This was a great story set in the middle of an event that I am not reading. I should not, by all reasoning, love this arc as much as I did. However, great writing, wonderful art, and deep cut references made me fall in love with this story and this team. I really hope to see more of this team in the near future. Read Full Review

MacKay has developed one of the most enjoyable crossovers weve had in quite some time, and the emergency team the Cap got together to battle Baron Blood, and the rest of his vampire soldiers was a breath of fresh air. MacKays solid script, character development, mixed in with Villas dynamic, and kinetic art has given us a run thats made the Avengers book a must read. I cant wait to see whats coming next. Villa delivers some awesome art throughout the issue. There is a frenetic energy to the story and the art captures it beautifully with detailed action and characters. Read Full Review

Avengers #16 might end on a truncated note, but there's the promise of more. Next issue sees Storm joining the team, and Cap's planning to assemble even more Avengers in the appropriately titled Avengers Assemble title later this year. This arc has been a reminder of everything I love about the Avengers, and I hope it continues for as long as MacKay is able. Read Full Review

This wasn't a crucial "Blood Hunt" series, but for monthly readers of Avengers, it served its purpose. Read Full Review

Plot This comic serves as support for the Blood Hunt event, where the Avengers fell under the attack of the Blood Coven and Captain Marvel asks Captain America to assemble a new team that defends the planet from the attack of Vampires. Steve Rogers raises the Helicarrier above the energy cloud of the dark dimension, so the sun is seen in all its splendor and allows Hercules, Kate Bihop/Hawkeye, Quicksilver and Hazmat to more easily eliminate the vampires. Baron Blood is not affected by sunlight so he confronts Captain America with all his strength, but he fails to defeat him and flies away, but is possibly in Kate Bishop's sights. Exciting closing of this comic in support of the event that makes it clear that this Avengers lineup more

This turned out really good. The art can be half-baked some of the time. But McKay showed deep knowledge and understanding of the continuity and managed to give space to every character and appreciate them for what they are, even when they are half-antagonistic to each other. It doubles down on what I liked what the last issue. This team has a lot of character and here that is shown throughout. It's a warm feeling reading it and seeing those guys getting along with each other and learning from the past, while also based on it, creating new relationships.

A fun conclusion to a fun arc overall. I think MacKay, especially, writes a good Hercules and I'd really like to see more of him whether it's in this series or somewhere else. I'm not currently caught up on Al Ewing's current Immortal Thor run, but I would imagine he would nail Hercules as well.

Average story but some fun banter. Really liked having Hawkeye and Hazmat on the team where the cookie cutter team of the main story just hasn't been exciting.
