violence and unfamiliar surroundings that Todd finds himself in make it feel that nowhere is safe. Even his home base is filled with ravenous zombies. Rosenberg tells a superb horror comic within the mainstream DC Universe with characters that the readers care about. So when a known figure gets involved, the danger is real and pertinent. Read Full Review

From new teammates to insane fight scenes, TASK FORCE Z #2 continues to level up the crazy. The story beats are a bit far-fetched but original, exciting, and somewhat mysterious. Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Eric Shea

Things are getting crazier for Jason Todd as his ragtag group of deadheads are slowly being "fleshed" out and with the information learned here and the action involved I find myself really intrigued with what the overall story of this twelve-issue maxi is and can't wait to learn more.... not to mention how much Red Hood is going to suffer in leading these stink bags. If you're not reading Task Force Z yet, make sure you do because it's a blast. Read Full Review

    Batman-News - Casper Rudolph

It's another solid issue. It has good art, an interesting story with twists and turns, and a very cool cast of characters. But what really makes me recommend this book is the fact that it's just so damn fun. We need more fun in comics, especially in a time when many superhero books are really depressing. We can only hope that this series will continue to be consistent, but right now it's entertaining as hell! Read Full Review

The Batman Universe - Hannan Mouawad

    Nov 25, 2021

Overall, this series is shaping up to be something fun, different, and interesting. There's a blend of characters, from new ones like Hanna Hobart to classic Batman villains like Bane and Man-Bat, and others that have yet to be made known, like Crispin. Jason's character is well-written; his dry sarcasm pitted against Crispin's aloof remarks aren't done in poor taste and balance neatly. The Lazarus pits, while referenced and heavily used throughout comics, haven't quite been fully fleshed out regarding their mythos and capabilities, and this series has the potential to insert something new into the world of DC Comics. You can tell Rosenberg and team are trying to stand out, but they're dangerously short from holding themselves back from that goal. At the very least, it seems like the book is moving in the right direction"it's just not quite there yet. Read Full Review

I don't like the way Rosenberg gives any character personality, however the narrative was decent, the art is good, and the villains are interesting.

taking this as out of canon, well it's pretty decent, down a bit of Matt's trademark humor which I appreciate.

Yes! They finally decided to bring Deadshot back, there was no need for him to die senselessly just because idiotic Tom Taylor needed a shocking death for people to read his stupid Suicide Squad run, one of the worst Squad runs in the last few years. This was better than the first issue. I'm starting to warm up to this, Bloom is up to no good.

This comic is... strange. It has a lot of text, little action for a title that implies action, but is still cool - I don't really know how, just enjoyed. And, of course, Eddy Barrows' art is always incredible.
