Mar 21, 2017The introduction of the Purple Man into a story about how Matt Murdock forced the world to forget about his secret identity as Daredevil makes one wonder if Daredevil wasn't able to use the villain's power to his own advantage. If true, did Daredevil actually mind-control the entire world? And, if so, what would the unintended ramifications of that be? Will have to wait to see how events unfold in the rest of this arc for Daredevil's secret to be revealed. Worth a look. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Jim Werner
Mar 27, 2017At first read I really like this story. Probably about a 7.5 out of 10. BUT... As I did my do diligent research since this is a #18, I went back and read as many issues of Soule's run as I could get my hands on and found out that this run is moving extremely slow. This is a part 2 of the Purple Man story and I didn't even notice that it was, till my second read through. Most of the time that is a good thing. It means the writer is keeping you well abridged of all the pertinent information. In this case though there has been no real pertinent information given out in months regarding the mind wipe of the worlds memory of Matt and Daredevil being one and the same. Read Full Review

The Purple Man is such a cool villain. Soule is killing it with this arc and with his whole run.

After reading #17 I really wasn't all that interested in the telling of how Matt was able to get his secret identity back but #18 has changed that. Soule was able to craft a wonderfully told chapter here with great pacing and insight into Matt's mind! I really like how he has written the purple man in this issue really making him seem as terrifying as he should be! The art works so well with this book. Cannot wait to see where this story goes!

This was a riveting issue. It was cool to see The Purple Man, who I don't really know from the comics so much as "Jessica Jones" on Netflix. But he is terrifying here as he was there. The ending of this issue leaves me hanging on anxiously for the next. Charles Soule seems to have Daredevil down, and Ron Garney's raw art style is the perfect fit for this character and this story. Impressive stuff.

Before reading this run, I heard that The Purple Man/Children were involved in Matt's identity retcon so I kinda figured that It happened due to some device that helped channel their powers across the globe. Now it seems like that's exactly what's going to happen and I like it because it makes sense and doesn't involve some made-up BS like time travel or something like that, It uses already existing powers. I could be wrong though, guess we'll see.

Matt continues his confession up to the point where he falls into the Purple Man's clutches. I am fully sold on the story and the way it's being told - in words. When it comes to the art, I'm not convinced that this is "intentionally, stylishly messy" rather than "lazy/rushed/inept messy."
