Sep 11, 2019In an age where comics from the Big Two tend to run together and look awfully similar, there's no denying Tradd Moore's in this title is some of the most mind-bending work you can see in a comic today. Read Full Review

It's unbelievable how good this book has been. It feels so important to the Marvel universe at large and it feels like a whole lot is riding on what Silver Surfer will do next. Donny Cates really succeeds in the characterization of Silver Surfer. He's capable of unbelievable power and just plain cool, and at the same he's pretty vulnerable right now, both physically and emotionally. The art on this series has been ridiculous, in a good way. It's really been a treat seeing what crazy ideas Tradd Moore has in store on each page, and the ball keeps rolling here. It takes me forever to finish each issue because I'm busy staring at each panel trying to take in every detail. Award-worthy stuff This issue leaves us pumped for the finale, more

Prelude: Silver Surfer: Black has been great so far but can Cates keep it up? The Good: Don't know why this point is so controversial but I absolutely love Tradd Moore's art. It works perfectly for the story. The focal point for this story is Silver Surfer's conversation with the young Galactus and it is wonderful. Really highlights the similarity between the two. Ok, benefit of having to catch up and write these now, I know that the Black Winter is going to be a focal point in Cates' up-coming Thor in 2020. I really do love this connectivity Cates uses. The Bad: Knull has been more of a background character. He's more of a tie to Cates' work than a focal villain as the story has been more focused on the Surfer. Conclusion more

The creators deliver an epic confrontation between Galactus and the Surfer -- not a fight, but a profound conversation. It holds true to both characters while also delivering an entirely new reading experience. The art is in clear GOAT territory, combining personal style with timeless imagination. On the script side, simple philosophical points are enhanced with some poetic flourishes in the prose, and the shape of the climax is artfully foreshadowed without any mystique-dispelling specifics.

The art is starting to grow on me, especially the zoomed out panels. The scene between Norrin and Uatu for example. I like the connection made to Thanos Wins.
