Duuude you started reading Invincible? that's awesome! Really hope you'll enjoy it, it's one my favorite series of all time.
Invincible #5
| Writer | Robert Kirkman |
| Artist | Cory Walker |
IT CAME FROM OUTERSPACE... and it was ready to fight! Mark is sent out into space by his father to deal with an all too familiar villain. It seems his father is too busy saving the world with The Guardians of the Globe and he needs Mark to fill in for him. Mark's lazy Sunday afternoon is ruined when he's forced to face his most formidable foe so far! Lucky for him, though, his mother is cooking pork chops tonight...his favorite.

It's still quite simple, but really cool. I loved this story in the show and it's still cool here. Silly in a good way - I kinda miss reading such comics.

This is probably the best issue so far. Not a lot happens in terms of progressing the story or even Mark as a character but adds to the universe in an easy way even if it's through exposition. Allen and Mark's fight had me actually laughing which always gets extra points from me. The art here did feel quite flat and even though I know they were I space the fight didn't have much weight to their attacks. I just can't wait for Ottley's art.

Hex - Jun 14, 2022Yeah I had been holding off for a long time and have the first 6 hardcovers just sitting on my shelf. Once the show came out a lot of them disappeared and gave me a drive to read it. Such an easy read. Kirkman is awesome here.
Julhin - Jun 14, 2022I have all the hardcover editions, and i always try to read the whole series once a year, i just love it so much.My favorite thing about this series is how much it respects and loves so many things about the superhero genre and uses all of these things to craft a story that is always changing and where the consequences of everything that happens is very real.

Issue 5 is just a fun throw away issue. I don't think it makes up an essential part of an arc. There is some humor that works and some that doesn't but most of the dialogue is fun to go through. This is a quick read that is certainly enjoyable.
