    COMICON - Scott Redmond

    Jun 04, 2021

This series continues to be one of the most heartfelt and character-driven books on the stands as it can rip your heart out and repair it all within the very same issue, in the best way possible time and time again. Creative, dynamic, energetic, and emotional are all words that perfectly describe every single artistic contribution to this issue and the series as a whole. 2021 is the year of the Black Cat, and that sounds like a pretty great year. You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff

Once again, MacKay has managed a very well-orchestrated chapter in Felicias life that fits perfectly into the larger picture of a series he has been working on for quite some time. His sense of pacing with the overall series has been exquisite. The reader has been offered an opportunity to get to know Felicia quite well throughout MacKays run with her. It will be interesting to see where he goes with her in the issues to come. Read Full Review

    Comic Watch - B. Radtz

The work Jed has put out on this book between Cat and the Fox really blooms to fruition in this issue. Theres a connection that is something Felicia needed in order to step out of the shadows and become more of her own character. Light on the fisticuffs, but heavy on the feels. Read Full Review

Generally I hate story arcs that conclude with everything in a neat and tidy box, but Black Cat #7 pulls things together cleanly and neatly in a way that may be light on action, but is a really great story. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez

Jed MacKay and Michael Dowling deliver a strong conclusion to the Thieves Guild and Black Fox storyline that has been going on for two years. Black Cat #7 showcases all the different skills and traits that make Felicia Hardy such a compelling character. The payoff for the relationships that Felicia has with Black Fox and Odessa Drake made the payoff to the endgame that's been built create even more excitement for the new stories to come in Black Cat. Razorfine - Alan Rapp

Of course the Fox is gone, and Felicia has an altogether different relationship with Odessa (which no doubt will lead to all kinds of new problems in not too long), but otherwise it appears that business is back to normal for New York's sexiest cat burglar. Read Full Review

This was a great issue! Too bad people are so sensitive to nearly decades-old characterization. There are too many snowflakes and art suffers for it.

Black Cat is a complex and thought provoking character, I really enjoy how she makes use of every trick she and Black Fox make use of to one up each other. It shows how much of a father-daughter figure relationship they have and why it hurts to deceive one or the other. Although what Felicia does near the end might come across as queer-baiting; it just doesn't have the same impact as her relationship with Fox. But it does mesh together with the overall series, transactional methods of comfort.

I'm glad I tried this issue after not caring much last time because the story is well told by MacKay here and I liked it much better. Dowling's art is really good here and it has grown on me. Reber's colors/tones between the 2 different stories was well done! 2 things: 1) Yes the wrap up is quick but feels appropriate with the story. 2) The last page is out of nowhere and adds almost nothing to this issue for me so I'm not sure why it is there. We'll see going forward but I will add this to my pull and find out.

Felicia chucks the Fox under the bus to save Manhattan. It's pretty simplistic from a plot standpoint, but the title's high standards are upheld by a boatload of stylish storytelling and utter commitment to fully illustrating Felicia's feelings. Not my favorite issue, but I felt it was a fitting end to the story. PS I love Bi Felicia.

I definitely loved it, but the only thing that bothered me or maybe it will be because as I have said, I've been out of the Marvel for a while. But the change to sexual preference because making changes just to increase sales that makes me uncomfortable, it doesn't feel original. If I'm in a mistake and the character was bi, before all progressive exaggeration came down on us, please illustrate me.

A fine issue but what a dumb solution. What reason does the Gilded Saint has to think Fox was the one who rigged the contract?

I absolutely have no idea why this series have high reviews. This series somehow has better reviews than kamala Khan's run and Tom Taylor's Wolverine. Let that sink in.
