Can we use this comment as a petition to change this website back to the way it was? This new design is beyond atrocious. The mobile version is especially difficult to navigate (and there's no search bar at the top). There also seems to be a problem with the average rating for series' where it's not calculating the actual average for all issues. For example, Gotham Central (which I'm currently reading) previously had an average user rating of 9.1 for the whole series, but it has since dropped down to a 6.9 for no discernible reason. And that series is not the only one affected. I don't know what happened, but this update is garbage, and that's not just a knee-jerk reaction to change. It legitimately sucks. Anyway, sign this comment if you agree. Or maybe you disagree, in which case...I'm happy you're happy.

I haven't actually read this yet, but I noticed the average user scores shot up all of a sudden, and then I noticed a strange number of 10 out of 10 ratings from several accounts who have only reviewed this issue and nothing else, created the same day they reviewed it. Hmm... hard to get an accurate idea of whether it's actually good or not with these types of shenanigans going on.

This is so, so bad...just...terrible. No redeeming qualities whatsoever.

This was hot garbage. There was honestly so much wrong with this story it would take way too long to list it all. The only reason this story gets a half point is because the art wasn't completely horrendous. The writing was atrocious, when the story wasn't bland it was just plain ridiculous, and the art was lazy and just plain not good enough, which is disappointing because I've loved some of Camuncoli's other work, especially Green Valley. There's more I could say, but I wasted enough time reading this that I don't want to waste any more reviewing it.

Art is the only positive.

That's it. This honestly hurts...I love Moon Knight. He's my favourite Marvel character besides Daredevi, so to read this hot garbage has been truly painful. I've tried to be generous with my ratings, but I can't do it anymore. I have to own up to how much this sucks. Besides the art, which is STILL terrible, the writing has just gotten utterly and completely lazy. You're gonna tell me Moon Knight is standing in the middle of the entire Thunderbolts crew and a dozen S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, and he somehow manages to sneak down a manhole unseen? Give me an actual break. The Benson and Texiera run on Moon Knight is easily the worst in the character's history, which is truly sad cause I was loving the Huston and Finch arcs.

One of the dumbest and most unnecessary annuals I've read in recent memory. I knew it was gonna be a doozy from the very first page and second panel when Danny said: "The resources absurd wealth provides are AS MUCH a part of what makes me the Iron Fist as ANYTHING ELSE" (Emphasis mine). I mean....are you kidding me...? So, according to Fraction and Brubaker, Danny being loaded is an EQUALLY essential part of his being the Iron Fist as, oh I don't know...having defeated a literal dragon and absorbed its power to gain an actual mother effing super powered fist?!?!? Not to mention his training...his fighting skills...his ability to focus his chi... Oh yeah. That's all a part of it too, but apparently his inherited wealth is just as important a reason that he's the Iron Fist. Listen...I'm no expert on the character, and I'm not even that huge of a fan of him, but this feels like straight up Iron Fist blasphemy. If these writers said something similar about a character I actually gave a rip about, like Daredevil or the Silver Surfer...then I'd be clawing at the drapes. But even so... as casual a fan of IF as I am... even I know that this is so collosally idiotic it defies every shred of logic and reason in this world. I can cover the rest of the issue in one sentence. It was boring, unnecessary, and poorly drawn. There. Oh, and as a sidenote, I found it hilariously stupid that the artist depicted the Hydra assassin's binocular vision as having the Hydra logo pasted over the screen like an unfaded watermark as well as their "Cut off one head and two shall grow in its place!!!" tagline gliding across the top and bottom of the screen like a score update ticker on the sports channel. I truly hope this was meant to be funny and intentionally lame, cause if not...if somebody actually thought that would be cool if Hydra had binoculars like that...then I don't want to live on the same planet as that person anymore.

Honestly... I've absolutely loved X of Swords so far. But this... this was bad. It's not just that it was weird... it was just, not good at all. The tone didn't match any of what we've seen so far. The kickoff of the tournament was incredibly anticlimactic. Why was Jubilee even there? And a wedding instead of a sword fight? What the f. Only saving grace is Noto's art.

What in the ever-loving fluck did I just read...? This issue was messier than Kevin Malone's spilled chili.

Reading this, I felt insulted on behalf of women everywhere and anyone who enjoys good stories. Laura saying "It's beer-o'clock sluts!" honestly made me want to throw up. It's possibly the most out-of-character moment I've ever read in comics, and it perfectly encapsulated this mini-series. The only slight positive in this whole book was that the art wasn't bad. The story? Nonsensical. The writing? Cringe-inducing. The characterization? Non-existant. Do yourself a favour and avoid this at all costs.

Oof...this was not good. The art ranged from great (Dragotta and Allred) to really, really bad (whoever did the Western story). This was a completely unnecessary and overly long flashback issue that failed to justify its existence. I had enjoyed the last issue of the main series, but this (as well as the issue where Danny leaves Kun-Lun to study Orson Randall's life) just completely derail the story's momentum and take me out of the story. I would probably be enjoying this run way more if we didn't have this unnecessary one-shots inserted every few issues.

Bad. Just...just plain bad.

This finale really didn't land for me. The pace was WAY too quick, the dialogue was absolutely atrocious, and certain plot points just made no sense. Not to mention the several loose ends that were left. This comic started out strong, but it became clear that all it really had to offer was over-the-top violence and a vaguely promising mystery, although that violence grew stale after a while and the mystery turned out to be mostly incoherent and devoid of any real substance. The characters were really difficult to feel anything for, and so the finale had virtually no emotional depth for me. Entertaining at times and it had more potential than it delivered on, but ultimately it was a disappointing read for me.

Bullseye just gave up and started crying? Pretty stupid resolution if you ask me. And Black Widow being used as a damsel in distress is also really dumb. This is one comic that doesn't hold up today. Only saving grace is Miller's art.

This was pretty trash. Poorly written, poorly illustrated...just all around bad. 4 is probably generous.

What the actual hell just happened...that issue was moving at 1000mph, and not in a good way. Way too much too quickly and not nearly enough justification for any of it happening. Art still sucks too.

This was pretty trash. Stupid resolution to a bland, poorly written story. Art was meh the whole way through. Also, why couldn't Sabretooth have taken the coil out himself right after it was put in? If all it took was someone clawing it out, couldn't he have done it like...immediately?

Yeah, this last issue confirms it. They said the quiet part out loud. This was never really a Suicide Squad story, it was always only ever a "Revolutionaries" story. None of those characters were interesting enough to justify a series focused solely on them, so they threw in a couple of established Suicide Squad members and made them absolutely useless so they could sell a few copies of this book. King Shark died immediately, Deadshot complained a bunch and THEN died, and Harley stayed alive only to make one or two unfunny jokes each issue and do literally nothing else, but otherwise this book had nothing to do with the Suicide Squad. It didn't even have Amanda Waller past the first issue and the squad members even took out their implanted bombs early on. Uninteresting characters with zero depth, a boring story that couldn't decide what it wanted to be, and a head-scratching ending that left me wishing I'd never bought this book. I mean...you're really gonna have a character you killed off several issues ago miraculously get resurrected by a random god we've never seen before and then save the day super easily with barely an inconvenience? The art was good throughout, so at least it was a dumpster fire that was nice to look at for the most part.

This issue was dogwater. The writing, the art, all of it.

Kinda garbage. The jokes were unfunny, the characters continue to be bland with zero team chemistry, and the story was so uninteresting it hurts. Glad to be done. It probably doesn't help that I read this as part of the Gwenpool omnibus, and not only is Gwen written differently here, but she's probably the team member who gets the least amount of spotlight throughout the series. So, a disappointment on a number of fronts.

I'm getting really tired of this "Hey, cut it out or we're gonna tell your parents!" crap. Can this story offer anything more than just a drawn out angst-filled superhero soap opera about a group of particularly unlikable teens? Also, in a group of characters who range from completely forgettable to painfully annoying, Eli is in a league of his own. Kid is just...the worst.

This was extremely poorly executed. Foxe didn't do anything to make me give a solitary crap about any one of these characters, and the writing was just awful. This was a serious disappointment cause I actually really enjoyed Foxe's Dark X-Men mini. But while there he actually gave the characters some semblance of depth and personality, this group was collectively as appealing and interesting as a toenail. I'm glad this is over. The Krakoan era is probably my favourite X-Men era ever, but tripe like this does serve as a reminder that it's a mixed bag and that one would be best served by sticking to the more acclaimed series' and leaving the rest on the cutting room floor.

I feel bad rating a book that most people seemed to really enjoy so low, but for me personally the writing was just really, really bland...I found it so difficult to care about anything that was happening by the end. The dialogue felt stiff and unrealistic, the story was muddled and the pacing was off, and the characters had no depth to them; not even Hal. The only bright spot in this book was the art, which was very good. I was really disappointed in this. I wanted to enjoy it, but I just couldn't.

Kate seriously blamed Cap and the other Avengers for the death of Teddy's Mom? Maybe it was the Young Avengers' stubborn refusal to listen to good advice that got her killed...just a thought. Jeez...I feel so bad that Jim Cheung's fantastic artistic ability was wasted on this terrible comic. It truly is the only silver lining here. There aren't very many books that I dislike this strongly. I have the Avengers: Children's Crusade sequel to this run, but I honestly don't think I'm going to be able to bring myself to read it.

This wasn't good. Basically just a history of the thieves guild, but it makes no sense cause Odessa is telling it to the Black Fox who literally knows all about it already. Helpful for the reader, sure. But do it in a way that actually makes sense in the context of the story. Felicia was barely in this, and I don't find Odessa to be a compelling character whatsoever. Not to mention the art was at an all-time bad in this issue, or maybe it just seems way worse after getting some decent art in the previous one. Either way, weakest issue so far.

Goes out with a fizzle. Definitely Remender's weakest work. Jet Black flipped back to the dark side as easily as she flipped to the light side, the deaths of Ian and Sharon are undone, and Zola gets away without having really done anything. Literally the only thing that this series can really be said to have accomplished is make Captain America old.

Man...two polar opposite ends of the spectrum here. Phenomenally gorgeous art, and outrageously terrible writing. What a boring slog of a read... Shadowland wasn't that good of an event, but it was way more interesting than the lead up to it. Poor Marco Checchetto did his best to elevate this comic, and he produced some absolutely stunning artwork. Unfortunately, it couldn't save what was otherwise a painfully dull conclusion to a boring arc.

A rushed ending that didn't deliver on the promising start. I can't help but be disappointed. The villains were disposed of far too quickly and far too easily. The Green Man was a total fake-out bad guy and ended up being completely inconsequential to the story. Why did the aliens even need him at all? It seems like all of the manipulation and assassination they did to get the kingdoms to fight each other could have been done without the help of the Green Man. Pointless. And speaking of pointless...Alfred's death! What purpose did that serve? And Waller just gets away with everything? The real mastermind behind the entire plot and she doesn't even face justice? So unsatisfying. I wish I could give this issue a higher score cause I really did enjoy this series for the most part, but this ending was a huge letdown. It felt like Tom Taylor needed at least 6 more issues to tie up the plot threads neatly, but ran out of time and gave us a hurried mess of a finish.

This wasn't great. Art was good, writing was pretty bad. A fairly soulless retelling of the FF's origins that failed to justify its existence. Unlike the X-Men: Season One story, which felt fresh and modern while also reading like a tribute to those earliest comics, this felt bland and uninspired, failing at both revitalizing AND honoring the FF's origins.

It's been a gripe of mine before, and it's still a gripe of mine now. These one-shots are completely unnecessary and add nothing to the ongoing plot of this run. I get that the writers are trying to deepen the lore and get their readers to understand the weight and significance of carrying the Iron Fist mantle, which I suppose they hope will...I don't know...give people a greater sense of awe and an appreciation for the character's history? Who knows. But whatever their goal was, I don't think they're accomplishing it. Inserting this needless one-shot RIGHT BEFORE the final issue of Fraction and Brubaker's stint in this run gives me the same feeling as when the GPS voice interrupts the song I was listening to right when it gets to the chorus. It massively impacts my enjoyment of this comic and completely details any momentum and flow that was building. I don't understand. I hate that I'm having such a hard time enjoying this book, cause it was one I'd heard such good things about and was really looking forward to. But, sadly, issues like this have just sucked the life out of it for me. The main story itself left some things to be desired as well, but I'm certain I would've been more invested were it not for these constant detours into Iron Fist history (Iron Fistory?) and Orson Randall's exploits.

I couldn't care less about Riri Williams as a character, and this issue was just all talking, but not the interesting kind that writers like Jonathan Hickman can pull off. Just boring conversations that didn't really give us any answers or plot development. I'd take more points off if it weren't for Alex Maleev's consistently great art.

The writing here is a significant step down from Charlie Huston's, and the art isn't great either. Hoping both improve, but not a very promising start to Benson's run. Also, I couldn't care less about Frenchie and his boyfriend at this point. I really hope there's a point to continuing to keep them around, cause so far it just seems like their only purpose is to be the token gay characters who are just kinda there but add nothing of substance to the story.

This...wasn't very good unfortunately. Which is a shame because I typically LOVE Kieron Gillen's work.

This was really, really badly written. The dialogue is just atrocious, and the story has gotten ridiculous. I'm shocked...I expected to like this. A lot of people seemed to enjoy Lavalle's work on Sabretooth, but the more I read the more disappointed I am.

Listen...I'm not the kind of guy who can't let it slide when something silly, inconsistent, or even downright illogical happens in a comic, as long as it doesn't happen too often and the story/art are good enough to make up for it. Unfortunately, the silly, inconsistent, and illogical things in this series are starting to pile up, and the story isn't good enough to allow for me to continue to let it slide. The art is good, but that's just not enough. My problems with this issue are too many for me to want to get into all of them, so I'll just summarize by saying that this felt rushed, disjointed, and directionless, and it had a couple genuinely stupid moments. This run is on a disappointing trajectory as I was enjoying it somewhat for the first half. I find myself quite unable to enjoy it anymore.

More of the same. Williams doesn't do a great job of giving these characters unique voices; they all talk and act exactly the same, like absolute bimbos.

While it's nice to have Jim Cheung back on art, not even he can save this painfully boring story or make Heinberg's lackluster writing any more tolerable.

Only real upside here is the art, which is spectacular. Story sucks, writing is super mediocre.

I'm not really sure what's happened to this run...Soule was KILLING it for the first 5-6 arcs, and now...an army of flying warrior catholics? What happened to the grounded story with crisp dialogue and sharp writing? Soule seemed like he had a plan, a vision, and now it seems like he's just making stuff up as he goes. He introduced one of the coolest ideas in Daredevil's recent history with the whole legal fight to have vigilantes be able to testify in court, and what came of that? Nothing. Which is SO disappointing cause it had so much potential for the story going forward. I really hope Soule gets back on track, cause he was off the rails with this issue. Art is great, hence the "high" score.

One of God's first lessons for the world was fear? Fear of losing His love? Man it grinds my gears to no end when Daredevil writers show that they have no depth of understanding about biblical matters. Chip's theology sucks. Other than that, art was decent, it was nice to see the Stromwyns finally get theirs, even if it came after a bit of a weirdly extreme tactic from Matt. Also, Cole and Matt have been far too pessimistic for my taste throughout this run. It makes me miss Waid and Soule's Daredevil runs. Those writers actually wrote a Daredevil who believed he could make a difference no matter how hopeless it seemed or how corrupt the system was. You stare into the face of injustice and you keep fighting it back, even if it seems like it's winning the day. Cole and Matt just come across like they're throwing in the towel. This is not inspiring by any stretch.

Bland characters, confusing writing even for a fairly straightforward story, and mediocre art all make this comic wholly forgettable.

Uninspired. Too wordy, too much science mumbo-jumbo, unfunny jokes, and not nearly enough happening other than a long chase scene.

Misleading cover. There was nothing remarkable at all about this issue. Art was pretty trash, script pretty dull.

Unfortunately this series just keeps on getting more and more stale and uninspired. The characters have grown completely one-dimensional and are near impossible to care about. Even the villains' motivations and actions make no sense. The story itself has gone nowhere as the whole final conflict that's been brewing since the 2nd arc was just resolved in less than 20 pages. It's a disappointing penultimate issue considering the first 8-10 issues were good, light-hearted fun, so the trajectory does not give me high hopes for a satisfying conclusion.

I don't know man...it's all just explosions and quippy jokes about female body parts. I'm not really seeing the appeal. I also find it funny how a lot of feminists will complain about men objectifying women, but then some of those same feminists will turn around and write issues like this where a character flashes her tig ol' bitties for hundreds of cheering vampires.

This series seems directionless at this point. I get that it might've been cancelled too soon, but the whole story seemed to shift after the stuff with the Black Fox. Now it seems like the story doesn't know what it wants to be.

This story sorta went off the rails.

I'm having a really hard time caring about any of the characters here. I love Rick Remender...he's one of my favourite writers, but this is reeeally not up to his usual standards. I wonder if books like this were why he stopped working for Marvel.

I love Rick Remender. He's one of my favourite writers of all time. However, this is probably the weakest thing I've ever read by him. The villains are boring and all they do is monologue LITERALLY all issue long. For multiple issues. It's exhausting to read. I feel like nothing has really happened in the last 4-6 issues. It's all been the same stuff, just really drawn out villain monologuing while Cap punches them. It's just plain bland, it lacks the emotion and smart pacing of Remender's other works. On the plus side, Klein's art has been good.

This wasn't great...the story felt really muddled, the writing wasn't very sharp, and the changing artwork was jarring.

Kind of a silly resolution. And did they really think Sue's apology to Victor would go any other way?

Some good art, and a powerful moment at the end when they were talking about the heroes who had lost girlfriends, but otherwise reading this was like eating a big old nothingburger.

A pretty predictable and not all that memorable ending. Mackay's run on Black Cat should've ended with the giant sized finale to the previous run. This mini didn't do enough to justify its existence in my humble opinion.

A hopeful but flawed ending. Hard not to be disappointed with how this series went downhill. I enjoyed the first half, but it just fizzled at the end.

Some funny moments. I liked that Clint was outed when the real Wonder Man appeared on live TV; it's the kind of ridiculous bad luck scenario he would find himself in. I also enjoyed the expressions of Gwen, Quentin and Ramone when they found out about the vampires. That being said, this issue still struggled with the same stuff this whole series has struggled with. There is no depth to any of these characters whatsoever. None of them are growing (except maybe Quentin the tiniest bit), and there's no chemistry at all between any of them, even between Kate and Johnny who are supposed to be a couple. And I literally could not care less about Ramone... her whole "I'm a black woman surfer champ who runs her own small business so I'm basically a superhero" could not have made me roll my eyes harder. Also...when did she get skinny? Wasn't she fairly heavyset when she was introduced? What, the writer/artist didn't think a plump girl in magical Wakandan armor would look good?

It's too bad the writing kinda sucks, cause the art is outstanding.

Well...the one thing this comic had going for it was Jim Cheung's art, and now it doesn't even have that. I'm really trying to care about these characters, but teenagers are difficult to care about in the first place without them being written poorly.

I don't know man...I thought this ending was a little anti-climactic. It felt too rushed, and there were loose ends that weren't properly tied up. I also had a problem with the fact that Mila reacted to seeing Effie, but not Andy. Like...as far as she knew, Andy was dead too, but she only hugs her Mom? Seems weird. Nguyen's art was also at its weakest in this final issue unfortunately...it seemed hastily drawn and a lot rougher, less detailed. Bit of a disappointing end to the whole Descender saga if this is in fact the end. I had higher hopes for it. It was enjoyable, but it didn't wow me.

I love the Court of Owls so I was disappointed by this mediocre issue.

This was actually super disappointing... I LOVED last issue, but this one just did not have the same level of tension, suspense, and terror. Part of that was due to too many inappropriately-timed jokes at moments that should have been serious. Also, horny Constantine's literally NON-STOP thirsting over Zatanna grew extremely old extremely quickly. On top of these things, the art seemed to take a step down from the previous two issues. It appeared more rushed and less detailed. And story-wise, it didn't feel like the plot advanced at all. Bruce turned into a werewolf, fought another werewolf, then turned back into a human. The end. I'm significantly disappointed with the drop off in this issue. Hopefully the finale can save this mini from mediocrity. Oh, and another small thing...as great as Subic's art has been, does he have to sign his name on basically every other page...? It's gotten distracting.

Wanted to like this more, but it just didn't really do it for me.

This earned extra points for the great last two pages, but otherwise it was pretty bad...the writing was really lackluster and Romita Jr.'s art is just sloppy looking.

I don't think this really had anything to do with Halloween.

Not gonna lie, I'm getting rather tired of this Sons of the Serpent storyline and the white supremacist super villain group in general. Their motives are one-dimensional, their power and influence is unrealistically far-reaching, and the story itself is growing far too convoluted and outlandish. So far this is a pretty lackluster follow-up to the long Bullseye setup.

I'm really not sure what to make of this issue... I thought the art was a step up from the last one, and there were some cool moments, but overall it felt disjointed and scattered. Elektra's internal monologue throughout the fights was a little hokey (I'm not a big fan of characters narrating what they're doing or what they need to do next while they're doing it), Spidey chewing out that cop seemed both out of character and uncalled for, and that was perhaps the weirdest timed marriage proposal I've ever read. Fisk gets stabbed, Mary comes out of nowhere and kills the Bullseye clone, Fisk saves Mary from falling to her death, and then he just...proposes? I don't know. It just felt forced and out of place. Definitely the weakest issue of the run so far.

This definitely isn't up to the same quality as Soule's main Daredevil run. The story is just boring...art is decent though.

Didn't really do anything for me. I couldn't care less about Luke Cage's mayorhood, which is mainly what this was about.

Man, this was one muddled mess of a comic. A couple fun moments, but overall it was scattered, disjointed, and incoherent. Gerry Duggan was the absolute wrong person to carry Hickman's X-Men torch... They should've just handed the whole thing over to Al Ewing and Kieron Gillen. Those two wrote easily the best two series' of the post-Hickman Krakoan era. I'm very glad Gillen is writing Rise to counterbalance Duggan's incompetence, but that just makes Duggan's shortcomings all the more obvious. Would've loved to have seen what Ewing and Gillen could have cooked up together. Also, I really don't buy that Dr. Gregor would suddenly have a change of heart and start helping the mutants after everything she's done and how they've already established her character. It gives General Hux "I am the spy!" vibes.

Mephisto's painfully long monologue almost took me out. He did not sound like himself at all, but I guess that's Bendis dialogue for ya. And was he talking to me...? Didn't realize he was a 4th wall breaker. So that's fun. This series was pretty underwhelming. I guess I'm glad I read it, but I likely won't be revisiting it in the future.

I think Mark forgave Allen way too quickly and way too easily, especially after their fight last issue. I mean...the guy got Mark's brother killed while using Mark, Eve, and their young daughter as bait to draw out the single most powerful person in the universe, and he wants to claim that he didn't think anyone would get hurt? BS. Honestly, f#@k Allen. I liked him, but I've lost virtually all respect for him now.

Better, but not by much. The art still kinda sucks. It's hard to distinguish between some characters, and it doesn't help that Benson's script seems a bit all over the place at times, jumping to a different scene almosy every panel on some pages.

I want to like this, I really do...but the art is shite, the story is too jumpy, and we're barely getting any actual Moon Knight. Just his friends (who all hate him) and the people looking for him.

Well, it wasn't horrible, it just wasn't great. It may not even have been good. It just...was. I don't really understand the purpose of this entire arc. Benson never really justified Moon Knight's or the Punisher's presence in Mexico. What was the point of the Toltec? It was teased for a few issues and then...no big showdown? Just some interesting creative choices. The art was a bit better here than last issue at least. Disappointed that Benson didn't manage to stick the landing after a fantastic third issue of this arc, but I suppose I shouldn't really be all that surprised considering the rest of his run was mostly either incoherent or just plain boring.

Punisher really said "Kung-fu this".... Well okay then.

I feel like the writing has been getting gradually worse and the story has been getting gradually less interesting...

It's fine. It's all just...fine.

Some brief thoughts (spoilers below): -For starters, the pacing felt off. Too quick at the start. -Deadly Six has a somewhat cool ability in theory, but it would be nice to see him use something other than Sloth and Greed. I know he said it would be weird to weaponize lust, and...fair point. But there are 4 more sins you could use, but we've only seen the same two used so far. -I have no idea which one is Thylacine and which one is Chaos Kitten, and that's when I can actually remember their names, which I usually can't. Those two are definitely the most forgettable in this series. I don't even remember their powers, if they have any. This is the problem with introducing a bunch of brand new characters...if you don't have time to develop them or let readers get to know them, then all they're gonna do is get in the way and severely limit the number of fucks I could give. -The twist was very twisty and all, but what on God's green earth are we doing adding Black Mask to the mix as a major player in this story 2 issues from its conclusion? -Also, since when can Black Mask change his appearance like that? I admittedly don't know much about him so maybe that's just a thing he can do? I dunno. I thought he was just a crime boss or some such, but what do I know? -Deadshot was completely and utterly wasted in this run. He did virtually nothing all series, just kinda stands around and complains, and then he dies. He was the most interesting character in this story who had the most potential for both emotional depth and cool action sequences, and Taylor used him for none of that. What a shame.

This book really fell off after Hickman and Ribic handed the reins to Humphries and whoever the hell drew these last few issues. An anticlimactic end to what was once an epic series. The Maker was outsmarted and defeated relatively easily after being an unstoppable force who was always 10 steps ahead every other time. Too bad Hickman couldn't have carried this run to a satisfying resolution.

Good thing Jerome Opeña is still drawing this, cause the writing on issue was pretty bad...

I loved Clint impersonating Wonder Man. I wanted more of that.

This issue was FAR too wordy and a bit too convoluted. Could've been way less confusing than it was. Thankfully the art was a bit better though.

Story was okay, writing was decent, art was great. I'm a big fan Spurrier's but this wasn't his best. His script seemed a bit scattered, and the characters weren't very likeable.

Some of these stories just didn't go anywhere or have any meaning behind them. Or maybe they did and I just missed it, which is entirely possible, but I particularly disliked Iannucci's story, Rowell's story, and Anderson's story. Just found them boring and pointless. Favourite was easily Hickman's, and Falcone's and Slott's were enjoyable as well. Perhaps worth a read if you're a big Spidey fan, but in my opinion the character deserved better from this anthology tribute.

I don't think I get it...

This wasn't a great conclusion. Art wasn't up to Jim Cheung's usual standard, the story was messy, and the dialogue wasn't great. Overall, I didn't mind this event, but it definitely left me wanting.

This wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I actually was really enjoying both the art and the writing for the first two thirds, but both seemed to fall off a bit towards the end. There were a few things that bugged me: first, Harvey Dent's Dad was supposed to be 88, but the way Fernandez drew him made him look like he was in his fifties. I know this isn't really a big deal in the grand scheme, but I couldn't help but be bothered by it. Second, Batman's plan for dealing with the balloons filled with toxic gas was to throw a batarang at the glass ceiling directly above all of said balloons? I mean...are you kidding Tamaki? That might have been the thing that took me out of this book the most. Thirdly, I didn't really get the "one bad day" vibes from this one. As a collection of stories that are supposed to be in the same vein as The Killing Joke, this one just didn't seem to fit. Tom King did such a good job with the Riddler story, crafting a brilliant homage to Alan Moore's classic work, but this just seemed like a generic, standalone Two-Face story that wasn't inspired by anything. Overall, I still somewhat enjoyed this story and found it mildly entertaining, but it was certainly not without its problems.

Not really sold on this villain or his motivations, and the art is just really bland in my opinion. Doesn't work well for all the action sequences, and there are a lot of action sequences.

So Nick Fury was just waiting in a storage container for Black Cat to come and rob it...?

This was a pretty boring issue. I'm starting to worry this story doesn't really have a forward-moving plot. All we're getting is backstory and questions about the Berserker, but so far no real answers. And the violence is great for shock value, but when it's used so much like in this story, it starts to lose its power. Especially when the main character is invincible. We need some other threat or conflict to give the story some actual stakes. So far, the worst thing that might happen to B is that he might continue to live forever. Doesn't really give the story much suspense or sense of tension.

I thought Jet changed sides a little too easily. I know we've seen her doubting her side, but she flipped just a little too quickly.

Honestly, I was going to rate this issue MUCH lower until that shocking ending. I love Remender as a writer, but this might be the weakest thing I've read by him so far. Hoping it's just this Dimension Z arc and that it gets better after this. Romita Jr.'s subpar art doesn't help.

More good art, more mediocre writing, more overt Catwoman sexualization. This seems to be about all this series has to offer so far.

Quick thoughts: - I wish the White aliens had more interesting motives than simply wanting to conquer and enslave the humans. It makes for rather boring, 1-dimensional villains. - I kinda miss the days when Harley Quinn wasn't the voice of reason. I know her character has experienced significant growth over the years, in a healthy way that I should be happy for her, but she's come so far from who she was that she's barely recognizable anymore. - Dialogue isn't Tom Taylor's strong suit. - I love a good twist as much as the next guy, but I feel like this story almost has too many twists. Amanda Waller conspiring against the kingdom is perfectly in character for her, but the revelation that she's working with the aliens coming in the penultimate issue doesn't leave a whole lot of time for resolution. - Bruce telling Oliver "You murdered my father, but you're not a murder" is dumb. I get what he's saying...but murdering someone literally makes you a murderer. Just like r@ping someone makes you a r@pist and stealing makes you a thief. People can change and be redeemed and they don't have to be defined by their sins, but Oliver murdered the king, and I just feel like his "redemption arc" was far too quick and easy. Manipulated or not, I don't think he did nearly enough to earn his forgiveness and freedom. Yes, we know that Oliver is a good guy based on the Green Arrow character, but in this Elseworlds tale, nobody knows that. - As many gripes as I've just listed, I'm not not enjoying this series. Putting DC characters into a medieval story is my jam. It's not being executed as well as I'd like, but I'm still finding it thoroughly entertaining for the most part. - The art in this series has been great. The covers are particularly gorgeous thanks to the otherwordly talent of Dan Mora.

I don't know man...this wasn't overly compelling. Art was good though.

This issue was a bit of a disappointment as the penultimate chapter in an otherwise captivating series. For starters, yes...the gender identity stuff was pretty on the nose. I can handle a bit of it cause that's just the world we live in so I've come to expect certain writers (Gillen especially) infusing that kind of thing into their stories, but this was a bit too much for me. Using the wardrobe from Narnia as a metaphor for "coming out of the closet" goes against pretty much everything C.S. Lewis stood for and is honestly kind of insulting. I might've rated this issue lower, but Stephanie Hans killed it with the art (again) and this series has been stellar enough overall to warrant a generous pass on a solitary instance of disappointing dialogue and narrative choices. Here's hoping that Gillen and Hans bounce back and stick the landing with the finale.

I want to like this more, but the pacing is insane and the story seems so scattered as a result. We stayed in the bar for like the first four issues, and now we jump forward over 70 years in a single issue?

The narration in this issue and the last really just isn't working at all.

I don't really have much to say. This was underwhelming. I hate to say it, but it was. I don't like the whole time travel and multiverse direction this series took. It seemed like a grounded, small town horror story at first, and I was really, really vibing with it. Unfortunately, it sorta went off the rails, got pretty convoluted, and never really capitalized on the potential of its characters. Glad I read it, enjoyed a lot of it, but can't help but be disappointed by the ending, which includes basically the whole last arc. Everything after the Barn getting blown up was mediocre.

This wasn't quite as good as I had hoped it would be. It wasn't bad by any stretch, it was just...okay. The art was the best part of this book; it was stunning. The writing however was pretty stale in my opinion, and like other reviewers, I found the pacing a bit off. Things moved a little too quickly at times, and we'd often jump around with little to no buildup or warning. It was a serviceable but somewhat uninspired GL origin story.

*Groan* So you're telling me that it was just Mephisto the entire time...?

This had the potential to be really good, but it wasn't executed well enough. Art was okay.

Art is significantly better, story is somewhat interesting but I'm not convinced it's a very good Moon Knight story yet. Benson still has a bad habit of jumping around without warning and no real indication of where we are. It'd be nice if we had location and time markers in the first panel after a jump like many writers include. That would make things a lot easier to follow.

The alternate universe dreams were a little too long and a little too confusing, especially Monica's. It not working on Tabitha because she "doesn't have a brain" was kinda funny, I'll admit, but it doesn't change the fact that this was a pretty pointless issue that didn't really advance the plot at all.

This one was a step down. The dialogue and humour weren't as good, and the story wasn't as interesting. Some mindless action that made for a quick read, but nothing really of substance.

A little disappointed with this one. Just mindless action and that's about it. When about 50% of the panels are Elsa beating robot samurais with a shovel, it gets kinda stale kinda quick. Some of the jokes are funny, and a little bit of mindless action can be enjoyable, but I'd also like to see the plot advance a little bit.

This was...difficult to understand.

I don't know man...I'm just not really feeling this. For whatever reason, LaValle seems to be writing Sabretooth almost completely differently than he wrote him in the first series. He doesn't act or talk like I would've expected him to. The pacing of the story seems off too...some things happening far too quickly, jumping around unexpectedly...it just seems a bit sloppy.

The dialogue seems like it's getting rougher as the story goes on, and a few characters made some really rather dumb choices in this one. This comic is a fun and light read, but it also needs a little more depth and realism. I know that saying a series about a zero-gravity world needs to be more grounded may sound idiotic, but even within this dystopian world the creators have built, I still want to see characters talking and behaving like normal people with basic critical thinking would. The twist at the end was cool, but also really predictable. Art is great still.

The flashback was cool, but I don't know how they're going to wrap up this story in 3 more issues. I did like the little Majora's Mask reference though.

Listen...I'm always jazzed to see Batman show up in a comic that's not his. But when he shows up, I like him to come in and show what an absolute badass he is and then leave in a way that makes the other characters feel lucky just to have breathed the same air as him for a bit and survived mostly intact. So it kinda bums me out to see him show up and do not much of anything except for taking punches from teenagers and getting his Batmobile stolen. Firstly...this issue just showed Batman taking out a group of highly trained and fully armed assassins in seconds, but he gets punched and kicked in the face twice while trying to take down two amateur anarchists? And then some girl who is a thief and a teleporter manages to steal a vehicle that is probably more secure than any vault or supercomputer on earth? That just seems like a bit of a joke to me, and not a very good one at that. Art was good, that was a plus. Also... "Your government took me from my kid". Yeah, Deadshot...that's what freaking happens when you break the law...you go to jail and you get separated from the people you love. Well if it isn't the consequences of your own dang actions.

Sorta nice to get some backstory on a couple of the new characters I guess, but it comes at a really random time and doesn't seem to have much to do with Ted Kord and his plan. It felt like Taylor realized he's now 8 issues in and he should probably give us some reason to give a crap about the Revolutionaries, so he jammed some backstory into a filler issue and made it fit even though it didn't. "The Aerie" made it seem like his (her? I can't tell...) backstory was directly relevant to their plot to assassinate Kord, but it really wasn't, at all.

The art again here was really not great. It was hard to make out what was happening. I'm glad Loki's story wasn't entirely pointless and that it actually connected back to the central plot, but these last two issues still definitely felt like major filler.

Unfortunately, while I've loved most of this run so far, this issue suffers heavily from Esad Ribic not being on the art and Sam Humphries coming on as a writer. You can feel Humphries' influence on the script, and it's just not on the same level as what came before. It's still Hickman's story so it's certainly not terrible, but it's a noticeable shift.

I don't know man...I'm just really not feeling this change in writing style, and the art is doing absolutely nothing for me. Going from Ribic's masterful work to this is supremely disappointing.

This was a meh issue. It's fun and all, but when your whole thing is "It's fun!", then you're gonna need it to be REALLY fun every issue or it quickly starts to lose its charm. Haven't really seen much in the way of characterization or depth yet, and when you don't have that and the jokes aren't landing, then you don't have much left. Also, to borrow from a Bill Burr bit: how did I know Ramone was gonna be a lesbian? Same way you did. They don't all look the same, but every now and then you get a layup.

This was okay. The writing seemed a little more bland for some reason. Just felt like it lacked the grandiosity and epicness of the first issue. And obviously the art took a big step back, but I expected as much since nothing could've compared with the perfection Phil Jimenez treated us to. Taken on its own, Gene Ha's art is not bad, it's just much, MUCH weaker than Jimenez's, so it seems bad by comparison. One nitpicky problem I had was it seems like Gene Ha just completely ignored Jimenez's character design of Hera from the first issue and decided to do his own thing, cause she looks completely different in book 2! She's decked out in a totally different wardrobe, her facial features seem radically different, and she's very clearly put on more than a few pounds for some strange reason. Just out of curiosity, I flipped ahead to peep on Nicola Scott's design in book 3, and it looks very similar to Phil Jimenez's, so I don't know what Gene Ha was doing. I honestly don't much care how she's supposed to look, but at least be consistent.

I love the Sentry, and the scenes with him were the best part about this issue, which is probably the only reason my rating isn't lower. Romita's art is getting sloppier, and the story is lacking.

I don't think I like what Percy has done to Moira throughout this story...seems way off base from Hickman's vision.

Listen...Simon Spurrier is a fantastic writer; one of my favourites in fact. That said, some of the issues in this run have been bogged down by FAR too many words. It's so text-heavy that the story doesn't get a chance to breathe, and it makes it a bit of a slog to read. It's not helped by the lackluster artwork either. Like with Tom King's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, I don't mind reading a ton of words if I get to stare at beautiful art while I do. Unfortunately, that's just not the case here. I feel like a 7/10 is generous for this one.

Kaiju...? Where in the heck did that come from? And why? Just... why? This issue made very little sense and didn't seem to advance the story much at all. They could have just showed the Scarlet Witch stuff and left out the nonsensical anime battle. A 7/10 is probably generous for this issue but I'm still enjoying this book overall so, there you go.

I feel like this series should be titled "The Death of Wanda Maximoff" or something instead of "Trial of Magneto". The latter seems a tad misleading for how much Magneto is actually in this story. Also, I feel like Williams was on a time crunch when she wrote this issue. Everything feels sloppily thrown together. There are some cool moments, but the pacing kept me from enjoying them.

"Ladies and gentle-theys"? The hell does that even mean? You can say ladies but not gentlemen? Other than that enormously stupid line, this was decent. I hope this story finds some semblance of purpose at some point though...if it's just mindless gore and wisecracks for 5 issues, that would be disappointing.

Andy reacted WAY too casually to seeing his recently deceased wife crawl up out of the grave that he just buried her in.

I don't know man...the art is great, but I'm just not jiving with this story the way I want to be. I really do want to like this, but I'm just having a hard time with it. Maybe it's because this is my first Batman Beyond comic, but I feel like that shouldn't matter. Hopefully it starts to become a little more coherent soon.

This was just okay. The art was good, but the writing was so-so. Honestly the story just felt kind of bland. Not a lot happened, not a ton of depth. Just a run-of-the-mill Catwoman tale with a little bit of personal backstory. I feel like there was an opportunity here to go deeper into Selina's motivations and drive behind who she is and what she does but it was mostly missed and we got a fairly surface-level story. Good art from McKelvie was the best part of this in my opinion.

I really want to like this more...but I'm finding Zdarsky's writing just kind of basic. The story isn't original, and I knew that going in, but I'm not finding much about the way it's being told to be all that interesting either. I don't know...it's good I guess, it's just nothing overly special.

Don't know much about Black Cat, just that she's Marvel's Catwoman and an occasional Spider-Man love interest. This was a decent first issue. A few genuinely funny moments. Thr art was oddly inconsistent, going from really great to really rough panel to panel. The writing was fine and the story was fine too. Also, I rarely ever comment on it, but I wasn't a huge fan of the lettering. The font choice was weird and my eyes didn’t really like reading it. Just use the standard comic font! If it ain't broke, y'know?

Black Cat breaking into the Sanctum Sanctorum is a really fun concept for a heist comic. And I'm glad to see Sonny is sticking around, I liked him in issue 1.

I wish the art was better, cause this is a pretty fun comic for the most part.

This was fine.

Kinda weak. Starts off with a death, which makes said death a little anti-climactic, and the fight with Recluse was a little silly in parts, namely the way Natasha got in close to Bucky who Recluse was standing directly beside with a gun, then was able to throw something at a lever that opened a trapdoor which only her and Bucky fell through, all while Recluse just...what? Stood there? To think that she wouldn't be able to react in time to that maneuver with how easily she handled the two of them together immediately after that is a little unbelievable. Samnee's art throughout the fight scene was also a bit lesser than I've come to expect from him.

I don't super know what's going on anymore.

"EXCREMENT ALSO FLOATS!" LOL what a line. Hard to take this issue seriously after that.

This was a bit better, but I just don't really find this story compelling.

This was okay. On one hand, Sale's art is as good as it's ever been. Possibly thanks to colourist Dave Stewart. On the other hand, Loeb's writing is probably as weak as it's ever been. This definitely does not seem to have the same depth or even the same aesthetic as the other Long Halloween tales have had. That said, it's still a decent read and better than a lot of stuff out there.

7.5/10 is probably being generous, but the art bumped it up significantly. Writing-wise, this was...not great. The dialogue is pretty bad, and Catwoman's internal monologues are not nearly as compelling as Batman's in the other Long Halloween installments.

It's a shame Sale's gorgeous art is wasted on this nothingburger of a story. Again, I'm probably being generous with a 7.5/10, but the art deserves it. And while it's not great, the story isn't atrocious. It just...is.

This was an engaging enough comic, even if I don't really understand the point of it. It's a tragic story about a boy who retreated inward after the death of his brother which he blames himself for, but then finds purpose and solace in his new identity as a killer. So...yeah, I'm not really sure what the message is here. Murder provides a cathartic release from the pain of childhood trauma? I dunno. It is what it is I guess.

Writing? Meh. Story? Even meh-er. Art? Absolutely fantastic. Marco Checchetto is wasted on this story. Fortunately for him and us, he will eventually get to draw for Zdarsky's run, which I very much look forward to reading.

Not gonna say too much about the politics implicit in this one cause I already had a comment conversation about it on here years ago and it was... not constructive. I've come to expect and accept that, from time to time, certain social/political views are going to be inserted into the comics I read, and I'm probably going to disagree with those views more than I agree with them. That's just the way the world is these days I'm afraid. That aside, this issue was decent. I wasn't a big fan of the art like most people apparently were, and I didn't think the plot reveal in this issue was satisfying enough based on how great the previous one was in my opinion, especially with that cool cliffhanger. Also, can I just say that I'm getting a little tired of Matt being the "wrong" one. It seems like he's always getting chewed out by Foggy or Cole or Elektra or Spider-Man or the priest-of-the-week for doing something irresponsible or immoral. It would be refreshing to get a few arcs where Matt is clearly in the right and everyone knows it and supports it. Or maybe even where Matt does the chewing out for a change. And am I the only one that thought Kirsten touching Daredevil's face and telling him how worried she was about him was a little weird and awkward? Especially considering she doesn't know it's Matt. I don't know...just seemed a little unprofessional for a lawyer with her masked vigilante client.

Art was not good, probably the worst of the run so far. Story was fine, writing was fine. Still think Fisk and Mary together is weird. I liked Matt's brief conversation with Fisk before his wedding, that was a cool little moment, even if everybody knows that contentment won't make Fisk stop being Fisk.

This was easily the weakest issue so far. Too wordy, and the art is really not my taste.

Again, I feel like the story isn't really advancing much.

Good art, meh story. Beginning felt like Zdarsky having a go at "Heroes In Crisis"; complete with the signature Tom King 9-panel grid interview headshots. This run is also getting a little bogged down by Zdarsky continually inserting his political views on the prison system into these issues. I'm all for rehabilitation, and that is definitely something that prisons can do better, but breaking a bunch of criminals out of prison is not exactly going to teach them accountability, which is definitely a big part of rehabilitation. It also just seems like a really risky move...breaking a bunch of super-powered villains out of a maximum security prison and just crossing your fingers that they'll join your crusade if you teach them how to prepare enough garlic? Bold move, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off. Best line of the issue: "...the carrot instead of ME." That was brilliant, gotta give credit where due. Worst line of the issue: "Here, you'll only suffer from CARE." I mean... YIKES. Big yikes.

This issue was okay. It felt a little weird for Matt to fly 5 of his jailbroken rehab projects all the way over to North Carolina just to get involved with a demo case that I'm not entirely sure how he would've heard about in the first place unless he's like...checking the news from time to time in between reading ancient Fist prophecies and shagging Elektra. But I guess Zdarsky had to find some way to keep driving his politics home. Other brief thoughts: - The art was good, the story kind of advances but not really? - Dragon? Sure, I guess! - On one level, The Punisher using swords is cool, but on another level, it's weird and I don't like it. - No, Bullet, prisons don't separate fathers from their children...fathers separate themselves from their children when they choose to violate the law. Prisons aren't entities that prey on innocent people and turn them into bad people, they're where we put criminals in order to protect innocent people who keep the law from those who break it. - I guess the Matt who acknowledged that he wasn't above the law, willingly turned himself in, and demanded to serve his full sentence is gone and he's been replaced by a Matt who seems to think he IS the law and that as long as he thinks he's breaking the law to help people then he's justified. I know this has always sort of been Matt's justification, it was just presented in a weird way here that seemed at odds with Matt's previous attitude and how he struggled with guilt over what he has to do in the name of justice.

Another issue where stuff happens, but I feel like the plot hasn't really advanced at all. The art was a step down, and the twist of *SPOILER ALERT* being dead and in hell kinda came out of left field. Not sure what the ramifications of that will be, but I'm growing more impatient with these last couple arcs. I'm not overly invested in this whole battle against the Hand...it doesn't seem all that well thought out. And I'm just so tired of the Stromwyns man...they've become so annoying as villains in this series. I miss Muse.

This was decent. Basic Punisher-tries-to-kill-bad-guy-while-Daredevil-tries-to-stop-him-from-killing-bad-guy type story. Art was good, but duplicated panels are always kind of annoying, especially when they happen multiple times in an issue.

This was good not great. Story was so-so, art was good, dialogue was okay. Nothing to write home about, but still entertaining.

This didn't live up to the high hopes I had for it in the beginning. I feel like there were a lot of really cool concepts here and Watters wasn't able to really flesh them out fully in just 5 issues. I would've loved to see this series go for twice as long. As it is, unfortunately the ending was a bit muddled, though it still gets points for being generally well-written and having cool visuals. Overall, great concept, so-so execution.

Listen, I enjoyed this series, however, there were a couple things in this issue that bothered me. Effie asking why the robots were being taken away a few pages after having literally witnessed it with her own eyes and having it explained to her by the ones who did it, was honestly kind of dumb. Lemire is a capable writer, but this just annoyed me. Effie as a character is kind of annoying in general though. Her wanting to be taken away by the robots but then professing her love for Andy like she wasn't just about to leave him behind? Hard to be invested in a love story when she treats Andy like that. Additionally, in the final panels, why tf does Andy look like he's 45 years old?!? Based on the timeline, he should only be like 30. That's something that I noticed with the flashbacks earlier in the series too, characters not looking their supposed age. I guess that's more of a Dustin Nguyen problem though. Overall, the series was enjoyable and had some great moments. It seemed unable to decide whether it was a teen/YA story or an adult one, which made it difficult to get into at times. The art was stunning for the most part, though it occasionally lacked detail. Glad I re-read this and looking forward to getting into Ascender for the first time. Fantasy is more my taste than Sci-Fi anyway.

This was an interesting albeit overly long and not entirely necessary filler issue. It added some backstory on Gotham and some context for what Orgham's plan is, and I did like the use of the Reality Engine to explain the recurring patterns of notable figures and events in Gotham as opposed to it all just being a big coincidence that people in the present closely resemble people from the past. The art was nothing to write home about unfortunately.

Not as well-written. Art is great, but the narration and story feel somewhat disjointed. Feels like a Rick Remender story but with every second line taken out to make it less coherent.

Not a bad finale, but I had slightly higher expectations. This was a silly, entertaining series that wasn't quite as deep as it may have wanted to be, but it was a fun ride nonetheless.

There were some things I liked in this, and then there were some things I disliked and were, quite frankly, really really dumb. Firstly, Duggan needs to stop trying to be funny. His jokes never land, and they always seem to be thrown in at the worst moments. It's especially frustrating because he does have the potential to be a half decent writer and he shows it in some places, but then he'll go and write something completely asinine like having Krakoa incapacitate Nimrod by hocking a giant loogie of amber at him, prompting Nimrod to exclaim "Amber?! Unit disabled! He got me!" Like...are you kidding me Gerry...? Nimrod was a terrifying, menacing force when Hickman wrote him. Here, he's an absolute joke. I got secondhand embarrassment from reading his lines in this issue. The story wasn't bad. I thought the final conflict was set up well, and I liked the couple callbacks to earlier events in the Krakoan era. I don't love how many tie-ins there are to this final event that I'm definitely not going to read all of and therefore will feel like I'm half out of the loop at all times... but this was an okay start. I already know I'm going to enjoy Gillen's half of this story FAR more than Duggan's, but that comes as a surprise to precisely no one. Oh, and Lucas Werneck's art was perfectly adequate. Good in places, and just 'fine' in others. It would've been cool to have the legend Pepe Larraz come back so that he and R.B. Silva could provide a nice little artistic bookend to the Krakoan era, but alas...twas not meant to be I suppose. At least he's doing the covers I guess, not that that makes much difference to me who only collects trades.

A little too wordy for my taste, but still enjoyable.

This wasn't bad...but a rogue killer robot defeating 40 of the Earth's strongest superheroes is a bit of a stretch. I ain't buyin' it.

Reed shoulda slapped Alyssa into next year for disrespecting Sue like that. Instead he kisses her on the cheek? Man up Mr. Fantastic.

Interesting mystery being set up with the death of this other Watcher, but the scene with Ben and Debbie felt weirdly out of place and oddly paced, and I really don't think Mark Millar understands Doctor Doom at all. He would legitimately NEVER kneel or call anyone master, even if it was part of some play that has yet to be revealed. He simply wouldn't do it.

What is going on...? I'm all for slow burn mysteries where key plot information is held back for a time and secrets are slowly unraveled...but this just seems like Lemire doesn't know what to do next... It's one thing to string readers along when they can make educated guesses as to where the story will go next. It's another thing entirely to give them no clue whatsoever what is happening for several issues in a row THIS late in a story. Probably would've rated it lower if not for Sorrentino's gorgeous art. I liked this better back when it was a small town horror/mystery... This dimension hopping is really starting to lose me. There's only 3 more issues left... Lemire has his work cut out for him in tying up this series satisfactorily.

This feels like it's turned into a confusing zombie story.

It's decent, I just wish it was a longer series so things could be fleshed out a little more. Everything is moving so fast it's hard to care about our main character or much of anything that's going on. The art is nice to look at, but I'm finding it hard to get invested in the story.

Not bad, not amazing. Just decent. Again, I maintain that this needed to be longer. 6 issues might've been perfect. 3 was just too few to make this impactful.

Davos isn't an overly compelling villain to me, so I wasn't super invested in this showdown. Aja's art continues to be stellar though. Also, I thought Orson deserved a little better than that.

I liked this fine. The dialogue was good, although the story wasn't super clear to me. I feel like I may be missing key pieces; feels like some context would help. Alex Maleev's art is really great here, except during action scenes. I find he struggles a bit to make it clear what's going on anytime characters are doing anything other than standing and talking.

Art, great. Story, kinda confusing. Writing, not bad.

Art is still good. Writing is actually pretty decent. I just can't get all the way behind a story about Doctor Doom apologizing, admitting shame, and caring about people other than himself. It just goes against who he is. Also, Bendis had to know that some writer would eventually come along and turn Doom back into the bad guy he is, right? So then why go down this road at all?

Listen...this issue had some intense moments, however, I can't help but feel a little bit indifferent at this point whenever somebody gets torn in half or has a hole punched through them. Why? Because it rarely seems to matter in the end. The number of times a character has seemed to meet their demise only to somehow survive and heal completely is getting a little silly. So far, the characters we've seen "die" only for it to be revealed that they didn't actually die include Immortal (although I get that that's kinda his whole thing), Mark (several times), Eve (several times), Dupli-Kate, Angstrom Levy, the Mauler twins, Conquest, Allen (twice), and probably a few others I'm forgetting. I am enjoying the story, but some of these moments would pack way more of a punch if they actually had lasting effects. It seems like in this issue (SPOILER ALERT) Oliver really did die, but when Thragg punched through him, I felt nothing, because in the back of my mind I was thinking "Ah well, people have survived worse. He'll be fine." Eve's leg being ripped off by Robot a while ago was even undone, so that didn't ultimately mean anything either other than being used for shock value. That's what having so many fake-out deaths does. It takes away the surprise if the character does recover, and it takes away the emotional gut punch if they don't. Kirkman has played that trick several times too many in this series and it's taken something significant away from this series. Part of me wonders if The Walking Dead was his attempt at fixing this mistake by having so many deaths that were actually permanent. Wish we had gotten a little more of that here, but oh well. Oh, and Cory Walker's art still kinda sucks. Really glad we get Ottley back next issue.

This was a fine opener. Jed Mackay's writing of Felicia is on par with the previous run, so if you dug that then you'll dig this. The villain seems pretty one-dimensional with unoriginal motives, so that's a bit of a letdown, but oh well. Tony was written well here. I got a chuckle when he followed through on his petty threat to turn the sprinklers on Felicia.

Tamara is pretty dense, isn't she?

This was a weaker issue. Had a hard time following the conversations, and the action was a little light this time.

This was probably the weakest issue so far. The first bit with Stel and Zem seemed a little out of place tonally, and I didn't really understand Della's decision at the end...she just leaves her sister? I don't know...just seemed a strange story choice.

Not a bad issue overall, but honestly...the Punisher using a wig and dress to pose as a woman is just about the dumbest and most un-Punisher-like thing I've ever seen. Like they wouldn't know he was a man the second they saw him. Punisher would've just come in shooting. Also, the art was worse than in the previous three issues for whatever reason. I can't quite put my finger on why, but it just seemed like it took a step down.

This series was decent, not great. I had higher hopes for it after a banger of an opening issue, but the jokes got kinda tired after a bit and there's only so many explosions and robots I can take before I need some actual story. It was entertaining to be sure, but it won't stay with me, and I doubt I'll ever revisit it. Glad I read it though.

I really want to like this series, it's just kind of confusing and all over the place. Hopefully it makes more sense soon.

I love Hickman, but that...was confusing as all heck. Great final page, but MAN was it hard to follow.

This is just...okay. I feel like LaValle hasn't done a great job with the characterization; everyone talks the exact same way...nobody has a unique personality, and as a result, I'm finding it extremely hard to care about any of them. Nanny and Orphan-Maker seem completely different from how Zeb Wells wrote them in Hellions (which was brilliant by the way). This just feels...I don't know...stale.

Dawn's Mom is a giant B. I've decided. It's not often that I get legitimately angry at fictional characters in comic books...the only other time was when Miles Morales' friend Ganke spilled his secret identity to Goldballs just to suck up to him. But Dawn's Mom being cold and super rude to her after abandoning her and her sister and Dad when they were kids for no good reason and then refusing to donate blood to save Dawn's life when she's literally one of the only people who can and instead just walking away?!? Ffs. I coulda slapped her saggy old face right off the page. Frustrations with Dawn's Mom aside, this was an okay issue. The monsters were weird and felt a bit out of place in the story, even one as whacky as this one. Spider-Man showing up didn't really seem necessary either, although I did like the "With cosmic power comes cosmic responsibility" line. Great art and colours from the Allred team as per usual.

This was a quick, decent read. The premise is interesting. Art was good. The main character isn't as likeable yet as I would've hoped, but I'll give it time for her to grow on me.

Not quite as good as the first issue, but still not an unenjoyable read. I liked it. Though I will say, Milligan didn't give Ribic much to work with here. His art is the main attraction with this book, but not much happened so Ribic didn't really get to work his magic.

This conclusion was fine. Overall, this mini-series was not what I was expecting, perhaps not what I'd hoped, but it was not bad, and it certainly was not deserving of the very low ratings it received by other reviewers. Ribic's art elevates this story significantly, and without him it would be much, much less worth anyone's time, but for what it was, I don't regret reading it. It was cool to see Namor depicted in such a terrifying light.

Probably the weakest so far. I thought the story where Superman was split into two personalities was kind of interesting, but the race story was too wordy and just plain boring. We get it, Superman doesn't give up.

I don't know what it is, but I feel like I'm just not as into this series as most people seem to be. The story-telling method just isn't really working for me, and the humour is only landing some of the time. Some of the issues are better than others, but overall, it's just been okay. I really want to like this more than I currently do.

Obviously this issue suffered due to the simple fact that it wasn't written by Alan Moore. That said, Bissette actually did an okay job here. The story felt a little out of place in the context of what's been going on with Swamp Thing on Rann, but it was by no means a bad issue.

I don't know man...the writing is just a bit too hoaky for my taste. The art is good at least.

I'm just not really sure what the point of it all was. I guess the point is that evil will always exist, but good will always be there to keep it in check? Maybe? I don't know. Both the story and the art were more confusing than they needed to be.

I really want to like this more than I am. I seem to be in the minority here, but something's just not clicking for me. Maybe it's me, but I'm just having trouble following and the story just doesn't seem super interesting yet. Subic's art is still the bright spot.

Not as good as I was hoping it would be, but I didn't dislike it.

It makes no sense that the other Thors would feel it when young Thor gets hurt, and I wasn't a huge fan of the art, but this was still a fine issue.

I'm normally a huge fan of Christian Ward's art, but he was wasted on this issue. Not enough going on for him to work his magic unfortunately. Not his fault, but disappointing nonetheless.

It's tragic that Jerome Opeña's absolutely brilliant art is all but wasted on this comic. It's the only thing propping it up.

Juan Jose Ryp's art carried this.

This was an alright first issue. It doesn't really hook you all that strongly from the get go, but we are introduced to our main character and given a curious little mystery to wonder at. A more interesting ending would've been nice to really draw readers in, but this just might be one of those stories that takes time to find its legs. The artwork was great, and I loved the Japanese setting and culture.

Rori meets another person with strange abilities after having already met one in the first issue. Her powers also seem to be manifesting more. I assume at some point someone will come along who knows what's going on and can explain it to Rori (and us), but until then, lots of questions. The writing is okay. The dialogue feels a little cheesy a lot of the time, but the art is really good, and I like how quickly the story reads.

The jokes weren't really landing for me in this one. Nice to see Gwen breaking the fourth wall, but I find it a little weird that neither her nor B.R.O.D.O.K. have mentioned her time working as a henchman for M.O.D.O.K. in her Unbelievable Gwenpool run, especially since he's the villain they're currently up against. Just seems like something that would come up. Also, I'm not gonna lie...I could not care less about Fuse or whatever his name is. For a new character, we haven't really spent any time getting to know him, and so he has zero depth at the moment. At least the others are all established, so even though we haven't really gotten any strong character moments for them either, I at least know something of their background and history.

I loathe the thought of giving a book written by Jonathan Hickman and illustrated by Greg Capullo a score lower than a 10, cause that's what this series SHOULD be...but it isn't, and I can't in good conscience rate it any higher. It's not terribly written, and the art is obviously phenomenal, but there's just no substance to this story. No depth. No apparent direction either. What's the point? What's the message? It's just a basic revenge story, and not even that compelling of one. And now Logan has had his revenge, but we've still got two issues left? What is going on...? This just doesn't seem like the same Jonathan Hickman who was the mastermind behind arguably the greatest era in X-Men comics history, not to mention incredible, all-time great runs on Fantastic Four and the Avengers. I just had such higher hopes for this mini. These two creators have proven that they're capable of so much more.

The art here was better than book 2, but still not as good as in book 1. Unfortunately, while the writing wasn't necessarily bad, it just didn't really grab me. I found it hard to care about any of these characters. Also, Wonder Woman has extremely little to do with this story so it's kinda annoying that they put her name in the title just to sell copies when it would've been far more accurate to simply name it Historia: The Amazons. I realize I'm in the minority of folks who wasn't completely wowed by this story. I feel like there were some really good ideas and concepts here that I COULD have loved, but I just didn't feel like it was executed as well as it could've been.

I love Clayton Crain's art, but sometimes it's so dark that I have a hard time telling what's going on. That fact hurt this issue a lot for me.

Well, there you have it. So ends the "first" Krakoan age. I wager any ending to my favourite X-Men era of all time would've been bitter no matter what, but I can't help but be slightly disappointed. I'm definitely glad they left open the possibility for a return to Krakoa down the road, but it's hard not to lament what could have been. Even for a big fan of a the Krakoan era like myself, it's undeniable that this whole era peaked right at the very beginning and that it's lowest point was the very end. I don't think anyone can argue that Gerry Duggan at his best during this era holds a candle to Jonathan Hickman at his worst. That in itself is sad, but all that being said, it still doesn't take away from the many, MANY highlights from this era: Immortal X-Men, X-Men: Red, Hellions, S.W.O.R.D, Way of X, Legion of X, A.X.E. Judgment Day...to name a few. So even though Krakoa goes with more of a fizzle than a bang, I choose to remember the best that this era gave us and hope, like I'm sure the mutants do, that the next Krakoan age will be even better.

This book seems a bit disjointed and all over the place. I hope it starts to make more sense soon. That said, even without Pepe Larraz, the art is still pretty good.

I'm finding it difficult to know what to think of this. I like the way this added depth to the relationship between Kurt and Mystique. I liked how Spurrier weaved the narrative together using flashbacks and gap-filling; I thought that was pretty skillfully done. I liked the art throughout. However...I'm not sure how necessary the retcon was. Yes, it adds depth to Kurt and Mystique's relationship, but I feel like there were other ways to accomplish that without messing with Marvel history. What does Mystique being Kurt's...dad (I guess?) and Irene being his mom add to anything? Also...if Azazel is no longer (or never was?) Kurt's father...then where the F does Kurt get his pointy ears, demon tail, and teleportation powers from?? Are we just going to say that Mystique made him look that way? That she...altered her sperm (ugh)...when she knocked up Destiny in order to make him look like Azazel? Was she essentially copying Azazel's genetic code (as Doc Nemesis says she's able to do in his journal entry)? And if so, then doesn't that technically still make Azazel the father, biologically speaking? Was it basically just using a sperm donor but weirder? I have lots of questions, and I doubt I'm going to get any canonical answers, which makes it hard to find satisfaction in a retcon like this. Also, my last quibble is that I'm really tired of Xavier always being made the bad guy.

This series had some great moments, but overall it was just kinda okay. Spurrier is one of my favourite writers, but I felt like his script was far too muddled far too much of the time. David's inner monologues were often too wordy and too confusing and they tended to detract from the story. The art was also inconsistent and downright distracting at times. I'm glad I read it, but I don't think I'd read it again.

Good premise, not sure it was executed as well as it could've been, and the art is...not very good.

This was bananas, not sure if it's in a good way yet.

After several stellar issues, this one I thought was just okay.

Maybe I'll update my rating after the final issue, but I just don't really know what to make of this for now. It's intriguing, but I just have no idea where it's leading or what it means. Hopefully it all makes sense in the end.

Dang... that ending was dark!

I liked it, but...the villains got away and Scott ended up leaving Cassie? This didn't really feel like a conclusion.

There was definitely too much going on here, and while I did find the dialogue a bit busy, I didn't think it was as terrible as some people seemed to. Not on par with Remender's work on Uncanny Avengers, but far from the worst thing I've read. The art was quite good too. Overall, not a bad start.

Not a bad ending. This series didn't impress me as much as I was expecting considering the terrific art and the usually terrific writers. Hopefully Neo-Gothic is better.

This issue had some pacing issues, but some cool moments as well. I enjoyed Bruce's way of getting inside the victim's mind and the way that was portrayed. Never been a huge fan of Hitch's art, but it's servicable here and at least not a distraction.

Ellis probably writes my favourite version of Alfred.

This was a fine ending to a good-not-great series. The villain was meh, the mystery was okay (the way Bruce employed his detective skills to solve the mystery was more interesting than the mystery itself), the art was fairly bland, the pacing was strange, and the dialogue was great. The best part of this series was Bruce and Alfred's interactions. That combined with Batman's detective work makes this a worthwhile read in my opinion, though I expected more from Ellis. Honestly, I truly think a better artist would have made a HUGE difference here. Hitch's style was just not well suited for this story. The final issue probably sets the record for fewest lines of dialogue in a finale, but I thought it worked pretty well actually. The only problem with it was that I didn't really care about the villain at all...so his defeat felt somewhat anti-climactic. Otherwise, it was a pretty epic showdown. In the end, I'm glad I read this, but I probably won't return to it, and it doesn't land among Ellis' best works.

I'm definifely enjoying this series, but I tell ya...these issues are ending really strangely. It almost feels like some issues are missing a page or two at the end, and we just hop out of the story abruptly. Some curious choices on Ellis' part, but the writing is still good. I just wish he had chosen a different artist to work with...Hitch's art is just so basic and uninteresting most of the time.

All I want to know is how in the world did Felicia conceal her Black Cat suit underneath her wedding dress...?

Fun issue. Again, a few hilarious jokes, a few that didn't land. Overall entertaining and nice to look at though.

An alright issue overall, but an admittedly awesome ending.

As a Canadian, I couldn't help but notice fellow canucklehead Jed Mackay calling it "pop" instead of "soda". A funny slip, but a slip nonetheless. Art was good again here, but at the same time, good grief...how many different artists can they go through in 12 issues? Can we get a little bit of artistic consistency please? Also, Deadpool's line was spot-on and hilarious. And Felicia's redhead joke was great too. Mackay's jokes don't always land, but when they do they're brilliant.

I actually quite liked the storytelling method in this issue of having Felicia sitting down with Fox and recounting how she went about saving Manhattan. I thought that the Fox should've probably been a little more peeved or scared at losing his immortality since he was willing to condemn an entire city in order to get it. I also am not a fan of Felicia and Odessa getting together. It just doesn't feel right or make sense to me.

This was a step up. Honestly, now that we're out of the ridiculous Dimension Z, everything feels much more grounded and as result, the comic is more enjoyable. Art is better than Romita Jr.'s, but inconsistent at times. Characters' features look too different in certain panels. That said, it's a big step up.

That reporter girl truly sucks. Trying to guilt trip Sam for violating your freedom of the press when he's trying to save hundreds of innocent lives? How dare you. The people who die as a result of your desire to publish a juicy piece will be on your head. This issue was better, but yeah...that reporter girl sucks.

These time jumps are a bold move...it moves the plot forward, but it doesn't really give you time to settle in. The flashbacks to Steve's past are honestly the best part. JRJ's art is a little rough...I normally enjoy his work but he's not at his best here.

Ending felt a little rushed and didn't pack as much of an emotional punch as I was expecting based on the rest of the series. Overall, this was a fun mini. Some of the political statements Chiang seemed to be trying to make were a little on the nose at times, which I didn't love. I also really didn't like that they made Barbara a lesbian...like, where did that come from? I don't have a big problem with Ivy being fat like some people did, but since when has Barbara been into women? A bit of an odd change if you ask me.

Art is spectacular. Story is still so-so. I have to ask...does Jeph Loeb have a Catwoman fetish or something? I don't know that I've ever seen a character sexualized as much as Catwoman is in this story. A lot of characters get sexualized in comics, but it's not usually this obvious. Horny Riddler and his constant passes at Selina is growing old real fast.

I don't like this whole evil-Daredevil Shadowlands arc, but on its own this was a decent issue.

Marco Checchetto is so good, man.

Everything about what Matt is doing and saying is so completely out of character for him it's almost funny. This whole arc of him leading the hand is ridiculous. That said, I somehow still managed to enjoy this issue. It was written decently well (minus Matt's dialogue, especially when he's giving pre-battle speeches), and the art was really great.

This felt a little rushed, and I'm not super sure what the point of this mini arc was other than to give Sam his sight back, but the art was good and there were a couple shocking moments.

Art is a very slight step down from Garney's, but still very good and a similar style that maintains the tone which I appreciate. This issue was more of a setup than anything, but it was well-written and a good re-introduction to Elektra.

Not really sure how Soule is planning on tying things up from here...but this was pretty good when judged on its own.

A pretty decent issue giving Mike Murdock some backstory. Well written, but the art wasn't amazing.

It's always so sad whenever Marco Checchetto isn't on art. None of the fill-ins have come close to his masterful work. That said, this was a decent issue. Elektra coming in CLUTCH.

Checchetto's pages were beautifully drawn, as was to be expected, but the prison scenes were less so. It's a shame that every now and then a big event like this will come along and derail all of a series' built up momentum. I get why it has to be tied in, it just sucks for the story that was being told.

Art is a downgrade obviously, but a good issue. Bullseye going on a killing spree was a cool ending. Perfectly on brand for his character.

Really cool to see a host of past Daredevil artists make some cameo appearances, and Checchetto always kills it, but other than the nice art this issue didn't have much else going on. This Goldy-guardian-angel stuff is a little strange, and I feel like this issue could've advanced the plot a lot more. We just got a lot of Matt and Goldy talking, and that's basically it.

Matt the dragon whisperer? Sure, alright! Great art, cool fights, but it doesn't feel as high stakes as it should for some reason.

Not bad at all, but not overly eventful. The writing was solid, the art was great, the story just wasn't all that interesting. Seemed sorta filler. A showdown with Kraven sounds promising though.

Again, well-written, well-drawn, just not anything to write home about. Filler content between Devil's Reign and the next Daredevil arc. It's good filler, but it's filler nonetheless.

The switcheroo with the aliens being behind everything and then the Green Man being done away with so casually seems a little unsatisfying, but I'm not as hard on this series as some. It's still a fun Elseworlds tale decently written with great art.

Decent, but a few thougts: - King Jefferson retroactively justifying his murder of Jor-El simply because Zala took revenge on them is stupid. You can't say you were right to do an evil thing because "Look at the evil they did to us after!" A wrong done in response to a wrong doesn't make the first wrong right. - Diana not understanding why Zala would take revenge for the murder of her father is pretty stupid. Like, really? You can't wrap your head around why she might have killed Jacob? - Characters sure are dropping like flies in this series, aren't they? That's three major character deaths in as many issues. - Zala killing the metal men was wild.

Good backstory. I still think Jor-El and Martha Wayne's infidelity crosses the line in terms of character deviations I'm willing to tolerate in an elseworlds story. I also think it was somewhat unrealistic how easily everybody seemed to get over it. Both marriages and the friendships between the two couples survived and ended up being just fine? Just because Bruce was a good kid? I'm sorry, but I don't buy it. It's not impossible, it's just absurdly unlikely. Even if Thomas and Kara were able to forgive their respective spouses, it's really hard to believe they'd stay friends after that. And that's a problem because the whole royal succession of the Waynes by the Els depends on their friendship remaining intact. So that's probably the shakiest part of the narrative. But otherwise, this offered some helpful context and wad a well told backstory. I like the twist of Lex Luthor being the Joker, sort of becoming both Batman and Superman's greatest villains combined.

Constantine is pretty poorly written here. Otherwise this was decent.
