Jan 16, 2008So this issue sounds pretty much perfect at this point, right? Unfortunately, there's a third artist on board this month, one that doesn't mesh well with the other two. Javier Pulido was probably chosen for his ability to mimic Aja's style. Mimicry it may be, but none of the subtleties are present in his work. Compared to Aja or Kano, Pulido's pencils are a downright bore. Hopefully with a new one-shot issue taking the place of issue #13 next month, Aja will find enough time to avoid unnecessary fill-in artists for the big finale. Read Full Review

Jan 15, 2008Every great series has to have the occasional less-than-great issue, and Immortal Iron Fist #12 is just that: it's not a bad comic by any means, but there doesn't seem to be as much concern for story or unbridled imagination present in this issue as usual. The spark that has been apparent in other issues of the book doesn't seem to be burning as brightly here, and the result is a more predictable and less dazzling comic than we've come to expect from this creative team. I really liked this one. May have been my favourite issue of this run so far. I thought the writing was a lot sharper, and the story really started to take shape and gain direction, something that I've felt has been missing. The art was great, and I even mostly enjoyed the flashback sequence of Wendell, something that I've personally thought has been bogging down the series up till now.

Very inconsistent art hurts this issue's rating as Aja only draws part of it. Lei-Kung recruites Danny for his revolution against Yu-Ti. We finally get to see the Prince of Orphans in action and, on the last page, Prince of Orphans joins the revolution, revealing himself to be Orson's Thunderer

Prelude: Time for the fifth part of the Seven Capital Cities of Heaven. Brubaker and Fraction have ensured this has been a blast so far, let's see how it continues. The Good: The Prince of Orphans was bad ass. Wendell is an interesting twist and it shows the difference between him, Davos and Danny. Aja, Kano and Pulido's art is good but it is a drop from the last couple of issues. The Bad: Nothing. Conclusion: Thought the revolution aspect needs time to grow on me to have an impact on either side, I enjoyed this issue. Can't wait to read the next one.
