Humberto Ramos delivers some beautifully detailed and wonderful visual moments throughout the issue. The style is perfect for both these characters and the kind of story being told. Read Full Review

As the end of the first semester approaches, emotions and various plotlines are spiraling around the Strange Academy as the kids continue to find their way in the magical and non-magical parts of the world. A fantastically realized series that fits the Marvel mold while doing so much more, and proves that teenage-led books very much do have a place within the publisher in this day and age. Strange Academy #16 sets the pieces in motion for the title's last two issues and judging by this outing, the finale's going to be a real doozy. Read Full Review

Some really fun, really well-done character drama makes for a super swell winter formal issue. I love a good school dance storyline, and this one does not disappoint. Read Full Review

I always enjoy Strange Academy and can only hope they wrap all of the plotlines in the next two issues. Is it really ending after issue #18? The artistry, writing and plot is amazing and fun as always. It is hard for me to feel sympathy for Calvin. I grew up in Special Ed classes, especially in high school in the early 1980s. Naturally I was surrounded by atypical students and knew all of the "stoner" kids. Drugs, alcohol or "fixes" of any sort have always been repugnant to me so I can only hope Calvin finds redemption and forgiveness. AWESOME fun!

Typical Marvel/Disney to end a successful run and either replace the current writers/artist or start all over again with a #1 issue and 100 variant covers. Enjoy this while it lasts!!

This issue reeled me back into fandom. The art's up to its usual high standard, which helps. There are some really sweet character beats in the script, too. Most of all, though, the plot(s) develop much in line with my taste. I appreciate skipping the 2nd act of Calvin's boring drug story, and I'm glad to see that the Emily-Doyle-Iric love triangle hasn't actually been resurrected. Plus, the 1st scene suggests we're finally going to be unpacking the Academy's "cost of magic" situation.
