EMERGENCY COUNCIL MEETING!
Magneto leaving the council means big shoes need to be filled. Selene demonstrating her foot size by crushing the whole island beneath it is unorthodox, yet compelling. Can the Quiet Council resist?

You Don't Read Comics - David Harth

    May 25, 2022

Immortal X-Men #2 is the total package. Gillens writing is brilliant, and the art from Werneck and Curiel is beautiful. This is pretty much the premiere X-Men book, and its only two issues in; it shows a creative team hitting on all cylinders, presenting great art, plot, and characterization. This is the flagship book, and no one can say otherwise. Read Full Review

    COMICON - Scott Redmond

Immortal X-Men gives the readers such a deep and great (also horrifying) look into the Quiet Council and how far this group is willing to go in the name of Krakoa or in the name of achieving their own hidden goals. A gorgeous book that makes a host of mostly deplorable characters still somewhat likeable while never letting us forget how awful they can be. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke

    May 18, 2022

Immortal X-Men #2 has a good balance of plot development and character work. It's also a strong finish to a two-part story, which is rather bold in modern comics superhero storytelling. But bold is the name of the game with Immortal X-Men and Gillen and Werneck's work here. Read Full Review

Overall, Immortal X-Men #2 was a solid follow-up to what happened in the first issue. Not everything is perfect here but there is enough done to show why an entire series around the Quiet Council is needed for this phase of the Krakoa Era for the X-Men. Read Full Review

This is phenomenal! This books hits on every level for me. Stories like this that have a ton of depth and emotion are exactly what I'm looking for. I can't wait to get the next issue to find out what happens next. Two issues in this has been nothing short of brilliant.

This has been one of the more fun, more engaging, and dramatic issues of X-MEN in general in a long while. The action is used to bring forward and characterize several of our X-Men cast. All balanced in 1 issue, this series is going to be stellar. What's my favorite moment? I can't even express. The bar cannot be anywhere but high.

Gillen has got an intriguing story going and I like it very much! Lucas Werneck is good but only when characters are static and posing. I mean they look fantastic! He needs to work on motion and action scenes and I believe in a few years he will be unstoppable.

Not quite as strong as the opening issue, but still a really good read. After joining the Quiet Council in Issue 1, we get a nice issue primarily focused on Hope and Sinister. This did a good job of making me, someone who hasn't read a lot of stories with her, like Hope's character and become even more glad she's on the council. Her interactions with Exodus, another character I don't know too much about, were some of the highlights of this issue. Plus, you have the always fun Sinister to top it all off.

(Cover Date: July, 2022) Summary: Storm & Magneto team up to bring down Selene's monster. After Dr. Nemesis warns that they might damage space by hurting it, they cease their attack. Hope & Exodus join their powers to protect the inhabitants from the monster. Sinister turns into a chimera to battle the monster. When the monster explodes, Nightcrawler rescues Sinister, who was blown out into the ocean. Destiny tells Hope that Selene will be vulnerable in London at a specific time. Hope uses Magik's power to teleport to London with a rifle & kills Selene with a bullet made of mysterium. When Selene is resurrected on Krakoa, Exodus uses his power on Selene's mind to remove the monster from existence. After a Quiet Council meeting, D more

Doesn't quite hit the same heights as the #1, but it's still a really good comic nonetheless. Gillen centers the focus on Hope this time and does a great job finding her voice throughout the issue. Her plan to defeat Selene was absolutely brilliant and made for a unique solution to a unique problem, and it was really entertaining to read to boot. We also got some more great bits with Mr. Sinister, who's clearly shaping up to be the star of this title after stealing damn near every scene in Hellions. If you've only got room for one X book on your pull, this might be the one to pick.

This is a very well-crafted story. The art is excellent and the script is truly exquisite in its structure and its dialogue. But I'd also argue that it's a rather dumb story, the same sort of action movie fare that's filling the main X-Men title right now. And being embroidered with a higher grade of snarky dialogue doesn't boost it (quite) to greatness. This issue also highlights the problem of Hope Summers while making the best possible use of her. She's made out of equal parts excessive competence and false modesty. It's ironic that this issue includes a Cyclops contingency plan (written out as a datafile). The rest of the issue shows that step 1 in all such plans should be, "If Hope is available, have her Mary Sue us out of tro more
