With two issues remaining in Hickman's run, given the scale, I expect no resolutions, and no closure to the story Hickman's been telling, so hopefully, in co-writing with Humphries the transition seems more seamless than jarring, and that, at least some of the concepts and master schemes he was building towards will be fulfilled. This is yet another excellent chapter in Hickman's run on the Ultimates. He has truly embraced the lax limitations on the Ultimate universe and exploited them to their fullest extent. Characters get to act on their extreme inhibitions, the status quo shifts wildly from issue to issue, and consequences have long-lasting effects. Almost every issue ends with a surprise that could never happen in the regular Marvel Universe, which at this point seems cool, but it is scary to think of what the world will be like once Hickman has finished waging his superhero war. "Ultimate Comics: Ultimates" manages to both be a change of pace and stay on the same foundation that it was built on. This is one of Marvel's best comics that are currently ongoing, and it will be interesting to see if it manages to say that way once Sam Humphries steps up to bat. My only request? By contrast, this is probably the prettiest mess I have seen in a while. Not as flashy as the artists covering Marvels big Avengers vs. X-Men crossover, and certainly less ridiculous, artist Esad Ribic and colourist Dean White make a book that looks incredible. From the first pages, with its lush colouring, crisp work, and wonderful panelling, the book simply looks better than it reads. Ribic is handling it all, the black hole near the end is legitimately terrifying, using obvious digital techniques to contrast the rest of the pages drawing. Truly a moment of wishing the words didnt cover things up, Im glad Marvel decided to keep its truly great artists on some books that could benefit from the talent. Hickman is usually nothing less than brilliant and capable at this sort of big story, but it seems he let this one get away from him. Read Full Review

Ultimates is just so good, especially considering the Ultimates haven't even assembled yet. Hickman moves his pieces and players perfectly and it's just a joy to read
