Thor believes Hulk is innocent of earthly accusations so he lies to Iron Man and claims Hulk is dead. As perfect as Ryan Ottley has been for the Hulk book, having Daniel Warren Johnson on a Hulk vs Thor book is also just such a perfect, decadent treat. This is what comics is all about, big action, massive stakes, fun battles and interesting characters. The scope of the art spares no corner of any page. Read Full Review

Hulk #8's big sendoff for the green hero manages to succinctly wrap up pretty much any questions that may have persisted throughout the series while also adding new layers to the dynamic between Hulk, Thor, and the rest of the Avengers. Read Full Review

Hulk #8 was an explosive final chapter to the Hulk vs Thor: Banner of War crossover event that ended exactly how I was hoping it would. For all of Donny Cates and Daniel Warren Johnson great writing this was a true showcase of Martin Coccolo and Matt Wilson work as an art team. The artwork was absolutely stunning and is worth the price of admission just on all the action we got with the different stages in the Hulk vs Thor fight. I would not be surprised if Coccolo and Wilson were the art team of the next big Marvel event. Read Full Review

But Why Tho? - Collier "CJ" Jennings

Hulk #8wraps up the "Banner of War" storyline with some bombastic illustrations and a script that has equal amounts of philosophy and punching. It's been a wild ride, and, from the end of this issue, it looks like the fallout from this fight will continue to affect both characters throughout their titles. Read Full Review

Hulk #8 delivers the epic finale to the Hulk vs. Thor: Banner of War crossover. You get more great action and art from Martin Coccolo, along with solid pacing and character dialogue from Donny Cates. The ending is a little underwhelming but the heroes leave on a better note than when they began. Read Full Review

Hulk #8 (2022), and the Banner of War arc as a whole, seems geared to do little else but set up big Hulk fights with any semblance of the story added as an afterthought. If all you want is to see Hulk smash, you'll love this issue. If you want some meat with your potatoes, look elsewhere. Read Full Review

Great Finale! I'll start saying that I was disappointed by the last issue, it was the weakest of the crossover in my opinion. However, with this one everything is changed. I enjoyed reading and watching at the panels. The battle got fiercesome, with the Hulk loosing an arm. At the beginning of the crossover, we were told that we would know who would be the strongest one there is and, in a way,, we do not. Odin, and the magic found in Mjöllnir were able to end this great fight. In the end , was nice to see how Odin became the main character of the crossover The art, is again great, love the battle scene panels. By the way, last page was weird, can the Titan infect or be transmitted to others? I really look forward to more

I personally didn't love the direction of this arc. It was good, but I liked the first half more than the second. The art makes this ending land, and I often buy for art alone. If you can only buy one part of this arc, buy issue 1.

A little bit of an underwhelming finale to this insane crossover, but this was still an enjoyable read. The battle was pretty cool and it gave Coccolo plenty of opportunity to shine. I do appreciate the mutual respect shown between Hulk and Thor as well, with Thor letting Hulk leave into space while telling the Avengers that he's dead. It will probably come back to bite him in the ass later on, but it's still nice in the moment. The tease on the last page is very interesting as well. Good stuff.

It was ok. We were promised an answer about who is stronger between Thor and Hulk, but despite the watcher's promise at the beginning, the answer remains vague (not that it's a problem, the stronger in this kind of story always depends on who the author chooses). My real problem is with the ending as a whole, everything goes too fast, it would have deserved one more installment.

Martin Coccolo is certainly convinced that this is a Meaningful Ultimate Showdown, and so it's a beautifully-drawn one. But it starts with some more of that overselling I noted at the start of the arc. Uatu assures us we're about to see a definitive answer to the "who would win in a fight" question. The potentially-disappointing draw we get, loaded with extenuating circumstances, is no answer at all. The good news, though, is that this is a pretty meaningful issue on the character-exploration front, with insights into Thor and a chance for Odin to grow. As per annoyingly usual with this crossover, the key beats for one title's characters appear in the other title.

Underwhelming, to say the least. I really was expecting some sort of wild twist - as this IS a Hulk book and this IS a Hulk story after all - that Hulk would beat Thor and take his place as a god among the rest. But that would be a diversion from the overall story Cates may be trying to tell here. I'm still hoping for a longer game here, but overall the art is saving this series so far, and even then some of the action scenes feel muddled. The anticlimactic ending with Odin's literal deus ex machina was a bit much for me. I should be used to old fashioned comic book hucksterism but I have to admit, they got me with this one. What a bait and switch. Now they have my money! Still giving this series a shot since it's only about 8 issues more

honestly this event was pretty underwhelming, the ending totally derailed the event. only reason why this event is even memorable is because of the good/great art. The way one character wins the battle makes me scratch my head and it was honestly not that executed well.

Way too cliche. Way to underwhelming for a 3 month wait. It was a decent action book, and that is about it.

Not a fair fight. Wouldn't a gamma-ray pumped up Thor have the ADDED strength that Banner received when he became Hulk? In other words, Thor's strength PLUS Hulk's? In the last four issues there was virtually no "regular" Thor V. Hulk throwdown. Wild, but weak.

Cates's writing has become far too dependent on developing new powers in new, unearned ways. The World Tree acting as a detox machine, Odin just lifting his son's woes through the power of will or something... Heck, this whole plot hinges on a new manifestation of the Hulk's power's becoming contagious. The result is an extremely shallow plot that temporarily gives the illusion of world building but is inevitably resolved by deus ex machina.
