Jan 14, 2021Everything we learn about Clementine just makes me worry for Kat's daughter because one can imagine a newly arrived person being the easiest story to manipulate in order to get what she needs. Kraus' story covers a lot of different ground across this installment and I continue to enjoy the way it doles out its information while focusing on the characters that it does. It moves at a good pace here and even though the flashback storyline may be a bit longer than it needs to be it provides the background that we really do need for it all to work. It shows how dark and tragic life out in the boonies can be and the lengths locals will go to protect this way of life, even with its heartbreak. Despite being born here, Kat is an outsider, so she sees this place for what is really is. That will undoubtedly put her in danger.
