But Why Tho? - William Tucker

    Mar 10, 2021

Daredevil #28 is another amazing issue. Combining important social commentary with an investing storyline, Zdarsky and the art team return to their regular plot with ease. At the same time, the consequences of King in Black are heavy and preserving. This is a beautiful character-based comic, focusing heavily on the figures that are driving the story forward. Twinned with the revelations and action, this comic is an emotional rollercoaster. Read Full Review

Chip Zdarsky takes what I considered to be a so-called cooldown issue to reset after the King in Black tie-ins, and uses it as an opportunity to create a very "human" story, albeit with superheroes. The results are that it makes me care even more for the characters and the "world" they live in. Can't wait for the next issue! Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez

    Mar 14, 2021

Daredevil #28 does a very good job in taking the time to reassert where this series is at after the events of King In Black impact so many different character arcs. While this issue does focus mostly on Matt Murdock's current prison sentence Chip Zdarsky also spends time developing the current arcs of Elektra Natchios as the new Daredevil and Wilson Fisk's current mindset as Mayor of New York City. How all of these developments arc working separately and together is what continues to make Daredevil the top comic book series that Marvel is currently publishing. Read Full Review

An aftermath of King in Black shouldn't be this good. But it is. So good.

SO GOOD. Fantastic issue dealing with mental health and self doubt. It's such strong character work for Elektra, Daredevil, and Kingpin. The ending too is just such a good cliffhanger, I just wish I can read this weekly instead of monthly

This was like stripping the soul, although Matt is somewhat self-flagellant, someone needs to wake him up, there are sightings that the danger to Electra or Matt is approaching, (mystery music) so it is possible that they are preparing the field for something interesting.

Fantastic issue that touches on some interesting subjects, mainly the flawed prison system that doesn't do its best to rehabilitate inmates. Zdarsky's Daredevil continues to be thought-provoking, smart and beautiful. Also damn, Elektra is cold.

I was skeptical about how this series was going to work with Daredevil behind bars. We manged to weather King In Black without sabotaging the ongoing plot and now we can concentrate on what a barbaric shit-hole prison really is and Matt has to deal with a new level of guilt, knowing how many people he's sent here. Amazing. Zdarsky, you've done it again!

Matt and his supporting cast process their recent traumas. Their disparate stories are tightly stitched together with shared themes, and it's all conveyed with impeccable, unbeatable storytelling. Not a perfect comic -- but almost as close as you'll find crafted by human hands.

Another win as Daredevil really gets put through the paces and is coming out looking like a loser. That shower fight scene, in the aftermath Daredevil should have got shot, if he really wants to experience the full spectrum of the penal system he serves. At least he's experiencing loss after loss, and "seeing" the affects of incarceration on those he gets locked up. This arc is "Empathy For Devils" not Dummies. And damn , that mask must have a must about it, huh ? And here goes Kingpin meddling with another one of Matt's lovers. From Echo , to Mary , and most infamously Elektra - Matt & Fisk really have a certain taste in women. It's almost like Kingpin plays the disapproving father role in Matt's love life. And speaking of Matt's tr more

I get that Matt has a perpetually guilty conscience, but it still kinda baffles me that he's feeling guilt over the suicide of a man who was in prison for having murdered two people just because Matt was the one who prosecuted him. First of all, he killed himself, and Matt was even trying to protect him, so the blame in no way falls on him. Secondly, did I mention he was a murderer...? Not to mention a murderer he just met. Anyway, that's a small annoyance, but the rest of this issue was great. I particularly liked Elektra "consoling" Alice and Fisk showing a compassionate side with Mary. Those were cool parallel scenes that showed how these two characters handle trauma in themselves and others differently. Marco Checchetto is still an a more

A pretty good issue but once again I find myself more interested in Elektra and Fisk than I am in Matt's quest to do what he believes is right. I've always enjoyed Fisk and Mary's dynamic and I'm excited to see where Zdarsky is taking them. Looks like Elektra has a new apprentice too. It would've felt weird if Alice was a one-off character since last issue focused so much on her. As for Matt's story, Brubaker did Daredevil in jail so much better than this.

My main problem with this issue is the central thesis that prisons are designed to help the imprisoned. That may be laudable (if oft-underfunded and ignored) side benefit, the main rationale is to Protect Society from the incarcerated. As well as to punish those for their crimes, and act as a deterrent and warning to those tempted to commit crimes. Matt's initial instinct - that he's not above the law and should suffer the consequences of his actions - is correct.
