Sep 07, 2017Ahmed's storytelling is effective enough that the sheer amount of hand-waving in this issue's plot doesn't send up any red flags on the first read through, and the ending satisfyingly answers the nagging questions of the morality behind ancient Inhumans creating the jail in the first place. Sep 07, 2017Ahmed is still drawing the focus away from Black Bolt himself, and that feels like a questionable choice if we're meant to follow the title character beyond this opening story. Read Full Review

Another top notch issue from the great team of Saladin Ahmed and the great artist Christian Ward! It's already at issue, but I recommend finding the back issues because it's that good, or wait for the TPB! You will not be disappointed one of the best books of 2017 in my opinion! 10 out of 10!

Not only do I think this is my favourite marvel book at the moment but it is the book I look forward to reading most from any publisher. This issue continued the greatness of this series and in addition to Christian wards usual breathtaking art ,there is additional art from Frazer Irving which also looks beautiful. I could go into a great level of detail describing how much I love this book but instead I will simply say if your not reading this then 100% you should. I will definitely buy this in trade for myself and friends when this arc is over.

Black Bolt and Lockjaw loop back through the prison collecting his buddies and preparing (again) for a showdown with the Jailer. The slight downside of running a repetitive plot is nicely offset by the oodles of love on display in the BB/Lockjaw relationship. Christian Ward's art remains 90 percent brilliant; there's one panel that feels unfinished. Frazier Irving's guest work on the Lockjaw prelude is an excellent fit for the title and the issue.

The last issue was such a high note that even though this one is really good in both art and writing, i somehow felt underwhelmed a bit. Not a negative against it because i wish i can read the next one yesterday.

I don't read much of the modern Marvel these days, but from what I've read, this is one of their best, if not THE BEST, books at the moment. I'm really glad that this wasn't a stealth mini, as the series is supposed to continue with Legacy.
