But Why Tho? - Collier "CJ" Jennings

    Sep 14, 2022

A.X.E.: Judgment Day #4continues to subvert expectations, all the while delivering a cinematic experience in terms of story and artwork. With a massive cliffhanger and only two issues left, it's anyone's guess how things will end. But that ending's bound to be spectacular. Read Full Review

A.X.E.: Judgment Day #4 focused my attention on who decides the moral laws. Who decides what is just and unjust? Who is the judge? Even the world of Marvel Comics fights with that dilemma on the reg and theyre a fictional world with superheroes and superpowers. If they struggle, what are we to do? And this question I pose not just rhetorically but also in the context of the issue. Im excited to see how Gillen will manage this new impending judgment. How will the world get through this one? I guess well have to continue to read and find out. But readers, the excitement and speculation are real! Grab A.X.E.: Judgment Day #4 as soon as you can. Other than the massive narration, this issue has it all! Read Full Review

With a story that feels like its a let down due to the important pieces being told elsewhere, the team still pulls it together when it comes to elevating a character that doesnt seem to hold the same weight in regards to other Eternals. What theyll do, and where theyll take these characters will hopefully leave a positive impact on the greater Marvel universe. Read Full Review

When it comes to A.X.E.: Judgment Day #4, the name of the game is heavy emotional resonance. You will feel for these characters as they never give up hope, but seem to have no way of stopping what is coming. The series continues to take big swings while offering introspective moments as our favorite characters get judged. What more could you want? Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez

    Sep 15, 2022

A.X.E.: Judgment Day #4 does a great job in putting over what Progenitor declaration of judgment of Earth truly means. The urgency shown by the Avengers, X-Men, and Eternals as they went along with Starfox's plan made this a strong start to the second half of Marvel's latest big event. The ending now sets up many questions for how things could go in the remaining chapters of this event. Read Full Review

A.X.E.: Judgment Day #4 makes a lot of noise, brims with high energy and fast pacing, but ultimately runs around like a chicken with its head cut off until the last four pages. The ending hits big, hard, and fast. Are those last four pages worth a $4.99 cover price? Probably not, but it will be interesting to see what happens next. Read Full Review

I could go on all day about how incredible Gillen is, but Schiti is the real star this issue, providing iconic panel after iconic panel, from the opening page (which was apparently vastly more ambitious than what Gillen wrote in the script) to "welcome to the Uni-mind" to "it's all in your hand" to that last page. Schiti's up there with McKelvie and Mora on the list of artists who really make Gillen's huge moments pop

People are judged by what they think of themselves. I think that's the whole point of this new celestial.

This event is freaking delivering man. That single panel of daredevil alone is worth the price of the book. Edit: screw it, upped my score to a ten. No real flaws in this book.

The pacing delivers. Some comics make promises, or half bake setups, but this event was clearly thought out issue to issue. 6 issues seems like it will be the perfect break up for this mainline of the event. I'm so glad we only have to wait a week for the next issue.

This issue is amazing. So many great moments. The ending carries its proper weight. I felt something, despite all the built-up cynicism I have for event comics in general. I really don't want to spoil anything. Everyone should be reading this one.

This was bloody incredible. What an event. I think my favourite part was the Progenitor judging each individual panel by panel. Boy did Matt Murdock's ever get me right in the feels... Doom's was perfectly spot on, and Miles Morales' was absolutely delightful. Would've been cool to see more characters judged. Like maybe Moon Knight, I think they could've done something cool with him and his several identities.

I know a re-read is going to happen when all is said and done, but for first time round, this like a bloody IMAX experience! Everything going down is panel-for-panel, larger-than-life! This is definitely going to be one that will be talked about long after this event is finished! And all I have left to say is: that last page!?! 😮

As expected, it has all the visual grandeur necessary for the climax of a big event. But it's even more impressive on the script side. The author fuses his interests in the personal and global, delivering a dramatic portrait of the world at a turning point. Also, he uses the word "panglossian". *Well.* It's like he knows I've been calling Judgment Day a "Big Dumb Event„¢" and set out to rebuke me in the most elegant, efficient way possible.

It's an interesting read but the jumping around is all over for me even when making it personable especially when absorbing the different points of view. I obviously have to re-read this to get a better idea of what I think. The art is great and some pages by Schiti are wonderful but many other panels are not clear enough and too rushed. Still one of the better events we had in years.

Good issue, but a lot of things are jumping around and there's a lot of exposition which, even though its important, is overwhelming.

This story is so convoluted it's not even funny. Some people get thumbs up, so get thumbs down. There is no rhyme or reason to any of it. Mostly I just don't care. The story hasn't made me care. Instead, it just keeps throwing as many characters at the reader as possible. I just feel bombarded rather than following a handful of heroes on their quest to defeat this thing and find themselves worthy of surviving this. I don't have high hopes for the next two issues.
