You Don't Read Comics - Christopher Landers

    Jan 16, 2019

Overall, even though Thor is largely absent from this issue, and its essentially a prologue to The War of the Realms, it doesnt suffer any loss of quality from previous issues. There are still big moments that will have great importance in the upcoming story, including the game-changing Agents of Wakanda, and a few reveals on Malekiths side of things that will make Thors job a lot harder in the chapters to come. Aaron has big plans, and it is clear that he is meticulously laying out the details for his most epic story yet. If youre having trouble with the pacing of recent issues, hold tight, The War of the Realms is coming soon. Read Full Review

Mike Del Mundos art is gorgeous both in character rendering and backgrounds. Every panel looks like an amazing piece of art and his depictions of Rozs facial expressions is great. Del Mundo captures so much in these panels that they force the eye to take everything in. Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - Charles Martin

In Thor #9, the Odinson cedes starring honours to Roz Solomon, freshly-minted Agent of Wakanda. Roz flourishes in the spotlight. While the character work is impressive and the superspy action is thoroughly satisfying, the biggest accomplishment might be expanding the scope of the War of the Realms even further and reminding us that Thor is not the only hero fighting it. Aaron builds his characters so well, it seems like he could give just about ANY of them a solo adventure and it would work without incident. This is yet another well paced, well scripted, well-drawn masterpiece that completely makes the case for Aaron's time on this book deserving Hall of Fame status. Read Full Review

    AIPT - Benjamin Novoa

    Jan 09, 2019

Overall, I enjoyed my time with Thor #9, the departure from focusing on the title character works, for the most part. Aaron continues to build (slowly I might add) elements of the looming War of Realms. It won't surprise me if fans who came seeking Thor in a monumental battle are disappointed. Another minor gripe is that the Thor book feels like a precursor to the War of Realms Event, rather than a title with its own identity. If nothing else, Aaron continues to place all the pieces on the board before unleashing hell. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - Branden

    Jan 11, 2019

Overall, Thor is still a series I find enjoyment in, but much less so lately as it feels like it's just been stalling until this 'war' finally arrives. The art really hurts the story progression and at points even makes whats going on completely incomprehensible. The lack of Thor in his namesake title brings things down a touch as well but Roz's journey this issue is still some fun. Read Full Review

This is a mostly Thorless Thor issue. Instead we get see what Roz Solomon was doing during Avengers #12 as well as her introduction into the Agents of Wakanda. It actually gives some real insight into the character and showed a much more disturbed side of her that we don't really see. And it actually elevates what felt like a throwaway line in Avengers to plug this Thor issue into something better and slightly sad. We also get some big developments for the War of the Realms: Malekith has his own bifrost and has already begun traveling to and from Earth and Dario Agger is actually not as supportive as he always seemed for this war. I really like how seemlessly Avengers and Thor are merging. While each series keeps its own plot points, so tha more

A great spy story with some nice looking art. But Roz implying Thor's spending to much time with She-Hulk and not taking the impending war seriously enough is kind of inconsistent with the last issue, where everyone's concerned he's burning the candle at both ends.

Roz Solomon, freshly-minted Agent of Wakanda, takes the wheel for a kickass super-spy adventure. It's long on action and awesome character insight, too, and the art does an especially good job of sticking to the story here. Granted, Thor's role is a little anemic for an eponymous book, but Roz's story is just too damn good for that to be a serious fault.

If this was a Roz Solomon book I would give it a higher rating, but its not, its Thor minus Thor. Aaron is still pushing the "unworthy" theme, I really hope that somewhere in the near future he regains his status in a big way and his book can finally be about him again. Roz gets things going quick, she's inducted into the new double secret Agents of Wakanda, then promptly jumps right into the middle of Malekith's plans. It seems like she might have bitten off more than she can chew so who does she call? Jane Foster....of course. Although I think it was obvious that Roz was going to come out on top, regardless. This issue seems like its just laying groundwork for the upcoming War of the Realms, while at the same time promoting Aaron's previo more
