X-Men Red #3features plenty of double-crosses and bloody grabs for power, as Storm and Abigail Brand battle for power on Arakko. This book is shaping up to be Game of Thrones in the X-Men universe, which makes for an intriguing combo. Hopefully, Ewing and Caselli deliver a stronger ending for their series. Read Full Review

    The Comicbook Dispatch - StoryBabbler

    Jun 15, 2022

X-Men Red #3 brings a more action-oriented chapter in the series as Tarn the Uncaring steps into the ring. While the Arakkii mutant villain gets his time in the spotlight, he isn't that impressive but provides a serviceable role in the story. However, the character who steals the show in this comic book is without a doubt Magneto when it comes to the story, dialogue, and art. Read Full Review

We've never had an X-Men book quite like this, and it is all the better for it. The characterization, plot, pace, politics, world-building, spectacle, dialogue, and, my goddess, the art are just all on point. The cast is a great mix of old and new in new situations with new dynamics that are rooted in characterization and history. This book feels made for me, and I couldn't ask for more.

the best X-series in the moment and one of the best series in the actual Marvel. I don't have words to say how this blew my mind. The way that Ewing treats the characters is just perfect. The Magneto's moment is incredible! And Caselli makes the faces and expressions of the characters in an awesome way. Just perfect.

I can't remember the last time a comic made me audibly gasp, but that Isca twist... so good. Ewing is really in his element with this one; the politics, the (literal) world-building, and the character development are top tier. Three issues in, and I can't wait to see where this goes.

The cover is very misleading. Don't know too much about Vulcan, so far he seems one-dimensional, though they hint at more. I love me a well written Magneto

GOOD LORD what a book. I haven't read much of Manifold, Thunderbird, or even Cable before this, but their story surrounding Abigail sets up a lot of intrigue. Speaking of Abigail, her and Storm's conversation about Vulcan challenging Tarn was just really well-written, as was the aftermath when Storm was talking with Magneto, Sunspot, and Fisher King. On top of that, we had the challenge. Tarn and Vulcan's fight was just great and got absolutely brutal when Tarn beat him into the ground. I was sitting on a good 9.5 right there, but then we got Magneto challenging Tarn. Sunspot betting Isca that Tarn would win was such a clever twist to signal his impending defeat, and the way Magneto killed Tarn was just incredible. I haven't even mentioned more

This issue builds to a truly exquisite climax, complete with epic twists and great dialogue. While the art is impeccable from the first page to the last, the prose starts out at a slightly lower quality level than it will reach at the end. But *what* an end it gets to! A serious one-two whammy of awesomeness. Both hits are terrific, but for my money, Bobby's trick is even more impressive than Magneto's challenge.

An absolute banger of an issue. I love the way Ewing is integrating Arakko and it's culture into the larger Marvel universe in a way that no other writer has managed yet. The chess match between Brand and Storm is extremely well written, as were the conflicts at the Circle Perilous. From Roberto's play in the stands to the way in which Magneto deals with Tarn, it was all just perfectly clever. I know people were worried about the line without Hickman in charge, but I think between Duggan's X-Men, Ewing's Red and Gillen's Immortal things are really looking up. We're getting high-level storytelling in each series. Most importantly, all the ideas feel completely fresh and each book is interconnecting nicely while also carving out a space o more
