Comic Watch - Justin Cooper
May 26, 2018The plot thickens as the Mayor firms his hold on the city and begins to surround himself with those he trusts. The plots begin to intersect and even playback to Daredevil 597. A good story will do this and draw you into the character's and plot development so it all feels like one cohesive tale. We finally figure out why the Hand is attacking New York, and it's because Blindspot stole the Beast's power to fight Muse, and the Hand are back for revenge. Daredevil and Blindspot fight ninjas into the precinct only to find a huge gap in the building while Foggy covers for Matt back at city hall. Pacing is a little slow and the art isn't as good as Garney's or Landini's

I enjoy this new artist Henderson. The plot, while a little slow, is interesting and Soule always has good dialogue.

The Hand's motive and modus for attacking New York are still unclear; Matt and Sam get into a guilt-o-matic squabble over whose fault it might be. Besides that, this issue showcases plenty of good first steps being taken by both mayor Matt Murdock and Daredevil. The strong, simple faces sketched in the mayor's office scenes are wonderfully expressive, and the rear half balances the talking with plenty of action. There are good roles for Foggy and Blindspot to play, too. This issue is surprisingly light given the "demon ninja" plot it's handling, but it's a consistently fun read.

Welcome to the Oblivion Bar where the first round is on me and the pretzels are free! Be warned: like the pickled eggs at the bar, this issue is going to get SPOILED rotten. So, if you haven't been following along, Matt Murdock is Mayor of NYC after the hand fired dozens of arrows in Fisk leaving him for dead.... oh yeah and Wilson Fisk was Mayor before that... ANYWAY... we open with Matt asking Foggy to be his new Chief of Staff so he can help cover for his "sudden" disappearing acts to help the city fight the Hand.
