Batman and Robin: Year One #2 improves on last month's debut issue and shows where this series is headed. It's a combination of nostalgia, timelessness and solid storytelling from the creators. It yields a lot of fun and the excitement one expects from a super-hero comic book. Put this at the top of the list with Action Comics, the two best titles that feel All In! Read Full Review

Honestly, I absolutely adored it. I'm still waiting for a big reveal or wow moment, but until then, I'm more than happy to keep reading. Another really solid issue and I cannot wait to see the next one. The noir edition of the first issue released as well, which is well worth seeing if you love Samnee's art as much as I do. This is quickly one of DC's best books right now, and Waid and artist Chris Samnee aren't really doing anything against the grain to make it work. It's just good old-fashioned quality comic book writing. The characterization is on point, the surprises and details are fun and it feels like vintage Batman comics. Bring on issue #3! Overall, Batman and Robin: Year One #2 is a solid continuation of the series. The dynamic between the two characters is well-developed, and the introduction of the General adds a new dimension to the story. While the pacing could be tighter, the issue still delivers a satisfying reading experience. Read Full Review

This is a better trip down memory lane! Updating the formative years of the Dynamic Duo is an excellent time within this series. It is such entertainment to see how these two are so different and how they come together. Waid and Samnee give great conflict to our heroes and also find great moments to showcase their growth and respect for each other, which also grows the danger they will eventually face; a fun, worthwhile installment in what is shaping up to be another classic Year One in DC's history. Utterly superb. The same quality as World's Finest but ever better. Batman and Robin adopting the father and son approach to their relationship is so beautifully done. Waid just gets these characters. Every little thing feels deliberate and consequential. Along with Absolute Batman, this is the best new Batman series. Gabe Hernandez is a ball bag.

Just spectacular!!! The way Waid writes the father-and-son relationship is just so well done. Moments like when Batman is worried about Dick and then trying to downplay it are so heartwarming and nice to read. This book has a lot of heart in it. And then you have the story, filled with mystery and excitement with a new villain who is genuinely interesting is just the cherry on top. All of this is brought to us by the incredible Chris Samnee who nails the Noir and moody feel of the story. What can I ask for more? Waid and Samnee were at the top of my list for who I want to write a Batman run and so far they are knocking it out of the park!

Old-fashioned superhero fun, perfectly executed. With a better cliffhanger, this would be a 10.

honestly my favorite interpretation of Batman and Robin's relationship. I like it more than World's Finest even because its such a nice dynamic seeing how Bruce has to reign in a hyperactive Dick Grayson, but its also nice seeing Dick Grayson making Bruce relax. The art really works for this type of setting

Very well written and the art was fine. I'm very much enjoying this display of the early relationship and "getting comfortable with each other" stage. The side story of CPS being dubious of Bruce Wayne and his intentions with this random child, the scenes with the social workers and Bruce are enjoyable because we understand both sides. We know Bruce Wayne has good intentions and will be a good father figure, but the CPS's concerns from their vantage point are also very valid. Robin being a bratty kid with the skills to mostly back up his bravado is also believable. Overall a very enjoyable issue of what looks to be a great series.

(Cover Date: January, 2025) **SPOILERS** Summary: A worker from Child Protective Services interviews Bruce about his adoption of Dick. Two-Face meets with the General & offers to be his second-in-command. The General's (?) plant torches Maroni henchmen who are on the way to an arson job on a Falcone meth lab.
