I'm pretty bummed that (as of the posting of this comment) we are the only two people who have reviewed this book which is easily one of the best things DC is putting out right now. I'm excited to see what they do in the crossover, but I hope Jeremy Adams and Thompson/Hopeless have more control than Sheridan (I read the Future State Titans book and was unimpressed with his writing). I honestly love Ambush Bug: they're clearly not taking him too seriously without making his gags pretentious.

Feb 01, 2022This visually appealing issue has tons of action sequences that are exciting and transportive. Special attention is paid to both the forefront and background of each panel in a manner that is fully engaging and emotionally connective. This attention to detail is also shown in the content laden scenes and provides an insight into the characters' mindset. Read Full Review

Feb 02, 2022I have grown to truly despise Amanda Waller" and not in the like, you love to hate them way. No, no, loathe the character at this point, which is why Suicide Squad works so well for me. Read Full Review

Feb 01, 2022This one-year anniversary issue has a lot of action, including a stunning reveal of a major player from another world, but it suffers from most of the characters being fairly flat. Read Full Review

Feb 06, 2022It's a very hard balance to keep where a single issue can bring us classic, pulp comic book action alongside well-handled literary tropes, yet Suicide Squad #12 brings this quality of storytelling front and center. We have an ambitious and masterful team, who seem to be able to tell any story imaginable. Read Full Review

Feb 01, 2022The characters we have are still solid.... except for my personal disdain for Ambush Bug. Still, it really feels like this storyline has outstayed its welcome. While we are moving towards the War For Earth-3, which I am looking forward to, the character interactions and relationships previously made this book feel special. Unfortunately, the scavenger hunt-style storytelling has left me wanting, and in this issue, we barely get anything that feels satisfying to what we've been dealing with. Yeah, the art is still great, but I hope that by the end of the War For Earth-3, we avert the direction that Future State was taking us. Read Full Review

Season one of Infinite Frontier's Suicide Squad comes to an end with a bang! The Squad faces off against off-brand Thunderbolts (which are an off-brand Suicide Squad anyways) while Flag leads his own team against Waller. Refrigerator Salesman Major Force gets atomized by Black Siren while Ambush Bug & knock-off Deadpool recreate the Spider-Man pointing meme. Waller wins in the end and nabs a dark trinity for her conquest of the forever evil world of Earth-3. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't! Super excited for next month's crossover "War For Earth 3".

A very good ending to the best Suicide Squad run in years. I really like the pacing, something a lot of books don't manage very well these days, Thompson excels at it. Waller truly is stone cold here. I could've done without Ambush Bug but I guess every writer has his fixations. I'm really excited about War on Earth-3, can't wait for it.

There was an abruptness to this issue that didn't sit well with me, but aside from that, I was into it. I don't really like Ambush Bug still, but I'm invested in the plot, so I let some of those moments of unfunniness slide.
